Organic is one of the Alendel sheers we make up here, with 4 colourways on the card, in 81% viscose and 19% polyester, at 118 in wide, railroaded. The colours run Overcast, Fog, Bone and Natural, across the grey, beige and brown families. All 4 flagged in stock by Alendel. It sits in Alendel's Big Sheer Book 2.0.
The width is the reason to look at it: railroaded, the 118 in becomes the drop, so a wall of glass up to about 9 ft 10 in high runs seamless from end to end, which is how we sew sheers across an ocean wall. The repeat is vertical 12.36 in, horizontal 8.03 in, matched across seams and from window to window, so the yardage is figured on the repeat rather than the finished size. The viscose is what gives it the lustre; it is lined for the sun and kept out of wet rooms. Alendel lists the weight at 0.60 lb per yard, medium-weight for a sheer. Care is WA-P (washable or dry clean); Alendel's own line reads: washable, dry clean. It carries CAL 117, an upholstery flammability listing; and FMVSS 302, the automotive interior test. Every colourway is listed as Oeko-Tex. It comes with a weighted hem in the selvedge, which is why the wide sheers hang plumb without a chain weight from us. Country of origin, as Alendel lists it: Italy.
What Organic does at the window, and what it does not
Best use
Sheers are our most requested drapery and Organic is used as one: floor to ceiling on a ceiling-mounted track, ripplefold or pinch pleat, set at 2.5 to 3 times fullness so the wave is even from end to end. The wide width means a whole wall in one piece.
Light and privacy
By day it softens the light and frames the view. After dark, with the room lit, the room is visible from outside: sheers are layered with a blackout or lined panel where privacy matters, or with a solar roller behind for glare by day.
Cloth and care
81% viscose and 19% polyester; 0.60 lb per yard; care WA-P (washable or dry clean). Viscose gives the lustre and is kept out of wet rooms. Listed as Oeko-Tex.
Limitations
No privacy at night with the lights on, and no blackout; it is layered where either is needed. Railroaded wide-width goods are not cut into Roman shades; for a matching Roman we pick a 54 inch cloth from the same book. The seamless drop tops out at about 9 ft 10 in; a taller wall is seamed or turned back up the roll.
