How to Program Forest Shuttle Curtain Motors
Pair an EasyTouch remote, set the end positions, turn Touch Impulse on or off, reset and charge Forest Shuttle HD, Eco and iOn drapery motors, plus Forest's Roman and roller shade motors.
Find your motor, then follow its steps
A Forest Shuttle learns most of what it needs from the drapery itself: one pull toward closed teaches it the direction and both ends. Everything else is set with a pen on the single button under the motor, by counting presses and watching four small lights, or from a Forest remote. Find your motor in the table, then follow its steps.
How we wrote this page. Every step comes from Forest's own US manuals and instruction sheets, linked at the end of each section. Where a Forest sheet gives two different hold times, we describe the step by what the motor does. Updated October 2026.
Common questions, short answers
How do I pair an EasyTouch remote to my Forest Shuttle?
Select the channel on the remote. With a pen, press the button under the motor 3 times (the lights step to LED3), then press and hold it once more until the green light blinks. Within 10 seconds, press OPEN on the remote; the blinking stops. Press CLOSE to test.
Full stepsHow do I reset a Forest Shuttle motor?
With a pen, press the button under the motor 16 times, then press and hold it once more until the light blinks 3 times and goes off. The end positions and settings are erased: set the end positions again and re-pair your remotes.
Full stepsHow do I turn off Touch Impulse?
Touch Impulse is Forest's pull-to-start feature. With a pen, press the button under the motor 10 times, then press and hold it once more until the light blinks 3 times and goes off. Press 9 times for low sensitivity, or 8 for high, the factory setting.
Full stepsHow do I charge a Forest Shuttle iOn battery?
Squeeze the battery pack to release it and connect the Forest charger. The charger light is orange while charging and turns green when full, after about 5 hours. Push the battery back in until it clicks. A motor running noticeably slower means the battery is low.
Full stepsHow do I set the end positions on a Forest Shuttle?
With the drapery open, pull it toward closed until the motor takes over: this sets the direction and the closed position. The motor closes, reopens by itself and lights the yellow LED4. Within 10 seconds, move the drapery to where it should stack, then leave it until LED4 goes off.
Full stepsWhich Forest motor do you have?
Look under the motor: the Shuttle family has one button and four small lights there.
| Family | Models | How to tell | Go to |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shuttle HD and Eco | 24 V plug-in drapery motors (HD up to 160 lb, Eco up to 100 lb) | One button, four lights and PORT 1 and PORT 2 under the motor; the HD is about 2 in longer than the Eco | Steps |
| Shuttle iOn | Battery drapery motor (up to 55 lb) | A battery pack that clicks into the motor and releases when squeezed | Steps |
| Remotes and switches | EasyTouch remote and wall switch, Diamond Sense remote, older wall switch 52933 | Paired from the motor | Steps |
| App control | Forest Wi-Fi dongle, Bond Bridge Pro | Dongle plugged into PORT 1; Bond set up in the Bond Home app | Steps |
| Roman and roller motors | RBS (AC motor 62903-25), RBS iOn, tubular motors 62901-25 and 68002-25, BCS, Endeavor, Motor 2.0 rods | Most with their own button sequence | Steps |
Forest Shuttle HD and Eco drapery motors
Models: Forest Shuttle HD (up to 160 lb) and Shuttle Eco (up to 100 lb), 24 V plug-in motors on our Forest tracks and rods.
The Shuttle twists and clicks onto the track and runs from a 24 V adaptor. A tug on the drapery teaches it direction and end positions; remotes and settings are set with a pen on the button under the motor. Wired home automation control is installer work.
How to tell you have one: under the motor, one button, four lights (LED1 to LED4) and two ports, PORT 1 and PORT 2. The HD is about 2 in longer than the Eco.
You need: a pen, the motor plugged in, the drapery hung and slid open, and batteries in your Forest remote or wall switch.
Set the end positions on a new motor
- Pull the drapery toward the CLOSE position until the motor takes over. This sets the direction and the closed position.
- The motor closes the drapery, returns it to OPEN by itself and stops. The yellow LED4 lights.
- Within 10 seconds, move the drapery by hand or remote to where it should stack when open.
- Leave it for 10 seconds. LED4 goes off: the open position is stored.
Forest gives no separate direction setting: the motor learns it from that first pull toward CLOSE.
Pair a remote or wall switch
- Select the channel you want on the remote or wall switch.
