At 54 in it is cut up the roll like a conventional drapery cloth: a panel joins widths at the seam, which sits inside a pleat, and a Roman shade takes one width up to roughly 50 inches finished before it needs a joined width. The linen in it relaxes and tightens with the humidity, which is the look, and like every natural fibre it wants a lining that takes the UV rather than the face cloth. It weighs 0.77 lb per yard by Alendel's listing, which is on the light side. Best use
We make Harvest Linen up as draperies and as Roman shades, and the two are ordered from one bolt so the repeat and the dye lot match from room to room. A plain like this takes a relaxed or hobbled fold as well as a flat one.
Light and privacy
An opaque cloth, so privacy is complete when it is closed. The light is decided by the lining: light-filtering keeps a living room glowing, thermal or bump interlining adds body and quiet, blackout turns a bedroom dark. Harvest Linen is lined in every case; on west glass we line generously so the face does not fade.
Cloth and care
100% linen; 0.77 lb per yard; care S (dry clean, or spot clean with a dry-cleaning solvent); 15,000 rubs abrasion. Cotton and linen are lined here for the sun, and they move a little with the humidity, which is part of the look.
Limitations
At 54 in a wide panel is made of joined widths; the seams sit inside the pleats. Not for a wet bathroom or a shower window.
