The wired Lutron line: one low-voltage run per shade, any size up to 20 ft, every bottom bar on one line
Sivoia QS is the Lutron shade a dealer engineers into the building. Each roller, Roman, honeycomb, wood blind or drapery drive takes 35 V low-voltage power and data on one run back to a Lutron supply or panel, has its own address on the QS link, reports its position back, and stops within 1/8 in of its neighbours. Lutron rates the rollers from 20 in to 20 ft with coupling brackets, 35 to 50 dBA at 3 ft by size, and the D105, D145 and D175 drapery drives to 175 lb of fabric on 18 ft of track without a splice.
It is the line for new construction and renovations with the walls open, for walls of glass that have to move as one, for recessed pockets and side channels, and for any house run by RadioRA 3, HomeWorks, Crestron, Control4 or Savant. Where there is no wiring, the same Lutron fabrics go on Triathlon batteries instead.

The drives, by the glass they carry #
Lutron does not size Sivoia QS by width alone. Each drive is rated by the area of fabric it can lift, so a tall narrow shade and a short wide one can land on the same motor.

Two things follow from the table. First, the drive decides the pocket: a Roller 20 fits a 3 in frame, a Roller 100 wants 5 in, and Lutron's published dual pocket is 5.5 by 7.5 in for two Roller 64s and 7 by 11 in for two Roller 100s, which is why a dual shade in an existing ceiling becomes a soffit. On a new build the pocket is drawn in before the drywall and nobody sees it; see recessed shade pockets and recessed window treatments.
Second, coupling is what makes a 20 ft wall one shade. Several tubes are joined under one drive, up to six fabric panels, and Intelligent Hembar Alignment keeps the bottom bars in line, so the eye reads one horizontal across the room. That is the detail behind the Hillsboro Mile living room and the reason Lutron is the line we reach for on oversize glass; the limits of every maker's roller are on how wide a roller shade can be.
The same QS drive family runs Lutron's other styles: tensioned rollers for skylights and sloped glass (the skylight fabrics are a separate list), Roman shades on Lutron's roman-shade kit (the largest we have built measured 112 by 118 in, in Turks and Caicos), honeycomb shades and wood blinds that raise and tilt by motor.
Power and wiring: the QS link #
What a Sivoia QS shade needs in the wall, and why it still answers the keypad ten years on.
Every Sivoia QS drive runs on 35 V Class 2 low voltage. One 4-conductor QS link cable per shade carries both the power and the data, home-run to a Lutron supply: a plug-in supply in a standard receptacle for a single shade (about $269 at Lutron list), a junction-box supply, or a 10-output panel for a whole floor (about $2,153 at list, with 30-output panels above that). Each shade has its own address on the link and reports its position back to the system, so the keypad knows where the fabric is, not only where it was told to go. There are no batteries to change and no radio to drop out, which is why the six villas on Big Ambergris Cay are wired this way on myRoom XR.
Sivoia QS Wireless is the same four-button drive wired for power only and controlled by radio on Clear Connect Type A at 434 MHz, the band Lutron describes as essentially silent. It suits a renovation where a power run is easy but a data run is not, and it pairs with Pico remotes and RadioRA 3 the same way. Neither version runs on batteries; the battery Lutron lines are Triathlon and Serena, and a Triathlon shade cannot be converted to QS power later.
Low voltage is also what lets the wiring be thin: Lutron's drapery documentation allows 250 ft of 12 AWG, 100 ft of 16 AWG or 50 ft of 18 AWG from supply to drive. The runs are planned before the drywall, with the pockets; our pre-wire guide sets out the sequence we use with the electrician and the general contractor.
Why forty shades stop on one line #
The feature the client never hears about and always sees.
As a shade winds up the roll gets fatter, so at the same motor speed the fabric travels faster; fabric weight, tube size and voltage differ from window to window; and an ordinary motor has no idea where its neighbours are. Start five of them together and they drift apart mid-travel and stop out of line. Lutron closes that loop: a sensor reads the motor speed 500 times a second, a microcontroller changes the RPM as the roll diameter changes so the bottom bar itself travels at a constant speed, and every shade in a group stops within 1/8 in of the others, on a preset or on a raise and lower command to any position. It is built into every size and model of Sivoia QS, wired or wireless, and we verify it at handover before we leave.

Drapery tracks on the same link #
Lutron's motorized drapery belongs to Sivoia QS: three drives named for the weight they pull, on the same 35 V supply as the shades.

Ripplefold or pinch pleat, one-way or center draw, straight or curved to a 20 in radius (pinch pleat only on curves), on ceiling or wall brackets or in a recessed pocket, in white, silver, bronze or black. The D105-P adds pull-to-start: tug the panel and the drive takes over, and it still opens by hand in a power cut. Sheers and blackouts travel on independent tracks in sync, which is how a whole wall of sheers at the Ritz-Carlton Residences Miami Beach opens as one gesture and how the Fort Lauderdale estate opens thirty feet of glass on one press.