- With a pen, press the button under the motor 3 times. The lights step from LED1 to LED3.
- Press and hold the button once more until the green light starts blinking.
- Within 10 seconds, press OPEN on the remote or switch. The blinking stops: paired.
- Press CLOSE to test. If the drapery does not move, start again.
Add or remove a remote
- On a remote that already controls the motor, press the P button on its back twice, about one second apart.
- Switch to the new channel, or pick up the new remote set to its channel.
- Press OPEN once. The new channel or remote now controls the motor too.
To remove a channel, follow the pairing steps but press CLOSE instead of OPEN.
Change the end positions
- Open the drapery.
- With a pen, press the button 4 times. The lights step from LED1 to LED4.
- Press and hold once more until the yellow light blinks and goes off. The old end positions are cleared.
- Push the drapery toward CLOSE until the motor takes over. It closes, then opens by itself, and the yellow light flashes.
- While it flashes, pull the drapery to the open position you want and leave it until the light goes off.
A paired Forest remote can also clear the end positions: press P 5 times and STOP 5 times. This clears every Shuttle in range on that channel.
Touch Impulse (pull to start), speed and closed position
Touch Impulse is Forest's pull-to-start feature: tug the drapery by hand and the motor opens or closes it all the way. To change a setting, press the button the number of times shown, then press and hold once more until the light blinks 3 times and goes off.
- Touch Impulse: 8 presses for high sensitivity (factory setting), 9 for low, 10 for off.
- Speed: 1 press for 14 cm/s (factory setting), 2 for 17 cm/s.
- Closed position: 31 or 32 presses take it 1 or 2 cm further, for drapery that does not close completely; 30 presses go back to the factory setting.
Reset to factory settings
This erases the end positions and programmed settings.
- With a pen, press the button 16 times.
- Press and hold once more until the light blinks 3 times and goes off.
- Set the end positions again and re-pair your remotes.
Keep the track running smoothly
On an FMS track, run a full open, close and open cycle at least every 3 months. Once a year, with the drapery fully open, spray the inside of the track with Forest dry lubricant 1502-00 (or WD-40 Specialist Dry Lube, UPC 0 79567 30005 2), wait a few minutes, then close and open the drapery fully.
Careful: use only Forest dry lubricant 1502-00 or WD-40 Specialist Dry Lube (the Dry Lube variant only); regular WD-40 or grease reacts with the factory lubricant.
Troubleshooting: Forest Shuttle
| What you see | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| No response to the remote | Pairing did not take, or end positions not set | Pair again; if that fails, set the end positions again. |
| Motor stopped after someone touched it | Static discharge | Unplug the power plug and plug it back in. |
| Motor strains or the drapery drags | Heading rubbing the track, or the track needs lubricating | The heading must not slide against the track; lubricate yearly (steps). |

Forest Shuttle iOn battery drapery motor
Models: Forest Shuttle iOn (rechargeable battery, up to 55 lb) on the same tracks and rods.
The iOn is the Shuttle with a removable lithium battery pack that you charge off the motor. Pairing, end positions, Touch Impulse, settings and reset use the same button presses as the Shuttle HD and Eco.
How to tell you have one: a battery pack that clicks into the motor and releases when you squeeze it, with the same button and four lights underneath.
Fit the battery and set up
- On a new install, with the battery out, twist and click the motor onto the track and lock it with the locking pin.
- Remove the security cap from the battery, insert it into the motor and push until it clicks.
- Hang the drapery and slide it open.
- Set the end positions and pair your remote with the Shuttle steps (end positions, pairing).
Charge the battery
When the battery gets low, the motor runs noticeably slower (6 cm/s instead of 14 or 17). Forest estimates 3 to 4 months between charges.
- Squeeze the battery pack to release it, and take it out of the motor.
- Connect the Forest charger to the battery. The charger light is orange while it charges.
- Wait until the light turns green, about 5 hours.
- Push the battery back into the motor until it clicks.
Careful: use only the Forest charger. Do not charge below 50°F (10°C), in humid conditions or in direct sunlight, and replace a damaged charger or battery pack rather than repairing it.

Forest remotes and wall switches
Models: EasyTouch remote (6 channel), EasyTouch wall switch (2 channel), Diamond Sense remote (52931-25D) and the older Forest Wall Switch (52933-25/-59).
