4 colourways of sheer from Cashew to Leopard, 121 in wide and railroaded

Stefano is one of the Alendel sheers we make up here, with 4 colourways on the card, in 35% polyester, 33% cotton and 32% linen, at 121 in wide, railroaded. The card is Cashew, Chamois, Leopard and Stucco; Alendel files them under beige and black. All 4 flagged in stock by Alendel. It sits in Alendel's Tuscany Book.

The width is the reason to look at it: railroaded, the 121 in becomes the drop, so a wall of glass up to about 10 ft 1 in high runs seamless from end to end, which is how we sew sheers across an ocean wall. The repeat is vertical 6.77 in, horizontal 5.79 in, matched across seams and from window to window, so the yardage is figured on the repeat rather than the finished size. Linen brings the slub and the matte hand, and it moves a little with the humidity, which is part of its character; it wants a lining that carries the UV load, and on a west window we line generously so the face does not fade. It weighs 0.89 lb per yard by Alendel's listing, which is on the light side. Care is WA-P (washable or dry clean); Alendel's own line reads: washable, dry clean. It carries FMVSS 302, the automotive interior test. Every colourway is listed as Oeko-Tex.

Best Use & Limits

What Stefano does at the window, and what it does not

Best use

Stefano is a sheer, so it goes where the point is daylight and the view: living rooms and dining rooms on the water, a wall of sliders, a bedroom by day with a blackout layer behind it for night. Railroaded at 121 in it runs seamless across a window wall on a ceiling track, ripplefold at 2.5 to 3 times fullness.

Light and privacy

A sheer filters hard sunlight into an even glow and keeps the view; it takes the glare off a white sofa without hiding the water. It gives no privacy at night with the lights on, so a bedroom takes a lined or blackout panel on a second track behind it, and it is not a blackout.

Cloth and care

35% polyester, 33% cotton and 32% linen; 0.89 lb per yard; care WA-P (washable or dry clean). Cotton and linen are lined here for the sun, and they move a little with the humidity, which is part of the look. Listed as Oeko-Tex.

Limitations

No privacy at night with the lights on, and no blackout; it is layered where either is needed. Railroaded wide-width goods are not cut into Roman shades; for a matching Roman we pick a 54 inch cloth from the same book. The seamless drop tops out at about 10 ft 1 in; a taller wall is seamed or turned back up the roll.

Width, content, repeat, care code, fire listings and weight per yard are Alendel's own listing for each colourway, captured from its trade catalogue; the stock flag is Alendel's public availability filter on the day we read it and is confirmed against the order before anything is cut. South Florida

Where Stefano works here

Stefano is a sheer we would put on the ocean side of a Sunny Isles or Fort Lauderdale living room, floor to ceiling on a ceiling-mounted track, with the fullness set for the cloth so the wave is even from end to end. The 121 in width means the whole wall in one piece. Layered over a solar roller the room keeps its view by day; behind it a blackout panel on a second track takes care of the night.

For the same use, compare Stefano with Brent (sheer, 116 in railroaded, 19 colourways), Avery (sheer, 118 in railroaded, 5 colourways) and Arezzo (sheer, 121 in railroaded, 4 colourways); the table on each page lists the width, content, care code, fire listings and weight side by side.

Good to Know

Stefano: frequently asked

How many colours does Alendel Stefano come in?

4 colourways by Alendel's listing, all 4 flagged in stock by Alendel. Every one is on this page with its swatch, colour code and FB item number, and we bring the shortlist to the consultation so the colour is judged in your own light.

Is Stefano Oeko-Tex?

Alendel lists every Stefano colourway as Oeko-Tex, the textile-chemistry listing. Where a client or a project wants the paperwork we request it from Alendel before the cloth is ordered.

Is Stefano a fire-rated fabric?

Alendel lists it as passing FMVSS 302, which are upholstery and automotive tests rather than the drapery flame test. For a residence that is not an issue; for a commercial or condo common-area job that asks for NFPA 701 we would pick a listed cloth or arrange a treated lining and a certificate for the project.

What does Stefano cost made up as sheers?

It is quoted from the yardage: the width and height of the window, the fullness, the repeat if there is one, the lining and the track or rod. The pricing page has real numbers for sheers, motorized tracks and blackout draperies, and a quote for Stefano follows from a measure. Ask for a price with the button above and we come back with a figure, not a range.
