Genetic is a sheer from Alendel, listed in 4 colourways, in 43% recycled polyester, 34% linen and 23% organic cotton, at 121 in wide, railroaded. The colours run Bridal, Cement, Cloud and Whitetail, across the white and grey families. All 4 flagged in stock by Alendel. It sits in Alendel's Ecosystem Book.
At 121 in the cloth is turned sideways and the width becomes the height, so a window wall up to about 10 ft 1 in tall carries no seam at all; that is the wide-width advantage on floor-to-ceiling glass. The repeat is vertical 4.2 in, matched across seams and from window to window, so the yardage is figured on the repeat rather than the finished size. Linen brings the slub and the matte hand, and it moves a little with the humidity, which is part of its character; it wants a lining that carries the UV load, and on a west window we line generously so the face does not fade. Care is WA-P (washable or dry clean). Alendel lists no fire test for it, so it is a residential cloth unless a treated lining or a certificate is arranged for the project. Every colourway is listed as Oeko-Tex.

Best use
Sheers are our most requested drapery and Genetic is used as one: floor to ceiling on a ceiling-mounted track, ripplefold or pinch pleat, set at 2.5 to 3 times fullness so the wave is even from end to end. The wide width means a whole wall in one piece.
Light and privacy
By day it softens the light and frames the view. After dark, with the room lit, the room is visible from outside: sheers are layered with a blackout or lined panel where privacy matters, or with a solar roller behind for glare by day.
Cloth and care
43% recycled polyester, 34% linen and 23% organic cotton; care WA-P (washable or dry clean). Cotton and linen are lined here for the sun, and they move a little with the humidity, which is part of the look. Listed as Oeko-Tex.
Limitations
No privacy at night with the lights on, and no blackout; it is layered where either is needed. Railroaded wide-width goods are not cut into Roman shades; for a matching Roman we pick a 54 inch cloth from the same book. The seamless drop tops out at about 10 ft 1 in; a taller wall is seamed or turned back up the roll. No fire listing from Alendel, so a commercial or condo common-area job needs a certificate arranged for the project or another cloth.