Forest remotes and switches are paired from the motor. The EasyTouch remote and wall switch use Forest's original radio protocol and the newer Forest Link; their Favorite button works only with Forest Link motors. The Diamond Sense adds timers.
EasyTouch remote
- Pick a channel with Channel - and Channel +; the light bar shows which. With all lights lit, every channel moves together.
- Batteries (2 AAA): slide the back cover up, fit them matching + and -, and slide it back. An orange flash at each press means they are low.
- Child lock (blocks programming): hold P 10 seconds until the light flickers once. Repeat to unlock.
- Favorite (Forest Link motors with end positions set): at the spot you want, hold Favorite and Stop 2 seconds; press Favorite to go there. At the favorite, the same hold clears it. One favorite per motor.
EasyTouch wall switch
Channels 1 and 2 each have Open, Stop, Close and Favorite; the 2 AAA batteries and P1 and P2 sit under the front cover (pry it off with a flathead screwdriver). Pair it with the Shuttle steps, pressing Open for channel 1 or 2; it cannot pair on its group or 0 channel. Child lock: hold P1 or P2 10 seconds, then wait 30 seconds; repeat to unlock.
Diamond Sense remote: set a timer
Up to 9 open and 9 close times. First unlock MODE and TIME: hold both about 4 seconds until LOC shows.
Then set the clock and day, in MAN mode (hold MODE until MAN shows): press TIME and set the blinking hours with OPEN or CLOSE, press TIME again for the minutes and again for the day, setting each the same way, then press STOP.
- Hold MODE until AUTO shows, then press it once for an open time (twice for a close time).
- Select the channel.
- Press TIME and set the blinking hours with OPEN or CLOSE.
- Press TIME and set the minutes the same way.
- Press TIME, set the day or days, then press STOP.
To delete a time, press MODE once, then CH- until --:-- shows, then STOP. MAN mode pauses all timers.
Older Forest wall switch (52933)
It has channels A and B, with P buttons behind the cover. Pair it with the Shuttle steps, pressing OPEN on channel A or B. Pairings survive a change of its 12 V 27A battery.
Troubleshooting: Forest remotes and switches
| What you see | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Orange flash at each press, or shorter range | Batteries almost empty | Replace the batteries. |
| Nothing happens | Not paired, or batteries in wrong or empty | Check the batteries and pair again; these controls work only with Forest motors. |
| A motor without Forest Link responds very slowly | The control needs the original protocol | Remove the batteries, hold Stop while refitting them (the light flashes once), then pair again. |
| Unreliable response with equipment near the motor | Interference with the motor's receiver | Keep the motor at least 3 feet from other equipment and receivers. |

Forest app control: Wi-Fi dongle and Bond Bridge Pro
Models: Forest Wi-Fi dongle (Forest Connect app) and Bond Bridge Pro (Bond Home app).
The Wi-Fi dongle plugs into PORT 1 of a Shuttle HD or Eco and connects it to the Forest Connect app over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. The Bond Bridge Pro is a hub that sends Forest radio commands from the Bond Home app.
Set up the Forest Wi-Fi dongle
- Install the Forest Connect app and connect your phone to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi; 5 GHz is not supported.
- Make sure the end positions are set: tug the master carrier toward closed, let it close and reopen, and wait for the light under the motor to time out.
- Plug the dongle into PORT 1 on the motor.
- Open the app and follow its instructions.
Dongle light: blue flashing, Easy Connect mode; yellow flashing, Access Point mode (hold Connect 5 seconds, until purple, to switch); green, all well; red flash every 5 seconds, Wi-Fi lost. Hold Connect 10 seconds, until orange, for a factory reset.
Add a Shuttle to the Bond Bridge Pro
Set up the bridge first: plug it in, sign in to the Bond Home app, tap +, choose Bond Bridge Pro and Wi-Fi, continue when its light flashes green, and follow the app.
- Make sure the motor's end positions are set.
- In the app, tap +, then Shades, Roofs, Screens, & Awnings, your bridge, and Forest Shuttle Drapery Motors.
- Name the motor and location, choose Drape as the subtype, and tap Continue.
- Tap Continue past the first instruction, then tap Pair and Continue.
- While the app shows Test the remote, press the motor button 3 times, then press and hold it once more until LED 3 flashes.
- Press open in the app. The motor is paired; test open, close and stop.
