The E Screen basketweave, woven in bicolour yarn

E Screen Deco takes the construction that makes E Screen work, the 2x2 basketweave in 36% fiberglass and 64% vinyl, and weaves it with dual-colour yarn so the cloth reads as a woven textile from a few feet away and as a solar screen at the glass. It comes in 1% and 3%, 122 inches wide, in ten colours named for timber: Balsa, Birch, Poplar, Cedar, Willow, Magnolia, Aspen, Elm, Mahogany and Ebony. UV blockage is about 99% at 1% and 97% at 3%, and the 1% weave reaches NRC 0.35, one of the higher acoustic values Mermet publishes.

The card is wide in performance as well as in colour. Balsa reflects 73% of the solar energy that reaches it and passes 13% of the visible light; Ebony reflects 5% and absorbs 93%, with 2% visible transmission, which makes it one of the clearest view fabrics on the page. Between them Poplar, Willow and Elm give mid-tone options that most technical cards do not have. Fire listings are NFPA 701 TM#1, California Title 19 and CAN/ULC-S109, with GREENGUARD Gold and RoHS lead free, so it goes into commercial work on the same paperwork as plain E Screen.

Tv = visible light transmitted, Ts = solar energy transmitted, Rs = solar energy reflected, As = solar energy absorbed, Rv = visible light reflected, in percent, as published by Mermet USA for the fabric on its own. SHGC int. and SHGC ext. = solar heat gain coefficient of the fabric mounted inside or outside residential double glazing, from the same spec sheets; UPF = Mermet's ultraviolet protection rating where it publishes one. We bring the sample books to the consultation.

Where E Screen Deco works here

This is the card we bring when a client likes the performance of E Screen and finds the plain whites and charcoals too flat. In a Fort Lauderdale or Boca Raton living room with wood and stone, Poplar or Elm at 3% gives the room a woven surface without changing anything about how the shade behaves on the glass. Ebony at 1% is the choice for a study or a media room where the view should stay sharp and the glare should disappear.

E Screen Deco is the timber-toned bicolour version of E Screen at 1% and 3%; standard E Screen gives five openness factors in plainer two-tone colours, and T Screen Deco offers the same idea in a satin weave with a white street side.

Good to Know

E Screen Deco: frequently asked

Does E Screen Deco perform like standard E Screen?

Within its two openness factors, yes: the same basketweave, the same 36% fiberglass and 64% vinyl, the same fire listings and certifications. What changes is the yarn, and with it the colour, the texture and the published figures per colourway, which the table on this page shows one by one.

Which Deco colour for a bright room?

Balsa or Birch, which reflect 73% and 69% of the solar energy that reaches them and keep the room light. For the clearest view through the weave, Mahogany or Ebony, which pass 2% of the visible light and absorb the heat instead. Cedar and Willow sit in the middle.

How wide can a Mermet E Screen Deco shade be?

Mermet publishes standard roll widths of 122" (310 cm) for E Screen Deco, so a single shade can run to about 122 inches wide before a seam or a second shade is needed. Wider openings are covered with two shades on one headrail programmed to move together, or with a seam placed where the mullion hides it. We confirm the exact limit for the chosen system when we measure.

Which shades can be made in E Screen Deco?

E Screen Deco is a roller shade fabric. We source it directly from Mermet, so the same weave goes on Lutron, Somfy, Crestron or Vertilux motors or a manual chain, cut and finished in our Fort Lauderdale workroom and installed by our own team from Miami to Palm Beach.

Can I see E Screen Deco samples before ordering?

Yes. We keep the Mermet sample books in the Fort Lauderdale workroom (4539 Powerline Rd, by appointment) and the Miami Beach showroom (500 South Pointe Dr #150), and we bring the colours you shortlist to the in-home consultation so you can hold them against your glass in your own light.
