The 126-inch blackout that keeps the NFPA 701 listing
Sparta Twilight is the blackout we specify most from the Mermet range. It is 33% polyester and 67% acrylic, 126 inches wide, 9.9 oz per square yard and 0.014 inches thick, which is thin enough to roll small in a shallow pocket and wide enough to cover most sliders in one piece. Tv is 0 and UV blockage about 100%, and it is the only Twilight fabric here that carries NFPA 701 TM#1, California Title 19 and CAN/ULC-S109 rather than the ASTM E84 and California Technical Bulletin 117 listings of the polyester blackouts.
The card is nine colourways. Six pair a face colour with a white back, White, Chalk, Gypsum, Pewter, Emery and Black, and reflect 71% to 73% of the solar energy that reaches them; three are colour-matched, Pewter, Emery and Black, and reflect 5% to 18%. Every colourway has a photograph of its reverse face on this page. GREENGUARD Gold, RoHS lead free and antimicrobial testing to ASTM E2180 come with it, and the fabric publishes NRC 0.00, which is what a blackout coating does to sound.

Tv = visible light transmitted, Ts = solar energy transmitted, Rs = solar energy reflected, As = solar energy absorbed, Rv = visible light reflected, in percent, as published by Mermet USA for the fabric on its own. SHGC int. and SHGC ext. = solar heat gain coefficient of the fabric mounted inside or outside residential double glazing, from the same spec sheets; UPF = Mermet's ultraviolet protection rating where it publishes one. Where Sparta Twilight works here
Sparta Twilight is in the bedrooms at Turnberry Ocean Club in Sunny Isles Beach, running in side channels so the room goes properly dark, and at Salato in Pompano Beach in White/White, where one master shade measures 144 by 120 inches and carries a single deliberate seam. Both sit behind or beside an E Screen daytime layer. It is our default for a wide oceanfront bedroom: 126 inches of width, a white back for the building, and the fire listing an association may ask for.
Sparta Twilight is the 126-inch blackout with fiberglass-grade fire listings; Zora Twilight matches the width with a wider colour card, and Elba and Sofia Twilight are the 118-inch halves of matched Daylight pairs.

Why Sparta rather than Zora?
The fire listing, mostly. Both are 126 inches wide with a white-backed and a colour-matched card. Sparta carries NFPA 701 TM#1, California Title 19 and CAN/ULC-S109, which a condo association, a hotel or a commercial job may require; Zora Twilight lists ASTM E84 (Class B) and California Technical Bulletin 117 and offers a wider neutral card.
How do you make a bedroom truly dark with it?
Side channels where the depth allows, as at Turnberry, or an outside mount that overlaps the opening generously. The fabric passes no light at all; the light a client notices comes from the half inch at each side of a standard inside mount. We show both details at measurement. More on blackout shades.
Can it be made wider than 126 inches?
Only with a seam. The master shade at Salato is 144 by 120 inches with one seam, placed where it reads least; the alternative is two shades on one headrail, which we align at a mullion. On a blackout a seam is visible in daylight, so we always show the two options before deciding.
How wide can a Mermet Sparta Twilight shade be?
Mermet publishes standard roll widths of 126" (320 cm) for Sparta Twilight, so a single shade can run to about 126 inches wide before a seam or a second shade is needed. A seam in a blackout shows as a line of light, so wider openings get two shades on one headrail programmed to move together. We confirm the exact limit for the chosen system when we measure.

Sparta Twilight is a roller shade fabric. We source it directly from Mermet, so the same weave goes on Lutron, Somfy, Crestron or Vertilux motors or a manual chain, cut and finished in our Fort Lauderdale workroom and installed by our own team from Miami to Palm Beach.
