A Person Looks At It

Still not sure? Send it to us

Some fabrics need a trained eye, and some come from mills that are not in the finder. Send the photo and what you know. We reply within one business day with the fabric's name when we can place it, or with the closest fabrics we can make it in.

How It Works

A name finds it exactly. A photo finds the closest look.

Type what you know

A design, a colour, a code or an openness: SheerWeave 2390 charcoal, E Screen 3%, RF-AND3-06, blue velvet. The finder searches as you type, inside your own browser, across every colourway in the library.

Or show it

First the photo is read: the weave, the pattern, the colours, and any printed label or sample card in the picture. Then the nearest swatches from our library, up to 36 of them, are compared with it side by side.

Closest first, and why

Each result is marked Very close, Close or Similar look, with a line on what matches and what differs. Tap a swatch to see it enlarged next to your own photo, and open the other colours of the same design.

Colour is the weak point of any photo

A warm lamp turns white into cream, and a shade at a window glows. If the colour came out wrong, tell the finder the real colour with one tap and it searches again. On a plain white or beige cloth, expect a shortlist of look-alikes, not one name.

Nothing is kept by us

Your photo is resized in your own browser and sent, through our website, to Anthropic's Claude AI model, which reads it for your search only. We do not store it, and there is no account and no email address. It reaches our inbox only if you press Send in the form on this page, because you want a person to look at it. Details in our privacy policy.

Then the sample decides

From any result you can request the sample, see the fabric on your own window in the visualizer, or get a budgetary price. A screen cannot show you a fabric in your light. The sample in your hand does.

Getting A Good Match

Three things that make the difference

Get close. Let the fabric fill the picture, about a hand's width of cloth across, so the weave is visible. A photo of a whole room tells the finder the colour and little else.

Use daylight and switch the flash off. Photograph the fabric flat and straight on, away from a lamp. If there is a label, a sample card or printing along the edge of the cloth, put it in the picture: a name we can read beats any comparison.

If the photo shows more than the fabric, drag a box over the fabric. For a shade or a curtain already hanging at a window, a close-up of the fabric itself works far better than a picture of the window.

Good to Know

The fabric finder: frequently asked

How sure is the match?

A typed name, or a label we can read in your photo, gives the exact colourway. A photo on its own gives the closest looks, not a certificate: many plain weaves are near twins and a camera shifts colour. The finder is strongest on patterned, textured and strongly coloured fabrics. For a plain white or beige cloth it returns look-alikes, not one name. Treat a photo match as a shortlist and confirm it on the physical sample.

What happens to my photo?

It is resized in your browser and sent, through our website, to Anthropic's Claude AI model, which reads it and compares it with our swatches, for that search only. Anthropic does not train its models on it and deletes it within 30 days. We do not keep it, publish it or add it to any list, and you are not asked for an email address. Words typed on their own are searched inside your own browser and go nowhere. The photo only reaches our inbox if you choose to send it with the form on this page.

Which photo works best?

A close-up in daylight with the fabric filling the picture, taken straight on with the flash off. Put the label, the sample card or any printing on the edge of the cloth in the picture if there is one. If other things are in the photo, drag a box over the fabric.

Can I search without a photo?

Yes. Type a design name, a colour, a product code, an openness such as 3%, or plain words such as blue velvet or white blackout. Results appear as you type. A photo only adds matching by look.

Which fabrics does it know?

The 6,790 colourways that have their own swatch picture in our six libraries: Lutron (921), Phifer (526), Mermet (357), Crestron (456), TOP Window Covering (710) and Alendel (3,820). They are the same colourways as on the library pages, so every result opens a page with the mill's own figures.

What if my fabric is not in your library?

Then the finder says so and shows the nearest fabrics we do carry. The library holds the mills we fabricate with every day, not every fabric ever woven. Send us the photo with the form on this page and we will tell you whether we can source it, or propose the closest fabric we can make your shades or draperies in.

What can I do once I have found it?

Request the sample: we bring it to your free in-home consultation or set it out at a showroom by appointment. Where the fabric is supported you can see it on your own window in the visualizer, and you can ask for a budgetary price. The written quote follows the free measurement.
