Ignite is a sheer from Alendel, listed in 7 colourways, in 58% linen, 28% recycled polyester and 14% organic cotton, at 120 in wide, railroaded. The width is the reason to look at it: railroaded, the 120 in becomes the drop, so a wall of glass up to about 10 ft high runs seamless from end to end, which is how we sew sheers across an ocean wall. Linen brings the slub and the matte hand, and it moves a little with the humidity, which is part of its character; it wants a lining that carries the UV load, and on a west window we line generously so the face does not fade. Care is WA-P (washable or dry clean). Alendel lists no fire test for it, so it is a residential cloth unless a treated lining or a certificate is arranged for the project. Every colourway is listed as Oeko-Tex.

Best use
Sheers are our most requested drapery and Ignite is used as one: floor to ceiling on a ceiling-mounted track, ripplefold or pinch pleat, set at 2.5 to 3 times fullness so the wave is even from end to end. The wide width means a whole wall in one piece.
Light and privacy
A sheer filters hard sunlight into an even glow and keeps the view; it takes the glare off a white sofa without hiding the water. It gives no privacy at night with the lights on, so a bedroom takes a lined or blackout panel on a second track behind it, and it is not a blackout.
Cloth and care
58% linen, 28% recycled polyester and 14% organic cotton; care WA-P (washable or dry clean). Cotton and linen are lined here for the sun, and they move a little with the humidity, which is part of the look. Listed as Oeko-Tex.
Limitations
No privacy at night with the lights on, and no blackout; it is layered where either is needed. Railroaded wide-width goods are not cut into Roman shades; for a matching Roman we pick a 54 inch cloth from the same book. The seamless drop tops out at about 10 ft; a taller wall is seamed or turned back up the roll. No fire listing from Alendel, so a commercial or condo common-area job needs a certificate arranged for the project or another cloth.
