A sheer at 122 in, railroaded to run seamless, in 1 colourway

Crisp is a sheer from Alendel, listed in 1 colourway, in 59% linen, 27% recycled polyester and 14% organic cotton, at 122 in wide, railroaded. The single colour is Light Taupe, filed by Alendel under beige. Flagged in stock by Alendel. It sits in Alendel's Ecosystem Book.

The width is the reason to look at it: railroaded, the 122 in becomes the drop, so a wall of glass up to about 10 ft 2 in high runs seamless from end to end, which is how we sew sheers across an ocean wall. The repeat is vertical 0.6 in, matched across seams and from window to window, so the yardage is figured on the repeat rather than the finished size. The linen in it relaxes and tightens with the humidity, which is the look, and like every natural fibre it wants a lining that takes the UV rather than the face cloth. Care is WA-P (washable or dry clean). Alendel lists no fire test for it, so it is a residential cloth unless a treated lining or a certificate is arranged for the project. Every colourway is listed as Oeko-Tex.

Best Use & Limits

What Crisp does at the window, and what it does not

Best use

Crisp is a sheer, so it goes where the point is daylight and the view: living rooms and dining rooms on the water, a wall of sliders, a bedroom by day with a blackout layer behind it for night. Railroaded at 122 in it runs seamless across a window wall on a ceiling track, ripplefold at 2.5 to 3 times fullness.

Light and privacy

A sheer filters hard sunlight into an even glow and keeps the view; it takes the glare off a white sofa without hiding the water. It gives no privacy at night with the lights on, so a bedroom takes a lined or blackout panel on a second track behind it, and it is not a blackout.

Cloth and care

59% linen, 27% recycled polyester and 14% organic cotton; care WA-P (washable or dry clean). Cotton and linen are lined here for the sun, and they move a little with the humidity, which is part of the look. Listed as Oeko-Tex.

Limitations

No privacy at night with the lights on, and no blackout; it is layered where either is needed. Railroaded wide-width goods are not cut into Roman shades; for a matching Roman we pick a 54 inch cloth from the same book. The seamless drop tops out at about 10 ft 2 in; a taller wall is seamed or turned back up the roll. No fire listing from Alendel, so a commercial or condo common-area job needs a certificate arranged for the project or another cloth.

South Florida

Where Crisp works here

Nothing suits a wall of South Florida glass like a sheer, and Crisp goes where our sheers go: Brickell and Miami Beach condos, Fort Lauderdale waterfront homes, Boca Raton and Palm Beach island. Railroaded at 122 in it runs seamless on a recessed Somfy or Lutron track across an ocean wall, the fullness trimmed so the stack clears the glass, over a solar roller for the glare by day. Every panel is cut and sewn by our five in-house seamstresses in Fort Lauderdale.

For the same use, compare Crisp with Gravity (sheer, 125 in railroaded, 7 colourways), Ignite (sheer, 120 in railroaded, 7 colourways) and Ecotone (sheer, 125 in railroaded, 6 colourways); the table on each page lists the width, content, care code, fire listings and weight side by side.

Good to Know

Crisp: frequently asked

How many colours does Alendel Crisp come in?

1 colourway by Alendel's listing, flagged in stock by Alendel. Every one is on this page with its swatch, colour code and FB item number, and we bring the shortlist to the consultation so the colour is judged in your own light.

Can Crisp be made into a Roman shade?

We do not cut railroaded wide-width goods into Roman shades; the weave runs the wrong way for the folds. For a matching Roman we pick a 54 inch cloth from the same Alendel book, and the panels stay in Crisp.

Do you match the Crisp repeat?

Always. Alendel lists the repeat at vertical 0.6 in, and we match it across every seam and every window in the room, so the yardage is figured on the repeat rather than the finished size and is part of the quote.

What does Crisp cost made up as sheers?

It is quoted from the yardage: the width and height of the window, the fullness, the repeat if there is one, the lining and the track or rod. The pricing page has real numbers for sheers, motorized tracks and blackout draperies, and a quote for Crisp follows from a measure. Ask for a price with the button above and we come back with a figure, not a range.
