See It On Your Own Window

Take a photo of your window, pick any Lutron, Phifer, Mermet or Alendel fabric, and see the two together before you spend a dollar. Compare two fabrics side by side, or layer a sheer behind drapes. Free, no sign-up, and the colour comes from the mill's own swatch.

How It Works

Why this one is different

The real colourway, not a guess

Other visualizers offer you "beige roller shade". This one is built on the mills' own fabric libraries, and the picture is made using the mill's own photograph of the exact colourway you chose, so the tone is a close reference to the real colourway. Screens differ, so treat the picture as an illustration and confirm the colour on a physical sample before you order.

5,624 fabrics, four mills

Lutron's complete library (921 colourways: solar screens in every openness, blackouts, the Atelier textures, honeycombs, sheer blinds and wood blinds), Phifer SheerWeave (526), Mermet (357) and Alendel's drapery and sheer fabrics (3,820). Filter by type and colour, then open the full specification page for the one you like.

Mark the window

A room with several windows? Drag a box over the one you want dressed, or over up to four, and the picture leaves every other window exactly as it is. No mouse? Add the box from the keyboard and type where it sits.

Compare and layer

Put two fabrics side by side on the same photo, or layer a sheer behind your drapes, and choose ripplefold, pinch pleat or grommet headings.

What happens to your photo

Your photo is resized on your device, then sent once, through our website, to Google's Gemini image model, which makes the picture. We do not keep the photo or the picture, and there is no account, no email address and no newsletter. Google does not use them to improve its products and holds requests for a limited time to check for misuse. Save the picture if you want it; the details are in our privacy policy.

Then the honest part

A picture is a starting point. What decides the result is the measurement, the mount, the openness for that exposure and the fabric in your hand. That is the free consultation, and it is where we earn the job.

Getting A Good Picture

Three things that make the difference

Stand back far enough that the whole window is in the frame, with a little of the wall on each side. The computer needs to see where the window ends to hang the shade on it.

Shoot straight on rather than from the side of the room, and shoot in daylight. A window photographed at a sharp angle, or at night against a dark pane, gives the weakest result, and so does a shot with the sun blazing directly into the lens.

Leave the room as you live in it. The furniture, the floor and the view stay exactly as they are in your photo; only the window treatment is added, so the more the picture looks like your room, the more useful the answer.

Good to Know

The visualizer: frequently asked

Is this what my shade will really look like?

It is a visualization, not a photograph of the finished shade. The colour is taken from the mill's own swatch image of the exact colourway, so the tone is a close reference, while the fit, the folds and the light are the computer's best guess at your room. The physical sample, in your light, decides. The real thing is decided at the free measurement, with the fabric in your hand.

What happens to my photo?

It is resized in your browser and sent once, through our website, to Google's Gemini image model, which makes the picture and sends it back to your screen. If you marked windows, a marked copy of the photo goes with it. We do not keep the photo or the picture, we do not publish them, and you are not asked for an email address. Under Google's terms for paid use, Google does not use them to improve its products and keeps requests for a limited period (it states 55 days) to detect misuse. The details are in our privacy policy.

Which photo works best?

One taken straight on, in daylight, with the whole window in the frame and the room lit as you normally live in it. Photos taken at a sharp angle, at night, or with the sun blazing straight into the lens give the weakest results.

Can I see several fabrics on the same window?

Yes. Add a second fabric and the two are made on the same photo, side by side, or make one picture at a time and flip between them under the picture. With drapery you can also layer a sheer behind the drapes. If your room has several windows, drag a box over the one you want dressed, or add the box from the keyboard and type where it sits.

Do you actually carry these fabrics?

All of them. We are a certified Lutron dealer and we work with Phifer, Mermet and Alendel. The picker holds the same colourways as our fabric library pages: 921 from Lutron, 526 from Phifer, 357 from Mermet and 3,820 from Alendel. Shortlist the ones you like and we bring the samples to the consultation.

Can I get a price for what I am looking at?

Yes. The What it costs button under the picture opens our instant price tool with your fabric, colour and treatment already selected. Roller shades and drapery get a budgetary figure by window size and motor type. Roman shades, honeycomb, wood and sheer blinds and outdoor shades are priced after the free in-home measurement, so for those the tool takes your request instead of showing a figure. The written quote follows the free in-home measurement.

The picture is free. So is the measurement.
