Alendel lists Crinkle as a plain in 15 colourways, in 100% polyester, at 55 in wide. The colours run Alabaster, Ghost, Honeysuckle, Kiwi, Lychee, Moroccan, Oxford, Petal and 7 more, across the beige, white, yellow, green, pink and orange families. All 15 flagged in stock by Alendel. It sits in Alendel's Carraway book.
The 55 in width runs up the roll, so panels are made of joined widths with the seams hidden in the pleats, and a Roman shade under about 50 inches finished is cut from a single width. Polyester holds its pleat and its size in humid air and after cleaning, and stands up to Florida sun better than cotton or linen does. It weighs 0.63 lb per yard by Alendel's listing, which is on the light side. Care is WA-P (washable or dry clean). It passes NFPA 701, the flame test a condo association, hotel or office asks for on drapery; it also carries CAL 117, an upholstery flammability listing; and FMVSS 302, the automotive interior test. What Crinkle does at the window, and what it does not
Best use
We make Crinkle up as draperies and as Roman shades, and the two are ordered from one bolt so the repeat and the dye lot match from room to room. A plain like this takes a relaxed or hobbled fold as well as a flat one.
Light and privacy
Closed, Crinkle gives full privacy. What the room looks like closed comes from the lining we sew in: light-filtering for living areas, interlining for body and acoustics, blackout for bedrooms. The lining also carries the UV load off the face cloth.
Cloth and care
100% polyester; 0.63 lb per yard; care WA-P (washable or dry clean); 30,000 rubs abrasion. Polyester keeps its size and its pleat in humid air and after cleaning, and holds its colour in the sun better than a natural fibre. Listed as Oeko-Tex.
Limitations
At 55 in a wide panel is made of joined widths; the seams sit inside the pleats.
