3 colourways of heavy drapery cloth, 122 in wide

Perseus is a drapery cloth from Alendel, listed in 3 colourways, in 83% recycled polyester and 17% polyester, at 122 in wide, railroaded. The colours run Angel, Atlantis and Canvas, across the white, blue and beige families. All 3 flagged in stock by Alendel. It sits in Alendel's Constellation Book.

The width is the reason to look at it: railroaded, the 122 in becomes the drop, so a wall of glass up to about 10 ft 2 in high runs seamless from end to end, which is how we sew a drapery across a window wall without a seam. Alendel gives the repeat as vertical 23.8 in, horizontal 25.9 in; we match it across every seam and every window in the room, which adds yardage and is part of the quote. Being polyester it holds a pleat, keeps its size through humidity and a wash or a dry clean, and takes the sun better than a natural fibre, which matters on unshaded glass here. It weighs 1.79 lb per yard by Alendel's listing, and a cloth of that weight is hung on a track or rod sized for it. Care is WA-P (washable or dry clean). It passes NFPA 701 and CAN/ULC S109, the drapery flame tests asked for on commercial and condo common-area work in the US and Canada. Every colourway is listed as Oeko-Tex. Country of origin, as Alendel lists it: India.

Best Use & Limits

What Perseus does at the window, and what it does not

Best use

Perseus is a drapery cloth at 122 in, railroaded, so it is for panels rather than Roman shades: ripplefold or pinch pleat on a track, floor to ceiling across a wall of glass with no seam.

Light and privacy

An opaque cloth, so privacy is complete when it is closed. The light is decided by the lining: light-filtering keeps a living room glowing, thermal or bump interlining adds body and quiet, blackout turns a bedroom dark. Perseus is lined in every case; on west glass we line generously so the face does not fade.

Cloth and care

83% recycled polyester and 17% polyester; 1.79 lb per yard; care WA-P (washable or dry clean); 80,000 rubs abrasion. Polyester keeps its size and its pleat in humid air and after cleaning, and holds its colour in the sun better than a natural fibre. Listed as Oeko-Tex.

Limitations

Railroaded wide-width goods are not cut into Roman shades; for a matching Roman we pick a 54 inch cloth from the same book. The weight needs a track or rod sized for it; a light decorative rod will bow.

Width, content, repeat, care code, fire listings and weight per yard are Alendel's own listing for each colourway, captured from its trade catalogue; the stock flag is Alendel's public availability filter on the day we read it and is confirmed against the order before anything is cut. Where Perseus works here

Perseus is a wide-width drapery cloth, so it goes on the big glass: ripplefold on a ceiling track across a Brickell living room wall, motorized on Lutron or Somfy so thirty feet of fabric glides open in silence, lined for the sun. It is cut and sewn in our Fort Lauderdale workroom and installed by our own team from Miami to Palm Beach.

For the same use, compare Perseus with Ursa (drapery cloth, 122 in railroaded, 9 colourways), Bootes (drapery cloth, 122 in railroaded, 8 colourways) and Canna (drapery cloth, 122 in railroaded, 8 colourways); the table on each page lists the width, content, care code, fire listings and weight side by side.

Good to Know

Perseus: frequently asked

How many colours does Alendel Perseus come in?

3 colourways by Alendel's listing, all 3 flagged in stock by Alendel. Every one is on this page with its swatch, colour code and FB item number, and we bring the shortlist to the consultation so the colour is judged in your own light.

Can Perseus be made into a Roman shade?

We do not cut railroaded wide-width goods into Roman shades; the weave runs the wrong way for the folds. For a matching Roman we pick a 54 inch cloth from the same Alendel book, and the panels stay in Perseus.

Does Perseus pass NFPA 701?

Yes by Alendel's listing: Perseus passes NFPA 701 and CAN/ULC S109. NFPA 701 is the flame test a condo association, a hotel or an office asks for on drapery; where a project needs the certificate we request it from Alendel before the cloth is ordered.

What does Perseus cost made up as draperies?

It is quoted from the yardage: the width and height of the window, the fullness, the repeat if there is one, the lining and the track or rod. The pricing page has real numbers for sheers, motorized tracks and blackout draperies, and a quote for Perseus follows from a measure. Ask for a price with the button above and we come back with a figure, not a range.
