Beyond South Florida

From our workroom to the islands

The Caribbean is an hour or two from our Fort Lauderdale workroom, and island glass is the same problem we solve on the beach at home, multiplied: more sun, more salt, more humidity, and no one around the corner to fix a bad install. So we bring the whole operation with us. Six private villas on Big Ambergris Cay, Turks & Caicos were measured, sewn, shipped, installed and commissioned entirely by our own team - read the case study.

Every island project runs one of two ways. For villas, estates and resort scopes, our crew travels: we template on site, fabricate at home, then return to install and commission. For smaller scopes we fabricate and ship, working from your contractor's field measurements with our drawings and support. Either way the treatments come out of one workroom, to one standard.

Options & Details

How an island project works

Two ways to work

For full villas, estates and resort scopes, our own crew travels: we template on site, fabricate in Fort Lauderdale, then return to install and commission. For smaller scopes we fabricate and ship, working from your contractor's field measurements and supporting the install remotely.

One workroom

Every treatment is cut and sewn in our own Fort Lauderdale workroom - the same in-house seamstresses behind our South Florida projects - so what lands on the island is finished, labeled by opening, and ready to hang.

Built for the climate

Fabric and hardware are chosen for salt air, humidity and relentless UV - solar screens that hold the view while cutting glare and heat, blackout systems for sleep, and finishes selected for coastal environments.

Motorization that survives the distance

We are a Lutron, Somfy and Crestron house. On Big Ambergris Cay we hard-wired every shade into Lutron myRoom XR - no batteries to change, no RF drop-outs - and we spec island motorization with the same bias for reliability.

Freight and receiving

Treatments are crated at the workroom and shipped, and we coordinate receiving with your builder, property manager or villa team so the goods and the crew arrive in the right order.

Designers, builders & GCs

Most island work arrives through a designer, builder or property team. We fold into your schedule, report as we go, and are glad to structure a referral partnership.

Turks & Caicos · Proven Here

We did not start with a brochure

Our Turks & Caicos work started with a commission most companies would decline: six private villas on Big Ambergris Cay, a fly-in cay where everything - fabric, hardware, tools, crew - arrives by plane or boat or not at all. We measured every opening, sewed the romans in our own workroom, shipped the goods staged and labeled by villa and opening, then flew the crew in to anchor into concrete block and commission a fully hard-wired Lutron myRoom XR system before anyone flew home. The case study tells the whole story.

That template now serves the whole country: Providenciales - Grace Bay, Long Bay, Leeward, Turtle Tail, Chalk Sound - and the private cays: Ambergris Cay, Parrot Cay, Pine Cay, with North Caicos and Grand Turk by arrangement. Solar screens that hold the turquoise view, blackout that beats a 6am sunrise, and roman shades and drapery sewn to designer spec.

Watch

Forty-seven seconds on the cay

The flight in over the turquoise flats, the villas on the water, one press on the Lutron keypad, and the custom romans closing across the glass.

US & British Virgin Islands

Hillside glass, harbor light

Virgin Islands homes are built for the view - villas stepped down hillsides over Magens Bay, Cruz Bay and the North Sound, walls of glass aimed at water that glitters all day. The price is heat, glare and salt working on every opening, and afternoons when the west-facing rooms cook. We answer with screens that keep the view while cutting the heat, true blackout where you sleep, and drapery sewn to the designer's spec - motorized so whole elevations move together on a scene.

The two flags change the paperwork, not the standard. On the US side - St. Thomas, St. John, St. Croix - you get domestic flights, US dollars and familiar logistics. On the British side - Tortola, Virgin Gorda and the outer islands - we plan freight and travel with your builder or property manager before anything is cut.

Puerto Rico · A Domestic Flight Away

Miami standards, San Juan address

Puerto Rico's best addresses look a lot like our home market: glass towers on the Condado and Isla Verde beachfront, and low villas on the golf-and-ocean communities of Dorado, Bahia Beach and Palmas del Mar. The tower unit gets quiet motorized rollers in a screen tuned to the exposure with blackout in the bedrooms; the villa gets whole-home motorization planned with the builder - the way we work Miami, a thousand miles southeast.

Being a US territory keeps everything familiar: fly out of Fort Lauderdale in the morning, template after lunch - no customs broker on the critical path. We serve San Juan - Condado, Ocean Park, Isla Verde, Old San Juan - plus Dorado, Bahia Beach, Palmas del Mar and Rincon; elsewhere on the island, ask. The answer is usually yes.

Good to Know

Frequently asked

Which islands do you serve?

Turks & Caicos, the US and British Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico. Our completed island work to date is in Turks & Caicos - six private villas on Big Ambergris Cay - and we are glad to discuss other Caribbean destinations project by project.

Do you install, or just ship?

Both, depending on the project. Full villas and resort scopes get our own crew on site for templating, installation and commissioning; smaller scopes can be fabricated in Fort Lauderdale and shipped, with your contractor installing from our drawings.

Who fabricates the treatments?

Our own Fort Lauderdale workroom - the same team behind our South Florida projects. Nothing is brokered out.

Can island shades be motorized reliably?

Yes. We are a Lutron, Somfy and Crestron house, and on Big Ambergris Cay every shade was hard-wired into Lutron myRoom XR - no batteries, no RF drop-outs. We bring that same bias for reliability to every island spec.

Are the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico treated as international projects?

The US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico are US territories - domestic flights from Fort Lauderdale and Miami, US dollars, familiar paperwork. The British Virgin Islands and Turks & Caicos are international, and we plan freight and travel with your builder or property manager before anything is cut.

How do we start?

Send plans, elevations or photos and tell us the destination. We come back with an approach, a budget range and a schedule - and for larger scopes we fly in. Start here.

An island project on your drawing board?

Bring us in before the finishes close. One free hour with our team routinely saves owners thousands in avoidable mistakes - fabrics that fail in the salt air, motors that were never planned for, freight that arrives before anyone can receive it. Book a private, complimentary consultation - we bring the fabrics, the samples, and honest answers.
