At 120 in the cloth is turned sideways and the width becomes the height, so a window wall up to about 10 ft tall carries no seam at all; that is the wide-width advantage on floor-to-ceiling glass. The repeat is vertical 3.34 in, horizontal 2.95 in, matched across seams and from window to window, so the yardage is figured on the repeat rather than the finished size. Linen brings the slub and the matte hand, and it moves a little with the humidity, which is part of its character; it wants a lining that carries the UV load, and on a west window we line generously so the face does not fade. Alendel lists the weight at 0.61 lb per yard, medium-weight for a sheer. Care is S (dry clean, or spot clean with a dry-cleaning solvent); Alendel's own line reads: dry clean only. What Peru does at the window, and what it does not
Best use
Sheers are our most requested drapery and Peru is used as one: floor to ceiling on a ceiling-mounted track, ripplefold or pinch pleat, set at 2.5 to 3 times fullness so the wave is even from end to end. The wide width means a whole wall in one piece.
Light and privacy
A sheer filters hard sunlight into an even glow and keeps the view; it takes the glare off a white sofa without hiding the water. It gives no privacy at night with the lights on, so a bedroom takes a lined or blackout panel on a second track behind it, and it is not a blackout.
Cloth and care
54% linen, 25% cotton and 21% polyester; 0.61 lb per yard; care S (dry clean, or spot clean with a dry-cleaning solvent). Cotton and linen are lined here for the sun, and they move a little with the humidity, which is part of the look. Listed as Oeko-Tex.
Limitations
No privacy at night with the lights on, and no blackout; it is layered where either is needed. Railroaded wide-width goods are not cut into Roman shades; for a matching Roman we pick a 54 inch cloth from the same book. The seamless drop tops out at about 10 ft; a taller wall is seamed or turned back up the roll. No fire listing from Alendel, so a commercial or condo common-area job needs a certificate arranged for the project or another cloth. 1 of the 3 colour is not flagged in stock, so that colour is a mill order with a longer lead time; we confirm stock before anything is cut.
