Find your motor, then follow its steps

VTi is the motorization of the Vertilux system we build our dual shades on. Almost every setting is made from the VTi remote: the limits with UP or DOWN and FAV, the favorite with FAV and STOP, the speed through P and STOP. The H button on the motor head pairs the first remote, puts a motor to sleep and resets it. Find your motor in the table, then follow its steps.

How we wrote this page. Every step comes from Vertilux's VTi programming manuals and technical sheets, linked at the end of each section. A few steps appear only in the Spanish section of Vertilux's manual; we translated those faithfully. Steps Vertilux shows only as pictures are left out. Updated October 2026.

Wire-free battery motors

Vertilux VTi RE-LION Celtic battery motors

Models: VTi RE-LION Celtic battery motors, 1 to 6 Nm, 25 and 35 mm: the 2 Nm bidirectional RE-LION motor in our dual shades, plus 6-800-MB-25B01, 25U01, 25UZ1, 25U02, 35B03, 35U03, 35B06 and 35U06.

These wire-free motors run on a built-in rechargeable lithium battery. Bidirectional (two-way) motors also report the shade position and battery level; unidirectional (one-way) motors only receive commands. Vertilux describes every setting below with a VTi remote and the H button on the motor head.

How to tell you have one: the motor head has an H button, a light, a USB-C charging port and an antenna wire. In the item code, B means bidirectional and U unidirectional.

You need: a charged motor, access to the motor head, and a VTi remote set for the same motor type; a remote works with bidirectional or unidirectional motors, not both.

Pair the first remote

  1. Select a channel that is not a group channel (all lights on or a 0 on light models; the group icon on screen models).
  2. Press H on the motor head until the motor jogs (a brief up-and-down move).
  3. Press P on the back of the remote, under the battery cover. The motor jogs twice: paired.

If this remote or channel is already paired, the same steps unpair it. The remotes leave the factory set for bidirectional motors. To have one switched for a unidirectional motor, contact us.

Reverse the direction

Vertilux sets these motors for right-side installation. To reverse one:

  1. Select the motor's channel.
  2. Press and hold UP and DOWN together, about 6 seconds, until the motor jogs once.

At the motor instead, hold H for 10 seconds: it jogs 3 times and reverses.

Set the top and bottom stop points (limits)

  1. Run the shade with UP or DOWN and stop it where the top should be.
  2. Press UP and FAV together for 2 seconds. The motor jogs twice.
  3. Run the shade down and stop it where the bottom should be.
  4. Press DOWN and FAV together for 2 seconds. The motor jogs twice.

Add or remove a remote

Use a remote that already runs the motor (A) to add a new one (B).

  1. On A, press P until the motor jogs.
  2. Press P on A again until it jogs again.
  3. On B, press STOP until the motor jogs. B is paired.

The same steps delete B if it was already paired. To clear every remote at once, select the motor's channel on a paired remote and press P until the motor jogs, P again until it jogs, then DOWN until it jogs.

Program one motor when several share a channel

A sleeping motor ignores radio commands.

  1. On each other motor, hold H for 3 seconds until it jogs, then release.
  2. Hold H for 3 seconds again until it jogs again. That motor is asleep.
  3. Program the motor that is still awake.
  4. Wake each sleeping motor: hold H for 3 seconds until it jogs once.

Set, use or delete the favorite position

The favorite is one stored position between the limits; set the limits first.

  1. Move the shade to the position you want.
  2. Press FAV and STOP together for 2 seconds. The motor jogs twice.

Press FAV to go there. To delete it, with the shade at the favorite, press FAV and STOP together for 2 seconds; the motor jogs once.

Change a limit

  1. Run the shade to the limit you want to change.
  2. Press UP and FAV (top) or DOWN and FAV (bottom) together until the shade jogs once.
  3. Move the shade to the new position.
  4. Press the same two buttons for about 2 seconds, until it jogs twice.

To delete both limits, press P until the shade jogs, STOP until it jogs, then P until it jogs.

Change the speed

There are three speeds; medium is the factory setting, and slower is quieter.

  1. Press P until the shade jogs.
  2. Press STOP until it jogs.
  3. Within 3 seconds, press UP for faster or DOWN for slower. A jog confirms; no jog means it is already at the fastest or slowest.

