Credentials & Recognition
Every claim on this page says what it is: a manufacturer account, a training record, a system we have installed, or a compatibility. Where a document or a public record exists, we show you how to check it.
Four different things that usually get one word
Most window-treatment websites call everything "certified". We separate the four things a manufacturer relationship can mean, because they answer different questions about your project.
Manufacturer account
The manufacturer sells to us directly, supports the account and stands behind the parts. It answers: who did you buy this from, and who backs the hardware.
Training record
A named person on our team completed the manufacturer's course. It answers: who programs and troubleshoots your system, and what they were taught.
Installed system
A system we measured, installed and commissioned on a documented project you can read. It answers: have you done this, not could you.
Integration
A control system our shades join through its published drivers, usually programmed with your integrator. It answers: will the shades work with the house, not do you sell that system.
Lutron, Crestron and Somfy: exactly what we hold
Dates and document references are real. Anything we cannot show you a document for is not on this page.
Lutron
Company account
Direct Lutron shading account with Lutron Residential Systems, opened September 2026 through Lutron's South Florida manufacturer representative. Lutron's Luxury Inside Sales team supports the account. Our parent company has held its own Lutron account in Canada for years before that.
Verify: Lutron account confirmation letter (September 8, 2026) shown on request.
Training record
David Martineau holds Lutron's Lighting Control Institute Full Shades Qualification Training certificate (April 2026). Our installer has worked directly with Lutron technical support on Sivoia QS commissioning since 2025.
Verify: LCI course completion certificate shown on request.
Installed systems
Palladiom, Sivoia QS wired and wireless, Triathlon and Serena shades, Sivoia QS drapery tracks, HomeWorks and myRoom XR programming. Read the Fort Lauderdale estate (whole-home Palladiom), Hillsboro Mile (Sivoia QS, HomeWorks), six villas on myRoom XR and Ritz-Carlton Sunny Isles (Lutron into a Crestron house).
Crestron
Program membership
Member of the Crestron Residential Consultants program since April 2025. Consultants design and specify Crestron shading and are supported directly by Crestron (software, firmware, Crestron Technical Institute training, sales support). Crestron hardware is purchased through your Crestron dealer, and we commission the shades with your integrator. We are not a Crestron dealer and do not sell Crestron processors or control.
Verify: Crestron program welcome letter with customer number shown on request. Your integrator: Crestron dealer directory.

Installed systems
Crestron QMT roller motors and Crestron drapery track commissioned into a Control4 home at Trump Tower III; Lutron shading integrated into a Crestron house at Ritz-Carlton Sunny Isles; Somfy TaHoma into Crestron at Salato. See Crestron shades for the components we specify, and Lutron vs Crestron for how the two compare.
Somfy
Company account
Direct Somfy Systems account since July 2025. Motors, controls, TaHoma hubs and SDN components come to us directly from Somfy.
Training record
Somfy U courses completed in 2025 by David Martineau and our lead installer, Alexander, including RTS Drapery Specification and Use. Somfy Digital Network (SDN) and SDN Connect systems designed, addressed and programmed by our own team.
Installed systems
Sonesse RTS and WireFree motors, Glydea and Irismo drapery motors, TaHoma, RTS repeaters and URTSI integration, SDN networks. Read Bay Drive Mansion (WireFree and solar, into Control4), Landmark Ranch Estates, Salato and The Hemispheres, and how we program every motor.
Control4, Savant and other control systems
Integration compatibility
Our Lutron and Somfy systems join Control4, Savant, Crestron and Apple Home scenes through each system's published drivers. We prewire, address and commission the shades and hand your integrator a documented motor list; the scenes are programmed in the house system. We do not sell or program Control4 or Savant processors.
Documented: Somfy URTSI II into Control4 at Bay Drive, Crestron shading into Control4 at Trump Tower III, Zigbee and Apple Home at The Hemispheres. See Control4 shades and Savant shades.

Licensing and insurance, stated plainly
Florida has no state contractor license category for interior window treatments: finished products that do not become a permanent part of the structure are exempt under Florida Statutes 489.103(6) and 489.503(5), so no shade company can show you a state license for shades. Where a motor needs a new 120 V circuit, that circuit is installed by a licensed electrical contractor, never by us. Before every condominium installation we send building management our certificate of insurance and proof of workers' compensation coverage.

Who measures, sews, installs and programs
David Martineau, founder
Installing for his father's manufacturing customers before he was 18, founder of his first window-treatment company at 24, and the installer of record on two 21-floor towers before 30. Holds Lutron's LCI Full Shades Qualification Training certificate. Runs every consultation and every measure himself. Read his story.
Alexander, lead installer
Has installed alongside David for eight years, since the second tower in Laval. Somfy U trained; works directly with Lutron technical support on Sivoia QS commissioning. The person who measures your windows is the person who installs them.
The workroom
Five in-house seamstresses, each with more than 20 years at the machine, sewing exclusively for Exotic on an automated cutting and conveyor line. Ripplefold, pinch pleat, hand-finished hems, blackout linings and sheers are made here, not ordered from a catalog.
Nobody else
No subcontracted installers, no outsourced sewing. Building approvals, certificates of insurance, service-elevator reservations and freight scheduling are handled by our office for every condominium project.
What we hold ourselves to on every job
These are the checks we run, in the order we run them.
1. Measured by the installer
The person who measures is the person who installs, so there is no hand-off where a dimension gets lost. Radius, out-of-square and mixed sill lines are templated on site rather than forced into a straight track.
2. The right power and the right motor
Wired where the drawings allow, battery or solar where they do not, and a written motor list per opening with load, width and control before anything is ordered. See how we prewire.
3. Fabric you can name
Every screen fabric is a named mill style with a published spec sheet and a GREENGUARD or NFPA 701 listing. We do not quote anonymous "5% charcoal" screen.
4. Alignment checked at handover
Banked Lutron Sivoia QS and Palladiom shades hold their hembars within 1/8 in of each other, moving or stopped, and we verify it before we leave. Drapery stacks, returns and hem heights are checked wall by wall.
5. Programmed, then explained
Limits, groups, scenes and schedules are set before the walkthrough. You are shown how to use and maintain everything. Old treatments are removed and disposed of.
6. Service after the install
We service and reprogram the motorized systems we install. See Lutron shade service and repair.
Proof, not promises
16 published case studies
Each names the building or neighborhood, the fabric, the motor and the control system, with a project-at-a-glance table and the components used. Start with the 12,000 sq ft oceanfront estate on whole-home Palladiom, six Lutron villas in the Turks & Caicos, or Bay Drive Mansion. All projects.

Watch it being made
Five master seamstresses, each with over 20 years at the machine, and an automated cutting and conveyor line most workrooms have never seen. Ripplefold, pinch pleat, hand-finished hems: if it can be sewn, we make it here in South Florida.
a five-star Google rating - homeowners, designers, and developers across South Florida.
“As a contractor l've worked with a lot of window treatment companies and Exotic Shades is the best. Motorized sheers in a living room job, made the whole room feel bigger and tied everything together. Their own team, clean install, on time. Couldn't ask for a better partner”
“Our designer guided all the colors and products for our condo remodel and recommend Alexander for the drapes of our master bedroom. He delivered exactly what we asked for. Was professional, meticulous and easy to work with. A true pleasure.”
“We hired exotic shades draperies for the motorized roller shades in our house in Hallandale, and we are really happy with the job. My husband wanted the best quality of shades and the quietest, so David recommended we go with Lutron shades that he installed with the system in our house. Super professional, meticuluos in detail. Exactly what we wanted. Great customer service! Recommend 10/10”
