A sheer at 121 in, railroaded to run seamless, in 5 colourways
Alendel lists Rainfall as a sheer in 5 colourways, in 56% linen, 29% recycled polyester and 15% organic cotton, at 121 in wide, railroaded. The card is Antique, Ash, Beige, Gunmetal and Milk; Alendel files them under beige, grey and white. All 5 flagged in stock by Alendel. It sits in Alendel's Ecosystem Book.
At 121 in the cloth is turned sideways and the width becomes the height, so a window wall up to about 10 ft 1 in tall carries no seam at all; that is the wide-width advantage on floor-to-ceiling glass. Alendel gives the repeat as vertical 2.2 in; we match it across every seam and every window in the room, which adds yardage and is part of the quote. Linen brings the slub and the matte hand, and it moves a little with the humidity, which is part of its character; it wants a lining that carries the UV load, and on a west window we line generously so the face does not fade. Care is WA-P (washable or dry clean). Alendel lists no fire test for it, so it is a residential cloth unless a treated lining or a certificate is arranged for the project. Best use
Rainfall is a sheer, so it goes where the point is daylight and the view: living rooms and dining rooms on the water, a wall of sliders, a bedroom by day with a blackout layer behind it for night. Railroaded at 121 in it runs seamless across a window wall on a ceiling track, ripplefold at 2.5 to 3 times fullness.
Light and privacy
A sheer filters hard sunlight into an even glow and keeps the view; it takes the glare off a white sofa without hiding the water. It gives no privacy at night with the lights on, so a bedroom takes a lined or blackout panel on a second track behind it, and it is not a blackout.
Cloth and care
56% linen, 29% recycled polyester and 15% organic cotton; care WA-P (washable or dry clean). Cotton and linen are lined here for the sun, and they move a little with the humidity, which is part of the look. Listed as Oeko-Tex.
Limitations
No privacy at night with the lights on, and no blackout; it is layered where either is needed. Railroaded wide-width goods are not cut into Roman shades; for a matching Roman we pick a 54 inch cloth from the same book. The seamless drop tops out at about 10 ft 1 in; a taller wall is seamed or turned back up the roll. No fire listing from Alendel, so a commercial or condo common-area job needs a certificate arranged for the project or another cloth.
