A reversible satin screen with a different colour on each face

T Screen is woven as a satin rather than a basketweave, which gives it a finer, more textile surface than E Screen at the same openness. It is the same 36% fiberglass and 64% vinyl construction, 78 and 122 inches wide, and comes in 1% and 3% only: this is a glare-control fabric first. The twelve colours are all two-tone and the card runs both ways, from White/White and White/Charcoal to Charcoal/White and Charcoal/Charcoal-Iron, so the face colour is chosen for the room and the reverse for how the building reads from the street. Every colour has a photograph of its back on this page.

T Screen with KOOLBLACK adds five charcoals at 1% and 3%, 98 and 122 inches wide, with a charcoal heat-reflective street side. Where a plain T Screen charcoal reflects 4% to 10% of the solar energy that hits it and absorbs the rest, the KOOLBLACK versions reflect 32% to 40% colour by colour, and Mermet publishes a figure of up to 69% for the line and a solar heat gain improvement of up to 55%. That is what lets a dark, clear-view fabric work on hot glass. Visible transmission stays at 2% to 6%, so nothing about the view changes.

Tv = visible light transmitted, Ts = solar energy transmitted, Rs = solar energy reflected, As = solar energy absorbed, Rv = visible light reflected, in percent, as published by Mermet USA for the fabric on its own. SHGC int. and SHGC ext. = solar heat gain coefficient of the fabric mounted inside or outside residential double glazing, from the same spec sheets; UPF = Mermet's ultraviolet protection rating where it publishes one. We bring the sample books to the consultation.

South Florida

Where T Screen works here

We used T Screen 3% in White on the Lutron solar shades at the Ritz-Carlton Residences in Sunny Isles, where the brief was glare control with the water view intact and a soft, non-technical look. That is T Screen's territory: high-end interiors where a fiberglass screen has to read as a fabric. The 1% weave is our answer for east and west glass on the Intracoastal, and the KOOLBLACK charcoals for a client who wants a dark shade on hard afternoon sun.

T Screen is the satin, two-sided member of the family: E Screen offers more openness factors and a wider width at 0.5%, T Screen Deco takes the same weave into five coffee tones with a white street side.

Good to Know

T Screen: frequently asked

Is T Screen more private than E Screen?

At the same openness, no. Privacy at night comes from the light balance, not the weave pattern, and neither fabric gives it. T Screen is chosen for its satin hand and for the choice of street-side colour. Where night privacy matters, pair it with a blackout on a dual roller.

What does a two-sided fabric actually give me?

Control of what the building sees. Charcoal/White reads as charcoal in the room and white from outside, which is what a condo association usually wants; White/Charcoal does the opposite and sharpens the view from inside. The reverse face of every colourway is photographed on this page, so the decision can be made on the two images side by side.

How wide can a Mermet T Screen shade be?

Mermet publishes standard roll widths of 78" (200cm), 122" (310 cm); 98" (250 cm), 122" (310 cm) for T Screen, so a single shade can run to about 122 inches wide before a seam or a second shade is needed. Wider openings are covered with two shades on one headrail programmed to move together, or with a seam placed where the mullion hides it. We confirm the exact limit for the chosen system when we measure.

Which shades can be made in T Screen?

T Screen is a roller shade fabric. We source it directly from Mermet, so the same weave goes on Lutron, Somfy, Crestron or Vertilux motors or a manual chain, cut and finished in our Fort Lauderdale workroom and installed by our own team from Miami to Palm Beach.

Can I see T Screen samples before ordering?

Yes. We keep the Mermet sample books in the Fort Lauderdale workroom (4539 Powerline Rd, by appointment) and the Miami Beach showroom (500 South Pointe Dr #150), and we bring the colours you shortlist to the in-home consultation so you can hold them against your glass in your own light.

Where We Install

Mermet T Screen shades in Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Boca Raton & Palm Beach

We source T Screen directly from Mermet for any project from Miami to Palm Beach, cut and finish the shades in our Fort Lauderdale workroom on the Lutron, Somfy, Crestron or manual system the window calls for, and install them with our own team. Both showrooms, 4539 Powerline Rd in Fort Lauderdale (by appointment) and 500 South Pointe Dr #150 in Miami Beach, have motorized shades running so you can see the fabric in motion.
