Pienza is one of the Alendel sheers we make up here, with 4 colourways on the card, in 49% polyester, 35% viscose and 16% linen, at 121 in wide, railroaded. The colours run Cream, Greige, Flannel and Primer, across the beige, grey and white families. All 4 flagged in stock by Alendel. It sits in Alendel's Tuscany Book.
At 121 in the cloth is turned sideways and the width becomes the height, so a window wall up to about 10 ft 1 in tall carries no seam at all; that is the wide-width advantage on floor-to-ceiling glass. The linen in it relaxes and tightens with the humidity, which is the look, and like every natural fibre it wants a lining that takes the UV rather than the face cloth. Alendel lists the weight at 1.31 lb per yard, substantial for a sheer, so the track or rod is sized to carry it. Care is WA-P (washable or dry clean). Alendel lists no fire test for it, so it is a residential cloth unless a treated lining or a certificate is arranged for the project. Every colourway is listed as Oeko-Tex.
What Pienza does at the window, and what it does not
Best use
Sheers are our most requested drapery and Pienza is used as one: floor to ceiling on a ceiling-mounted track, ripplefold or pinch pleat, set at 2.5 to 3 times fullness so the wave is even from end to end. The wide width means a whole wall in one piece.
Light and privacy
A sheer filters hard sunlight into an even glow and keeps the view; it takes the glare off a white sofa without hiding the water. It gives no privacy at night with the lights on, so a bedroom takes a lined or blackout panel on a second track behind it, and it is not a blackout.
Cloth and care
49% polyester, 35% viscose and 16% linen; 1.31 lb per yard; care WA-P (washable or dry clean). Cotton and linen are lined here for the sun, and they move a little with the humidity, which is part of the look. Listed as Oeko-Tex.
Limitations
No privacy at night with the lights on, and no blackout; it is layered where either is needed. Railroaded wide-width goods are not cut into Roman shades; for a matching Roman we pick a 54 inch cloth from the same book. The seamless drop tops out at about 10 ft 1 in; a taller wall is seamed or turned back up the roll. No fire listing from Alendel, so a commercial or condo common-area job needs a certificate arranged for the project or another cloth.
