2 colourways of medium-weight plain, 54 in wide

Thea is one of the Alendel plain cloths we make up here, with 2 colourways on the card, in 100% polyester, at 54 in wide. The colours run Anchor and Rustic, across the grey and beige families. All 2 flagged in stock by Alendel. It sits in Alendel's C.I. Luxe Book.

At 54 in it is cut up the roll like a conventional drapery cloth: a panel joins widths at the seam, which sits inside a pleat, and a Roman shade takes one width up to roughly 50 inches finished before it needs a joined width. The repeat is vertical 9.65 in, horizontal 9.06 in, matched across seams and from window to window, so the yardage is figured on the repeat rather than the finished size. Being polyester it holds a pleat, keeps its size through humidity and a wash or a dry clean, and takes the sun better than a natural fibre, which matters on unshaded glass here. Alendel lists the weight at 0.76 lb per yard, medium-weight for a plain. Care is WA-P (washable or dry clean); Alendel's own line reads: washable, dry clean. It carries CAL 117, an upholstery flammability listing; and FMVSS 302, the automotive interior test. Every colourway is listed as Oeko-Tex. Country of origin, as Alendel lists it: India.

Best Use & Limits

What Thea does at the window, and what it does not

Best use

Thea works both ways from the same bolt: pinch pleat, Euro pleat or ripplefold panels in the main rooms and flat, relaxed or hobbled Roman shades on the secondary windows, so the kitchen, study and baths read as one scheme with the living room.

Light and privacy

An opaque cloth, so privacy is complete when it is closed. The light is decided by the lining: light-filtering keeps a living room glowing, thermal or bump interlining adds body and quiet, blackout turns a bedroom dark. Thea is lined in every case; on west glass we line generously so the face does not fade.

Cloth and care

100% polyester; 0.76 lb per yard; care WA-P (washable or dry clean); 15,000 rubs abrasion. Polyester keeps its size and its pleat in humid air and after cleaning, and holds its colour in the sun better than a natural fibre. Listed as Oeko-Tex.

Limitations

At 54 in a wide panel is made of joined widths; the seams sit inside the pleats, and the repeat is matched at every seam, which costs yardage.

South Florida

Where Thea works here

On a Coral Gables or Boca Raton house Thea runs as pinch pleat or Euro pleat panels on decorative rods in the main rooms and as flat-fold Roman shades over the kitchen sink and in the powder room, matched bolt for bolt. Every panel and shade comes out of the same Fort Lauderdale workroom, and our own team installs from Miami to Palm Beach.

For the same use, compare Thea with Pasha (plain, 54 in, 4 colourways), Zaida (plain, 54 in, 4 colourways) and Lucca (velvet, 57 in, 5 colourways); the table on each page lists the width, content, care code, fire listings and weight side by side.

Good to Know

Thea: frequently asked

How many colours does Alendel Thea come in?

2 colourways by Alendel's listing, all 2 flagged in stock by Alendel. Every one is on this page with its swatch, colour code and FB item number, and we bring the shortlist to the consultation so the colour is judged in your own light.

Is Thea washable?

Alendel gives it care code WA-P (washable or dry clean), so yes: it can be washed, and dry cleaned as well where the code allows it. Alendel's instruction reads: washable, dry clean. The code is in the specification table below for every colourway.

Do you match the Thea repeat?

Always. Alendel lists the repeat at vertical 9.65 in, horizontal 9.06 in, and we match it across every seam and every window in the room, so the yardage is figured on the repeat rather than the finished size and is part of the quote.

What does Thea cost made up as Roman shades and draperies?

It is quoted from the yardage: the width and height of the window, the fullness, the repeat if there is one, the lining and the track or rod. The pricing page has real numbers for sheers, motorized tracks and blackout draperies, and a quote for Thea follows from a measure. Ask for a price with the button above and we come back with a figure, not a range.