Crestron Home has paired natively with HomeWorks QS and QSX, RadioRA 2 and RA2 Select since May 2020, with RadioRA 3 added after its launch; Control4 and Savant reach the shades through the same Lutron processor. That is how the Ritz-Carlton Residences Sunny Isles runs. The longer answer is Lutron vs Crestron.
Who programs it: a Sivoia QS project arrives measured, installed, limit-set, grouped and programmed, with the keypads engraved for the rooms they control. In RadioRA 3 and HomeWorks homes the shades are added and their limits set in Lutron Designer, software Lutron releases only after its qualification training; owners then use the Lutron app for scenes, schedules and adjustments. A stand-alone Sivoia QS shade can also be run from a Pico remote through a QSM or a QS Wireless receiver. The Sivoia QS column carries the pieces a wired system needs: the RadioRA 3 processor (about $549 at list), a QS power supply per shade (about $269 for a single-shade supply; a 10-output panel at about $2,153 replaces ten of them on a larger project), a Pico per opening (about $32), the QS link wiring where it is not already in the wall, and 4% delivery. On a single window that is why the figure looks high next to Triathlon; on a whole floor the processor and panel are shared and the gap closes. Is Lutron Sivoia QS wired or wireless? #
Both exist, and both are wired for power. Sivoia QS Wired carries 35 V low-voltage power and data on one 4-conductor QS link run per shade back to a Lutron supply or panel. Sivoia QS Wireless takes the same power run but is controlled by radio on Clear Connect Type A at 434 MHz. There is no battery Sivoia QS roller or drapery drive; the battery Lutron lines are Triathlon and Serena, and a Triathlon shade cannot be converted to QS power later. How wide can a Sivoia QS shade be? #
Lutron rates Sivoia QS from 20 in to 20 ft with coupling brackets. A single drive is rated by fabric area: up to 8 ft on the Roller 64, 10 ft on the Roller 100 and 150 and 15 ft on the Roller 225, and up to six fabric panels can be coupled under one drive with the bottom bars held within 1/8 in. How quiet is Sivoia QS? #
Lutron publishes the figures, which few makers do: 35 dBA measured 3 ft from the drive on the Roller 64, under 44 dBA on the Roller 20 and for the Sivoia QS roller range in general, 50 dBA on the largest Roller 300, and no more than 50 dB at 3 ft for the drapery drive. Palladiom, the exposed line, is under 35 dBA. In a bedroom what you hear in practice comes from the pocket, the fascia and the fabric as much as the number. What is Intelligent Hembar Alignment? #
Lutron's closed-loop motor control. The shade's speed is read 500 times a second and the motor's RPM is adjusted as the roll diameter changes, so every shade in a group travels at the same bottom-bar speed and stops within 1/8 in of the others, moving or stopped, on any command. It is on every size and model of Sivoia QS, wired or wireless, and on Palladiom and Triathlon battery shades. Explained, with the diagram.
Sivoia QS or Palladiom? #
Same Lutron precision, two looks. Sivoia QS hides in a pocket or behind a fascia and scales from one room to a 20 ft wall and a drapery track; Palladiom is the exposed roller, 20 to 144 in wide with machined brackets meant to be seen, under 35 dBA, wired or wire-free. Many homes use both: Palladiom in the living spaces, Sivoia QS in the bedrooms, the pockets and on the drapery. The Fort Lauderdale estate is built that way. Read Lutron Palladiom.
Sivoia QS or Triathlon? #
Power at the window decides it. Wiring run before the drywall means Sivoia QS: no transformer at any window, nothing to replace, coupled banks, side channels, pockets and drapery tracks. A finished home with no wiring means Triathlon on D cells, rated by Lutron at three to five years at two cycles a day, up to 108 in wide and 144 in on the WIDR headrail. Does Sivoia QS run drapery tracks? #
Yes, the Lutron motorized drapery track is part of Sivoia QS. Three drives named for the weight they pull, the D105, D145 and D175, run on the same 35 V supply as the shades, pull up to 175 lb, run 18 ft without a splice at 6 in per second and no more than 50 dB at 3 ft, straight or curved, pinch pleat or ripplefold, with pull-to-start on the D105-P. Only where a low-voltage run can reach the window, which in a finished condo usually means a renovation with the ceilings open or a building that already has conduit to the shade pockets. Where it cannot, the same fabric goes on Triathlon batteries or, where the building has 24 V conduit, on a wired Somfy system as at Salato in Pompano Beach. Exotic Shades & Draperies is a South Florida window-treatment company that designs, sews and installs its own work: Lutron and Somfy motorized shades, custom draperies sewn in our Fort Lauderdale workroom by five in-house seamstresses, plantation shutters and blinds. Established in South Florida in 2024, backed by more than 20 years of window-treatment manufacturing and installation experience. Lutron certified dealer, Somfy Expert, Crestron and Control4 integration. The same in-house team measures, installs and programs every project; when shading has to integrate with another control system, we bring in our smart-home partner Adom Smart Home.
