A 120 in drapery cloth in 100% polyester with 26 colourways
Atom is one of the Alendel drapery cloths we make up here, with 26 colourways on the card, in 100% polyester, at 120 in wide, railroaded. The colours run Nutmeg, Pool, Refresh, Stucco, Amour, Bamboo, Surf, Treasure and 18 more, across the brown, blue, beige, pink, yellow and green families. All 26 flagged in stock by Alendel. It sits in Alendel's Astronomy Book.
At 120 in the cloth is turned sideways and the width becomes the height, so a window wall up to about 10 ft tall carries no seam at all; that is the wide-width advantage on floor-to-ceiling glass. Polyester holds its pleat and its size in humid air and after cleaning, and stands up to Florida sun better than cotton or linen does. Alendel lists the weight at 1.15 lb per yard, substantial for a drapery cloth, so the track or rod is sized to carry it. Care is WA-P (washable or dry clean). It passes NFPA 701 and CAN/ULC S109, the drapery flame tests asked for on commercial and condo common-area work in the US and Canada; it also carries CAL 117, an upholstery flammability listing; and FMVSS 302, the automotive interior test. Every colourway is listed as Oeko-Tex.
What Atom does at the window, and what it does not
Best use
Atom is a drapery cloth at 120 in, railroaded, so it is for panels rather than Roman shades: ripplefold or pinch pleat on a track, floor to ceiling across a wall of glass with no seam.
Light and privacy
Closed, Atom gives full privacy. What the room looks like closed comes from the lining we sew in: light-filtering for living areas, interlining for body and acoustics, blackout for bedrooms. The lining also carries the UV load off the face cloth.
Cloth and care
100% polyester; 1.15 lb per yard; care WA-P (washable or dry clean); 63,500 rubs abrasion. Polyester keeps its size and its pleat in humid air and after cleaning, and holds its colour in the sun better than a natural fibre. Listed as Oeko-Tex.
Limitations
Railroaded wide-width goods are not cut into Roman shades; for a matching Roman we pick a 54 inch cloth from the same book. The weight needs a track or rod sized for it; a light decorative rod will bow.
