Alendel Interstellar Fabric
30 colourways, drapery cloth, 118 in wide, railroaded, NFPA 701. Every swatch and every Alendel specification, from the workroom that sews it in Fort Lauderdale and installs it from Miami to Palm Beach.
A 118 in drapery cloth in 83% recycled polyester and 17% polyester with 30 colourways
Interstellar is one of the Alendel drapery cloths we make up here, with 30 colourways on the card, in 83% recycled polyester and 17% polyester, at 118 in wide, railroaded. The card is Aqua, Army, Rose, Barley, Beryl, Saffron, Seal, Turquoise plus 22 more; Alendel files them under blue, green, pink, beige, orange and grey. 29 of the 30 flagged in stock by Alendel. It sits in Alendel's Astronomy Book.
The width is the reason to look at it: railroaded, the 118 in becomes the drop, so a wall of glass up to about 9 ft 10 in high runs seamless from end to end, which is how we sew a drapery across a window wall without a seam. Polyester holds its pleat and its size in humid air and after cleaning, and stands up to Florida sun better than cotton or linen does. Alendel lists the weight at 1.20 lb per yard, substantial for a drapery cloth, so the track or rod is sized to carry it. Care is WA-P (washable or dry clean). It passes NFPA 701 and CAN/ULC S109, the drapery flame tests asked for on commercial and condo common-area work in the US and Canada; it also carries CAL 117, an upholstery flammability listing; and FMVSS 302, the automotive interior test. Every colourway is listed as Oeko-Tex.
What Interstellar does at the window, and what it does not
Best use
Interstellar is a drapery cloth at 118 in, railroaded, so it is for panels rather than Roman shades: ripplefold or pinch pleat on a track, floor to ceiling across a wall of glass with no seam.
Light and privacy
An opaque cloth, so privacy is complete when it is closed. The light is decided by the lining: light-filtering keeps a living room glowing, thermal or bump interlining adds body and quiet, blackout turns a bedroom dark. Interstellar is lined in every case; on west glass we line generously so the face does not fade.
Cloth and care
83% recycled polyester and 17% polyester; 1.20 lb per yard; care WA-P (washable or dry clean); 93,000 rubs abrasion. Polyester keeps its size and its pleat in humid air and after cleaning, and holds its colour in the sun better than a natural fibre. Listed as Oeko-Tex.
Limitations
Railroaded wide-width goods are not cut into Roman shades; for a matching Roman we pick a 54 inch cloth from the same book. The weight needs a track or rod sized for it; a light decorative rod will bow. 1 of the 30 colour is not flagged in stock, so that colour is a mill order with a longer lead time; we confirm stock before anything is cut.

Width, content, repeat, care code, fire listings and weight per yard are Alendel's own listing for each colourway, captured from its trade catalogue; the stock flag is Alendel's public availability filter on the day we read it and is confirmed against the order before anything is cut. Where Interstellar works here
Interstellar is a wide-width drapery cloth, so it goes on the big glass: ripplefold on a ceiling track across a Brickell living room wall, motorized on Lutron or Somfy so thirty feet of fabric glides open in silence, lined for the sun. It is cut and sewn in our Fort Lauderdale workroom and installed by our own team from Miami to Palm Beach.
For the same use, compare Interstellar with Apollo (drapery cloth, 118 in railroaded, 35 colourways), Atom (drapery cloth, 120 in railroaded, 26 colourways) and Legion (drapery cloth, 118 in railroaded, 24 colourways); the table on each page lists the width, content, care code, fire listings and weight side by side.
Interstellar: frequently asked
How many colours does Alendel Interstellar come in?
30 colourways by Alendel's listing, 29 of the 30 flagged in stock by Alendel. Every one is on this page with its swatch, colour code and FB item number, and we bring the shortlist to the consultation so the colour is judged in your own light.
Can Interstellar run seamless across a whole wall of glass?
Yes. At 118 in it is railroaded: the cloth is turned sideways, the width becomes the drop, and a window wall up to about 9 ft 10 in high carries no seam. Taller than that it is seamed, or run up the roll with a seam at each width.
Does Interstellar pass NFPA 701?
Yes by Alendel's listing: Interstellar passes NFPA 701, CAN/ULC S109, CAL 117 and FMVSS 302. NFPA 701 is the flame test a condo association, a hotel or an office asks for on drapery; where a project needs the certificate we request it from Alendel before the cloth is ordered.
What does Interstellar cost made up as draperies?
It is quoted from the yardage: the width and height of the window, the fullness, the repeat if there is one, the lining and the track or rod. The pricing page has real numbers for sheers, motorized tracks and blackout draperies, and a quote for Interstellar follows from a measure. Ask for a price with the button above and we come back with a figure, not a range.
