Switch is one of the Alendel chenilles we make up here, with 32 colourways on the card, in 100% polyester, at 55 to 55.12 in wide. The 55 to 55.12 in width runs up the roll, so panels are made of joined widths with the seams hidden in the pleats, and a Roman shade under about 50 inches finished is cut from a single width. Polyester holds its pleat and its size in humid air and after cleaning, and stands up to Florida sun better than cotton or linen does. Care is WA-P (washable or dry clean). It carries CAL 117, an upholstery flammability listing.
What Switch does at the window, and what it does not
Best use
We make Switch up as draperies and as Roman shades, and the two are ordered from one bolt so the repeat and the dye lot match from room to room. A plain like this takes a relaxed or hobbled fold as well as a flat one.
Light and privacy
Closed, Switch gives full privacy. What the room looks like closed comes from the lining we sew in: light-filtering for living areas, interlining for body and acoustics, blackout for bedrooms. The lining also carries the UV load off the face cloth.
Cloth and care
100% polyester; care WA-P (washable or dry clean); 200,000 rubs abrasion. Polyester keeps its size and its pleat in humid air and after cleaning, and holds its colour in the sun better than a natural fibre.
Limitations
At 55 to 55.12 in a wide panel is made of joined widths; the seams sit inside the pleats. 7 of the 32 colours are not flagged in stock, so those are a mill order with a longer lead time; we confirm stock before anything is cut.

Alendel lists it as passing CAL 117, which is an upholstery test rather than the drapery flame test. For a residence that is not an issue; for a commercial or condo common-area job that asks for NFPA 701 we would pick a listed cloth or arrange a treated lining and a certificate for the project.
Can Switch be made into a Roman shade?
Yes. At 55 to 55.12 in it is cut up the roll, so a flat, relaxed or hobbled Roman shade comes from a single width up to roughly 50 inches finished and is seamed on a fold line beyond that. Lined, interlined or blackout-lined, cordless or on a Lutron or Somfy motor, sewn in the same workroom as the panels.