Troubleshooting: Forest app control
| What you see | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Dongle set up, but the drapery does not move | Dongle not on PORT 1, or end positions not set | Use PORT 1 and set the end positions. |
| No lights on the dongle | The motor is not powering it | Check motor power and PORT 1; hold Connect 6 seconds; if still dark, use a 5 V USB adapter on its Micro-USB port. |
| Dongle will not join the Wi-Fi | Wrong network or password, out of range, or 5 GHz | Repeat the in-app setup on 2.4 GHz near the router, or try Access Point mode. |

Forest Roman and roller shade motors
Models: RBS with AC motor 62903-25, RBS iOn (battery), tubular motor 62901-25 with the Forest wall switch, tubular motor 68002-25, BCS, the Endeavor cassette Roman kit and Motor Technology 2.0 rods.
These motors pair directly with a Forest remote or wall switch. The motor jogs (a short back-and-forth move) or turns briefly to confirm each step, and each motor has its own sequence.
RBS with AC motor 62903-25
Forest's sheet shows these steps on a Forest remote with a display, with the button on its back drawn as P on the pairing page and P2 on the limits page. Of Forest's remotes, the Diamond Sense has a P2 button on its back for programming tubular motors.
- Select the channel on the remote.
- Switch on power to the motor. It jogs.
- Within 10 seconds, press P, then OPEN. The motor jogs: paired.
- For the top limit, press P2 once. The motor jogs.
- Press OPEN. The motor jogs.
- Press P2 once. The motor jogs.
- Adjust the shade to the top position, then press P2. The motor jogs: saved.
- For the bottom limit, repeat steps 4 to 7 with CLOSE in place of OPEN.
Wrong direction: repeat steps 1 to 3 (power off for at least 20 seconds, then on) pressing CLOSE instead of OPEN; STOP instead removes the channel. Delete the limits: P2 twice, then OPEN. To start over, switch the power off for at least 20 seconds.
On an EasyTouch remote or a wall switch, the sheet does not say which button is P or P2, so with those, do not guess.
Installer workWe do this at installation and on service calls.
RBS iOn battery Roman motor
It needs an EasyTouch remote (Forest Link); the programming button, Prg, is inside the back of the remote.
- Select a channel on the remote (not the group or 0 channel).
- Disconnect the battery pack and connect it again (power on); before the motor is fitted in the shade, hold its Pairing Button 2 seconds instead. The motor jogs once.
- Within 10 seconds, press Prg. The motor jogs twice: paired.
- Move the shade to the top and hold Open and Fav 2 seconds. Two jogs: top limit set.
- Move it to the bottom and hold Close and Fav 2 seconds. Two jogs: bottom limit set.
- Until both limits are set, the motor runs in step-by-step mode: the shade moves while you hold Open or Close and stops when you let go. Hold either button for 2 seconds or more and it keeps moving after you let go, until you press Stop, so use short presses near the top and bottom and be ready to press Stop.
- Once both limits are set, one press runs the shade all the way (one-touch mode); Prg, Stop, Stop (one jog after each) switches between one-touch and step-by-step mode.
- Wrong direction: before limits are set, hold Fav and Stop 2 seconds (one jog); after, press Prg, Open, Close, one jog after each.
- Favorite, only after both limits are set (before that, the same hold reverses the direction): hold Fav and Stop 2 seconds at the spot (two jogs); the same hold at the favorite clears it (one jog).
- Reset: hold the Pairing Button 16 seconds, until it jogs 4 times. All settings are deleted; set the limits again before use.
- Charging: plug a 5V/2A USB-C charger into the battery pack; its light turns from orange to blue when full, after 6 to 8 hours. Forest estimates 6 months per charge at one up and one down a day.
Careful: on the RBS iOn, the hold time on the Pairing Button decides what happens: 6 seconds (two jogs) switches off radio control (to switch it back on, Forest's manual says to hold the button 2 seconds in one place and to press it twice in another); 10 seconds (three jogs) reverses the direction; 16 seconds (four jogs) erases every setting. Release at the jog count you need.
Tubular motor 62901-25 with the Forest wall switch
Keep the switch within 2 m of the motor while programming.
- Briefly press the green button on the motor. It turns briefly.
- Within 6 seconds, press P twice on the channel you want.
- Press OPEN. The motor turns: paired.
- For the limits, press P, OPEN, P. The motor turns.
- Run the shade to the top, press STOP, then press STOP 5 times slowly until the motor turns.
- Do the same at the bottom. The motor turns: limits set.