Reset the motor

  1. Hold H for 16 seconds, until the motor jogs four times, then release. All its settings are deleted.
  2. Pair a remote and set the limits again.

Charge the battery and read the light

  • Charge fully before first use, through the USB-C port, at up to 5 V, 2 A. Do not run the motor while it charges.
  • Once the charger is connected, the light blinks (Vertilux: 6 times); it turns solid blue when the battery is full. The same light warns of a low battery.
  • Vertilux rates a charge at more than half a year under normal operation.
  • On an ESCALATE screen remote with a bidirectional motor, press STOP for 6 seconds to see the battery level in 10% steps.
  • The VTi solar panel (6-800-MA-MBSOL) charges through a USB-C lead and needs direct sunlight.

On solar, Vertilux recommends turning the charging light off: press P until the motor jogs, DOWN until it jogs, then STOP until it jogs. Repeat to turn it back on.

Careful: do not lift the motor by its wire or antenna, do not cut the antenna, and keep it away from water, humidity and extreme temperatures. Holding H for 10 seconds reverses the motor and 16 seconds erases every setting, so release at the jog count the step calls for.

12 V and 110 V motors

Vertilux VTi 12 V and 110 V wired motors

Models: VTi 12 V motors, 2 Nm (6-800-ML-25B12) and 6 Nm (6-800-ML-35B16); VTi 110 V motors to 20 Nm with electronic limits (6-800-ME series) or mechanical limits (6-800-MM series).

The 2 Nm 12 V motor (6-800-ML-25B12) runs from a plug-in transformer, a power panel or Vertilux's external rechargeable pack (6-800-MA-MLBP5), which charges over USB-C in about 8 hours: orange light while charging, blue when full. The 6 Nm 12 V motor (6-800-ML-35B16) runs from the power panel, on three of its outputs, and a 110 V motor from 110 V AC. The electronic-limit models in Vertilux's 2026 manual (6-800-ML-25B12 and the 6-800-ME series) set limits, direction and the favorite, and on the 12 V motor also the speed, with the same remote sequences as the battery motors. Wiring, and the limits on mechanical-limit models, are installer work.

How to tell you have one: a 12 V motor has a short lead with a 2-pin JST connector; a 110 V motor has a 3-wire cord.

You need: the motor powered, and a VTi remote set for the motor type.

Limits, direction, favorite and speed (electronic limits: 6-800-ML-25B12 and 6-800-ME)

  • Limits: stop the shade at the top or bottom point, then press UP and FAV (top) or DOWN and FAV (bottom) together for 2 seconds; it jogs twice.
  • Direction: on the motor's channel, press UP and DOWN together for about 6 seconds, until it jogs once.
  • Change a limit or the favorite: as for the battery motors (limits, favorite).
  • Speed, 12 V motors only: as for the battery motors; the higher the speed, the louder the motor.
  • Reset: hold H for 16 seconds until it jogs four times; all settings are deleted.

Vertilux's 2026 manual shows pairing and adding a remote for these motors as diagrams only. We program every motor we install and document the setup.

Mechanical-limit motors: what it takes

The limits are set with a hex driver on two screws on the motor head, and the motor pairs by switching it on, then pressing P on the remote.

Installer workWe do this at installation and on service calls.

Careful: switch off the main power before connecting a motor, keep the antenna straight and clear of metal, and put no more than 5 mechanical-limit motors on a 15 A breaker.

Remotes and wall switch

VTi remotes, timer remote and DECO ONE wall switch

Models: ESCALATE 6-channel timer remote (6-800-AT-ESBT6) and 16-channel remote (6-800-AT-ESB16), both with a screen; CHIC and POINT, 2 or 6 channel (6-800-AT-CHB02/06, POB02/06); DECO ONE wall switch, 2 or 6 channel (6-800-AT-DEB02/06).

Each channel runs one shade or a group of shades, and an extra channel runs every motor paired to the remote. The first remote pairs at the motor; more remotes pair from a remote that already works: see Pair the first remote and Add or remove a remote.

How to tell which you have: CHIC, POINT and DECO ONE show the channel with lights; ESCALATE models have a screen. The DECO ONE sits on a magnetic base, handheld or on a wall box under a decorator plate.

