The width is the reason to look at it: railroaded, the 118 in becomes the drop, so a wall of glass up to about 9 ft 10 in high runs seamless from end to end, which is how we sew sheers across an ocean wall. Linen brings the slub and the matte hand, and it moves a little with the humidity, which is part of its character; it wants a lining that carries the UV load, and on a west window we line generously so the face does not fade. Alendel lists the weight at 0.71 lb per yard, medium-weight for a sheer. Care is WA-P (washable or dry clean); Alendel's own line reads: washable, dry clean. Alendel lists no fire test for it, so it is a residential cloth unless a treated lining or a certificate is arranged for the project. Every colourway is listed as Oeko-Tex.

Best use
Shannon is a sheer, so it goes where the point is daylight and the view: living rooms and dining rooms on the water, a wall of sliders, a bedroom by day with a blackout layer behind it for night. Railroaded at 118 in it runs seamless across a window wall on a ceiling track, ripplefold at 2.5 to 3 times fullness.
Light and privacy
By day it softens the light and frames the view. After dark, with the room lit, the room is visible from outside: sheers are layered with a blackout or lined panel where privacy matters, or with a solar roller behind for glare by day.
Cloth and care
50% linen and 50% polyester; 0.71 lb per yard; care WA-P (washable or dry clean). Cotton and linen are lined here for the sun, and they move a little with the humidity, which is part of the look. Listed as Oeko-Tex.
Limitations
No privacy at night with the lights on, and no blackout; it is layered where either is needed. Railroaded wide-width goods are not cut into Roman shades; for a matching Roman we pick a 54 inch cloth from the same book. The seamless drop tops out at about 9 ft 10 in; a taller wall is seamed or turned back up the roll. No fire listing from Alendel, so a commercial or condo common-area job needs a certificate arranged for the project or another cloth.
