Alendel lists Impala as a sheer in 1 colourway, in 100% polyester inherently flame retardant, at 124 in wide, railroaded. The single colour is Sand, filed by Alendel under beige. Flagged in stock by Alendel. It sits in Alendel's Big Sheer Book 2.0.
The width is the reason to look at it: railroaded, the 124 in becomes the drop, so a wall of glass up to about 10 ft 4 in high runs seamless from end to end, which is how we sew sheers across an ocean wall. Alendel gives the repeat as vertical 2.5 in; we match it across every seam and every window in the room, which adds yardage and is part of the quote. Polyester holds its pleat and its size in humid air and after cleaning, and stands up to Florida sun better than cotton or linen does. It weighs 0.50 lb per yard by Alendel's listing, which is on the light side. Care is WA (washable). It passes NFPA 701, the flame test a condo association, hotel or office asks for on drapery. It comes with a weighted hem in the selvedge, which is why the wide sheers hang plumb without a chain weight from us. Country of origin, as Alendel lists it: Turkey.
What Impala does at the window, and what it does not
Best use
Sheers are our most requested drapery and Impala is used as one: floor to ceiling on a ceiling-mounted track, ripplefold or pinch pleat, set at 2.5 to 3 times fullness so the wave is even from end to end. The wide width means a whole wall in one piece.
Light and privacy
A sheer filters hard sunlight into an even glow and keeps the view; it takes the glare off a white sofa without hiding the water. It gives no privacy at night with the lights on, so a bedroom takes a lined or blackout panel on a second track behind it, and it is not a blackout.
Cloth and care
100% polyester inherently flame retardant; 0.50 lb per yard; care WA (washable). Polyester keeps its size and its pleat in humid air and after cleaning, and holds its colour in the sun better than a natural fibre.
Limitations
No privacy at night with the lights on, and no blackout; it is layered where either is needed. Railroaded wide-width goods are not cut into Roman shades; for a matching Roman we pick a 54 inch cloth from the same book. The seamless drop tops out at about 10 ft 4 in; a taller wall is seamed or turned back up the roll.