You need: the right battery: CR2450 for ESCALATE and CHIC, two AAA for POINT, CR2032 for DECO ONE. The remote shows a notification when its battery drops below 2.7 V.

Choose a channel

  1. Press the channel buttons, Ch- and Ch+ (the manual also shows them as < and >), to select the channel.
  2. For a single shade, avoid the group channel: all lights on or a 0, or the group icon on screen models.

Send a shade to a percentage (screen remotes)

  1. Select the channel and press FAV for 3 seconds. The screen shows 50%.
  2. Press < or > to change it in 10% steps; 0% is fully open, 100% fully closed.
  3. Wait 3 seconds. The shade moves there.

This needs a bidirectional motor and the ESB16 or ESBT6.

Lock the settings, or reset a remote

  1. To lock, press T for 10 seconds; two-button commands stop working and screen models show a lock icon. Repeat to unlock.

To reset a remote, hold T and FAV together for about 10 seconds. On the ESBT6 this keeps the local time but erases its timer programs and paired shades, so expect to pair it again afterwards.

The ESBT6 timer remote

It stores up to 20 timer programs; a press on T turns the timer on or off, and the timer icon shows when it is on. Clock and program steps are in Vertilux's timer manual below.

  1. Install the VTi HomeMate+ app and create your account, home and rooms.
  2. Tap Me, then Add Device, and choose the SmartHub PLUS.
  3. Pick your 2.4 GHz network and enter its password, with your phone on the same network.
  4. Follow the prompts, which include pressing P1 on the hub until its light blinks and joining the SL-VTiHomeMate+ network. Pairing takes about 40 seconds.
  5. Name the hub and its room, then tap Finish and Done.

Add a motor to the app

  1. Choose Unidirectional or Bidirectional to match the motor, then tap + Add Subdevice.
  2. When the app asks for pairing mode, press P on the back of the remote until the motor jogs.
  3. Quickly press and release DOWN. The motor jogs.
  4. Quickly press and release UP. The motor jogs and its light blinks blue, ready to be found.
  5. Tap Finish, name the shade and its room, then tap Done.

Without the remote, hold H for about 6 seconds until the motor jogs twice, and release right after the second jog. Both methods also work on the electronic-limit wired motors.

Nexus Bridge and home automation: what it takes

The Nexus Bridge is set up in the Bond Home app with the QR code on each unit. It runs up to 50 devices over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi or Ethernet, and Vertilux lists it as compatible with Control4, Crestron, Savant, HomeKit, Alexa and Google Assistant, among others.

Good to Know

Frequently asked

How long does a VTi RE-LION battery last between charges?

Vertilux rates the built-in lithium battery at more than half a year under normal operation. The light on the motor head warns you when the battery is low. Charge through the USB-C port at up to 5 V, 2 A; the light turns solid blue when the battery is full. Vertilux's RE-LION solar panel can also charge the motor in direct sunlight.

Can one VTi remote control both one-way and two-way motors?

No. A VTi remote works with bidirectional (two-way) or unidirectional (one-way) motors, not both, and the remotes leave the factory set for bidirectional motors.

How do I program one VTi motor when several share a channel?

Put the other motors to sleep so they ignore radio commands: on each, hold the H button for 3 seconds until it jogs, release, then hold it 3 seconds again until it jogs again. Program the motor that is still awake, then wake each sleeping motor by holding H for 3 seconds until it jogs once.

Why won't my VTi remote let me change any settings?

The remote is probably in lock mode, which blocks two-button commands; screen remotes show a lock icon. Press T for 10 seconds to unlock it, and press it again for 10 seconds to lock it once programming is finished.

How do I change the speed of a VTi motor?

Press P on the back of the remote until the shade jogs, then STOP until it jogs. Within 3 seconds, press UP for faster or DOWN for slower; a jog confirms, and no jog means it is already at the fastest or slowest of the three speeds. Medium is the factory setting, and slower is quieter.

Does the VTi SmartHub PLUS work with 5 GHz Wi-Fi?

No. Vertilux says to pair the hub on a 2.4 GHz network only, and to keep it out of metal enclosures. In the HomeMate+ app, pairing the hub takes about 40 seconds.
