How to Program a Dooya Motor
Pair a remote, set the limits and the preferred position, switch jog mode, reset and charge the Dooya DM28LEU in our Essential roller shades, and what to do with the Essential curtain track.
Find your motor, then follow its steps
Our Essential tier runs on Dooya motors. The DM28LEU in our Essential roller shades answers every programming step with jogs and beeps, and the time you hold its P1 button decides what happens, so count the seconds. The Essential curtain track is set up at installation.
How we wrote this page. Every step comes from Dooya's own manual for the DM28LEU, as filed with the FCC, and Dooya's remote instructions, linked at the end of each section. Dooya does not publish programming instructions for its current curtain motors on its website, so we give no steps for them. Updated October 2026.
Common questions, short answers
How do I pair a remote to a Dooya DM28LEU?
Press P1 on the motor for 2 seconds until it jogs once, then release it; it gives a long beep. Within 10 seconds, press and hold STOP on the remote for 2 seconds. The motor jogs twice and beeps 3 times: paired. If this remote is already paired, the same steps unpair it.

Dooya DM28LEU rechargeable roller shade motor
Models: Dooya DM28LEU, 2 Nm at 28 rpm, with a built-in lithium battery: the motor in our Essential roller shades. Dooya's manual calls it DM28LEU/SH and its 2026 catalogue DM28LEU/S.
The DM28LEU is a rechargeable roller shade motor with a built-in radio receiver. You set it up with the Dooya remote (Dooya calls it an emitter) and the P1 button on the motor, which answers each step with jogs (brief up-and-down moves) and beeps.
How to tell you have one: the motor has a P1 button, a switch marked 0 (power off) and 1 (power on), a charging port and a red or green light. Model and torque are on the nameplate.
You need: the Dooya remote, with UP, STOP, DOWN and a P2 setting button, and a charged motor.
Pair the first remote
- Press P1 on the motor for 2 seconds. The motor jogs once.
- Release P1. The motor gives a long beep, ready to pair.
- Within 10 seconds, press and hold STOP on the remote for 2 seconds. Two jogs and 3 beeps: paired.
If this remote is already paired, the same steps unpair it. The remote drops out of a setting after 10 seconds without a press, so wait for each jog or beep before the next step.
Reverse the direction
- If UP runs the shade down and no limits are set yet, press and hold UP and DOWN together for 2 seconds. The motor jogs once.
Once limits are set, only P1 switches the direction: hold it for 10 seconds until the motor jogs 3 times, then release; it beeps 3 times.
Set the top and bottom stop points (limits)
- Press UP for 2 seconds and bring the shade to the top position you want.
- Press and hold UP and STOP together for 2 seconds. Two jogs and 3 beeps: top limit set.
- Press DOWN for 2 seconds and bring the shade to the bottom position you want.
- Press and hold DOWN and STOP together for 2 seconds. Two jogs and 3 beeps: bottom limit set.
Limit setting ends after 2 minutes without a press, and the limits stay stored when the power is off.
Add or remove a remote
- On a remote that already works, press P2. One jog, one beep.
- Press P2 again. One jog, one beep.
- On the new remote, press and hold STOP for 2 seconds. Two jogs and 3 beeps: paired.
Without a working remote, press P1 for 2 seconds (one jog, then a long beep), then hold STOP on the new remote for 2 seconds. With either method, if this remote is already paired, the same steps unpair it. Adding a remote keeps the motor's settings. It stores up to 20 remote channels.
Set, use or delete the preferred position
The preferred (favorite) position is one stored stop between the limits; set both limits first.
- Bring the shade to the position you want.
- Press P2. One jog, one beep.
- Press STOP. One jog, one beep.
- Press STOP again. Two jogs and 3 beeps: position set.
To go there, press and hold STOP for 2 seconds. To delete it, press P2, STOP, then STOP again; the last press gives one jog and a long beep.
Change a limit
- Press and hold UP and STOP (top) or DOWN and STOP (bottom) together for 5 seconds. One jog and a long beep.
- Bring the shade to the new position.
- Press and hold the same two buttons for 2 seconds. Two jogs and 3 beeps: stored.
Switch between jog mode and continuous mode
In jog mode, one press of UP or DOWN makes a short move; holding it more than 2 seconds runs the shade continuously.
- Press and hold UP and DOWN together for 5 seconds. The motor jogs once.
- Press STOP. One jog and a long beep means jog mode; two jogs and 3 beeps means continuous mode. Repeat to switch back.
Reset to factory settings
- Press and hold P1 for 14 seconds, until the motor jogs 4 times.
- Release P1. The motor beeps 4 times and is back in factory mode.
- The motor now sleeps and ignores the remote. Press P1 for 2 seconds to wake it.
- Pair a remote and set the limits again.
Charge the battery
- Before first use, charge the motor for 6 hours.
- Charge it through the charging port with a 5 V charger, at no more than 5 V, 2 A.
- The light blinks green while it charges and stays green when the battery is full.
- A red light blinking while the shade runs means the battery needs charging. Do not keep using the motor during a low-battery alarm; if the battery runs lower still, the motor stops until recharged.
Careful: the hold time on P1 decides what happens: 2 seconds starts pairing, 6 seconds locks out every remote (radio lock), 10 seconds reverses the direction and 14 seconds resets the motor. Never drill, drop or submerge the motor, and do not cut the antenna. Dooya states that installation and programming are to be performed by a qualified professional.

