Phifer SheerWeave 1000 Fabric
2 colourways, openness 25%, solar screen, up to 96 inches wide. Every swatch and every published specification, from the workroom that cuts Phifer in Fort Lauderdale and installs it from Miami to Palm Beach.
A 25% open sheer in two whites, for view over control
SheerWeave 1000 is the most open fabric in the interior range: 25% openness, 35% fiberglass and 65% vinyl on fiberglass, at 8.8 oz per square yard and 0.020 inches thick, with UV blockage of about 75%. It is woven in five widths, 36, 48, 72, 84 and 96 inches, and comes in two colours only, White and Antique White. Phifer lists a Microban antimicrobial additive, GREENGUARD Gold, RoHS and REACH compliance and a full fire set including California Title 19, NFPA 701 TM#1 and TM#2, NFPA 101 Class A and IBC Section 803.1.1 Class A.
At a quarter of the weave open, the numbers behave accordingly: visible transmission of 31% and 32%, solar transmission of 36% and 37%, solar reflectance of 47% and 50% and absorptance of only 14% to 16%. That is a fabric that keeps almost all of the view and takes only some of the heat, which makes it a very specific tool rather than a general-purpose screen. It reads as a sheer at the window rather than as a shade, and it gives no meaningful glare control on direct sun.

Tv = visible light transmitted, Ts = solar energy transmitted, Rs = solar energy reflected, As = solar energy absorbed, in percent, as published by Phifer for the fabric on its own. SHGC single = solar heat gain coefficient of the fabric behind single 1/4 in clear glass (1/8 in where that is what Phifer publishes), SHGC insul. = behind 1 in insulating glass with a high-performance coating (1/2 in clear where published). Exterior SunTex and SunScreen figures are for the fabric installed outside the glass at a 30 degree profile angle. We bring the sample books to the consultation.
Where SheerWeave 1000 works here
North-facing windows, shaded courtyards and covered walkways, or a room where the client wants the softest possible veil over a view they refuse to lose. We would not specify it on any west or south-west glass in South Florida, where 25% openness simply hands the glare straight to the room. On a lanai it works as a light insect-season veil with the view intact.
SheerWeave 1000: frequently asked
Will it control glare?
Not on direct sun. At 25% openness and 31% visible transmission, SheerWeave 1000 keeps the view and lets most of the light through. For glare control on the same window, step to a 3% or 1% weave in the 2500 or 4800 cards.
What is it actually for?
Softening a shaded window without losing the view, and daytime distance from what is directly outside. It is also the most open fabric in the library, which makes it the reference point at the other end from SheerWeave Privacy at 0.1%.
How wide can a Phifer SheerWeave 1000 shade be?
Phifer publishes standard roll widths of 36", 48", 72", 84" and 96" (91.4 cm, 121.9 cm, 182.9 cm, 213.4 cm and 243.8 cm) for SheerWeave 1000, so a single shade can run to about 96 inches wide before a seam or a second shade is needed. Wider openings are covered with two shades on one headrail programmed to move together, or with a seam placed where the mullion hides it. We confirm the exact limit for the chosen system when we measure.
Which shades can be made in SheerWeave 1000?
SheerWeave 1000 is made up as roller shades, roman shades and panel tracks. We source it directly from Phifer, so the same weave goes on Lutron, Somfy, Crestron or Vertilux motors or a manual chain, cut and finished in our Fort Lauderdale workroom and installed by our own team from Miami to Palm Beach.
Can I see SheerWeave 1000 samples before ordering?
Yes. We keep the Phifer sample books in the Fort Lauderdale workroom (4539 Powerline Rd, by appointment) and the Miami Beach showroom (500 South Pointe Dr #150), and we bring the colours you shortlist to the in-home consultation so you can hold them against your glass in your own light.