Reverse: hold the green button on the motor about 7 seconds, until it turns. Cancel the limits: P, CLOSE, P. Setting or cancelling limits on a channel changes every motor paired to that channel; cancelling clears the limits of all of them. Set limits on a channel that runs only this shade.
Tubular motor 68002-25
Forest's sheet shows these steps on a Forest remote with a display, with the button on its back drawn as P2. Of Forest's remotes, the Diamond Sense has a P2 button on its back for programming tubular motors.
- Turn the SWITCH on the motor head to 1 (power on).
- Press the PROGRAM button on the motor head. The motor jogs.
- Press P2 on the back of the remote. The motor jogs.
- Press OPEN. The motor jogs: paired.
- Reverse: PROGRAM, P2, CLOSE, one jog after each.
- Speed: hold PROGRAM 5 seconds until it jogs twice, then press OPEN (high), STOP (regular) or CLOSE (quiet).
- Unpair the remote: PROGRAM, P2, STOP. Delete all settings: P2, P2, CLOSE (two jogs). This also erases the limits, which this page does not cover, so do not run the shade until they are set again.
- Limits: Forest's sheet prints a step whose text and drawing disagree, so this page does not cover them.
On an EasyTouch remote or a wall switch, the sheet does not say which button is P2, so with those, do not guess.
Installer workWe do this at installation and on service calls.
BCS, Endeavor and Motor Technology 2.0
- BCS: Forest's BCS sheets date from 2011 and 2013, list mostly 230 V models and call for a Forest Multi remote or Multi wall switch, so this page does not cover BCS.
- Endeavor: the cassette Roman kit ships with its motor and a remote, programmed from the remote's own instructions, which this page does not cover.
- Motor Technology 2.0: Dresden, Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Hanover rods with the motor pulley built in, for a Forest Shuttle or a Somfy, Lutron or Rollease motor. Forest's flyer gives no setup steps, so this page has none.
Installer workWe do this at installation and on service calls.
Careful: on an RBS with the Quick Lock cord roll, lock the cord before using the motor.

| RBS iOn does nothing | No remote paired | Pair the remote. |
| RBS iOn ignores every remote | Radio control switched off (Pairing Button held 6 seconds) | Hold the Pairing Button 2 seconds; if that does not wake it, press it twice, as Forest's FAQ says. |
| RBS iOn stops suddenly | Limits set wrong, or too much weight | Set the limits again and check the fabric weight. |
| RBS iOn moves one way only | Limits incorrect | Cancel them (Prg, Stop, Prg) and set new ones. |

Frequently asked
Can I set a favorite position on my Forest Shuttle?
Forest's Shuttle manuals do not describe a favorite position. The EasyTouch remote and wall switch have a Favorite button, but Forest says it works only with motors that have the Forest Link protocol and set end positions. The RBS iOn Roman motor has Forest Link and stores one favorite once both limits are set: hold Fav and Stop for 2 seconds at the position you want. Before the limits are set, the same hold reverses the motor instead.
Why is my Forest Shuttle moving slowly?
On a Shuttle iOn, running noticeably slower means the battery is getting low: take it out and charge it until the charger light turns green. On a plug-in Shuttle HD or Eco, check the speed setting: 1 press of the motor button is the factory speed and 2 presses the faster one, each confirmed by pressing and holding once more until the light blinks 3 times.
My Forest Shuttle stopped working after I touched it. What do I do?
Forest says a static discharge, when someone touches the Shuttle, can stop the motor. Unplug the power plug and plug it back in, and the motor works as normal again.
Does the Forest Wi-Fi dongle work with 5 GHz Wi-Fi?
No. The dongle supports only 2.4 GHz networks. If it will not connect, repeat the in-app setup, check the network and password, stay within reach of the router, or switch the dongle to Access Point mode by holding its Connect button for 5 seconds until the light turns purple.
How do I add a second remote to my Forest Shuttle?
Set the new remote to the channel you want. On a remote that already controls the motor, press the P button on its back twice, about one second apart, then press OPEN on the new remote. It now controls the motor too.
How do I lubricate a Forest motorized track?
For the FMS track, Forest calls for a yearly re-lubrication with Forest dry lubricant spray 1502-00, or WD-40 Specialist Dry Lube if that is not available. With the drapery fully open, spray the inside of the track, wait a few minutes, then close and open the drapery fully. Never use regular WD-40 or grease: Forest says other lubricants react with the factory lubricant.