Dooya motor in our Essential motorized curtain track
Models: our Essential motorized curtain track, powered by Dooya motor technology; the motor model is not stated.
The track opens and closes by remote, wall control or app, depending on configuration, with soft start and stop and programmable limits. Dooya does not publish programming instructions for its current curtain motors on its website, so this page gives no steps.
Installer workWe do this at installation and on service calls.

Dooya remotes (emitters)
Models: the Dooya remote that comes with our Essential shades. Dooya documents the single-channel DC2700AG and the DD7600 series (single-channel DD7600H, DD7660H, DD7660AH; 15-channel DD7602H, DD7662H, DD7662AH).
Dooya remotes run on two AAA batteries, rated by Dooya for more than 2 years. Pairing uses the remote's STOP and P2 buttons: see Pair the first remote and Add or remove a remote.
How to tell which you have: the DC2700AG has one channel, UP, STOP, DOWN and a P2 setting button. DD7600 remotes add JOG UP and JOG DOWN, and the 15-channel models have CH- and CH+.
Channels and batteries
- On a 15-channel remote, give each motor its own channel.
- JOG UP and JOG DOWN run only the channel the remote is set to.
- If the remote seems less sensitive or its range gets shorter, replace the batteries, using only the battery type Dooya specifies (two AAA).
On the DC2700AG, holding any button for more than 10 seconds stops the radio signal.

Frequently asked
How do I add a second remote to my Dooya motor?
On a remote that already works, press P2 (one jog, one beep) and P2 again (another jog and beep), then press and hold STOP on the new remote for 2 seconds: the motor jogs twice and beeps 3 times. Without a working remote, press P1 on the motor for 2 seconds and hold STOP on the new remote for 2 seconds. The same steps remove a remote that is already paired. Adding a remote keeps the motor's settings.
How do I set a favorite position on a Dooya DM28LEU?
Dooya calls it the preferred position, and both limits must be set first. Bring the shade to the position you want, press P2 (one jog, one beep), STOP (one jog, one beep), then STOP again (two jogs, 3 beeps). To go there, press and hold STOP for 2 seconds. To delete it, press P2, STOP, then STOP again.
Why does my Dooya motor ignore the remote?
Dooya lists a low remote battery and being out of radio range: replace the battery or try from closer. A motor whose P1 button was held for 6 seconds is in radio lock and ignores every remote until you press P1 once. Just after a factory reset the motor sleeps; press P1 for 2 seconds to wake it.
How do I switch a Dooya motor between jog and continuous mode?
Press and hold UP and DOWN together for 5 seconds until the motor jogs once, then press STOP. One jog and a long beep means jog mode, where a single press makes a short move and holding more than 2 seconds runs the shade; two jogs and 3 beeps means continuous mode. Repeat to switch back.
What does the red light on my Dooya motor mean?
A red light blinking while the shade runs means the battery needs charging, and Dooya says not to keep using the motor during a low-battery alarm. If the battery runs lower still, the motor stops until it is recharged. While charging the light blinks green; it stays green when the battery is full.
Can I reprogram the Essential motorized curtain track myself?
Dooya does not publish programming instructions for its current curtain motors on its website, and the motor model in our Essential track is not stated, so we give no steps for it. The track is set up at installation; to change its settings, add a remote or connect the app, contact us.
