Built to disappear at the touch of a keypad
Six private villas on Big Ambergris Cay, wrapped in floor-to-ceiling glass. Exotic supplied and installed Lutron blackout shades alongside our own custom roman shades built on Lutron's roman-shade kit - every run hard-wired into a Lutron myRoom XR system and controlled from the wall keypads. No batteries, no RF drop-outs; every opening drops into one-touch scenes.
The rollers are Lutron Luna Blackout in Cosmos, on Sivoia QS wired drives; the romans are Artelino cloth, cut and sewn flat in our own workroom to the designer's approved texture and colour - the largest of them 112 by 118 inches, a size where any flaw shows. We measured every opening, shipped the goods staged and labeled by villa and opening, then flew the crew in.
Precise specs, electrician coordination, and robust anchoring into concrete block with specialty fasteners made it a demanding install. Close collaboration with the designer on texture and color made it a unique one. Installed and commissioned by our own crew - a fully hard-wired Lutron system running before anyone flew home.

The system behind the villas
myRoom is Lutron's guestroom platform - lighting, shading and temperature per room, built for hotels, resorts and condo-hotels - and on Big Ambergris Cay every shade was hard-wired into it: one press at the wall and every run in the villa answers.

Engraved Lutron keypads on the wall of each villa - shade, blind and scene buttons on one plate, so a guest raises a wall of glass or sets the room with one touch, with no remote to find.

What was the hardest detail?
The largest roman measured 112 x 118 inches - a size where any flaw shows. It finished dead-flat and seam-perfect, on Lutron's roman-shade system, programmed to stop at its fold positions. Custom roman shades.
Why hard-wired instead of battery?
