A jacquard card of thirty-seven patterns, each with its own numbers

SheerWeave 5000 is the decorative end of the Phifer range: thirty-seven jacquard patterns rather than a single weave with a colour card. Phifer does not publish one composition, weight, thickness or openness factor for the line, because they vary from pattern to pattern, and the design page below lists the figures per colourway rather than per style. Widths are 74 and 98 inches, the published acoustic value is NRC 0.15, and Phifer lists a Microban antimicrobial additive, GREENGUARD Gold, RoHS and REACH compliance and the ANSI/WCMA A100.1 lead-content standard.

The patterns run in named families: Bliss, Tweed, Bark, Bamboo, Chenille, Metro, Linen, Marble, Jute, Feather and Seaglass, each paired with a second colour, as in Linen/Pearl, Jute/Coffee, Bark/Tiger Oak or Seaglass/Crystal. The performance spread is enormous and it is the whole reason to read the table: visible transmission runs from 5% in Jute/Coffee to 45% in Seaglass/Crystal, solar reflectance from 15% to 71%, and absorptance from 7% to 80%. Two patterns from the same card can behave like completely different fabrics on the same window.

Tv = visible light transmitted, Ts = solar energy transmitted, Rs = solar energy reflected, As = solar energy absorbed, in percent, as published by Phifer for the fabric on its own. SHGC single = solar heat gain coefficient of the fabric behind single 1/4 in clear glass (1/8 in where that is what Phifer publishes), SHGC insul. = behind 1 in insulating glass with a high-performance coating (1/2 in clear where published). Exterior SunTex and SunScreen figures are for the fabric installed outside the glass at a 30 degree profile angle. We bring the sample books to the consultation.

Where SheerWeave 5000 works here

This is the card we bring when the shade is part of the decorating scheme rather than the mechanical specification: a dining room, a bedroom, a Palm Beach or Coconut Grove interior where a plain grey screen would look wrong. Because the numbers vary so widely we check the individual pattern against the exposure before we quote it, and on hard west glass we usually put a proper screen at the window and keep the jacquard for the softer elevations.

Why is there no single openness figure?

Because there is no single weave. Phifer publishes composition, weight, thickness and openness per pattern for this line, so the honest answer for any given colourway is the row in the table on this page. Visible transmission across the card runs from 5% to 45%, which is a wider spread than any other Phifer fabric.

Is SheerWeave 5000 fire rated?

Phifer publishes no fire listing for this line, which sets it apart from the rest of the SheerWeave range. For a hotel, an office, a condo common area or anything else that needs NFPA 701, we specify a different fabric and say so at the quote stage.

Which patterns keep the most view?

The Seaglass patterns: Seaglass/Crystal publishes 45% visible transmission, Seaglass/Chardonnay 41% and Seaglass/Silver 37%. At the other end, Jute/Coffee and Bliss/Shadow publish 5% and 6%, which is screen territory. Everything in between is on the page.

How wide can a Phifer SheerWeave 5000 shade be?

Phifer publishes standard roll widths of 74" and 98" (187.96 cm and 248.9 cm) for SheerWeave 5000, so a single shade can run to about 98 inches wide before a seam or a second shade is needed. Wider openings are covered with two shades on one headrail programmed to move together, or with a seam placed where the mullion hides it. We confirm the exact limit for the chosen system when we measure.

Which shades can be made in SheerWeave 5000?

SheerWeave 5000 is made up as roller shades, roman shades and panel tracks. We source it directly from Phifer, so the same weave goes on Lutron, Somfy, Crestron or Vertilux motors or a manual chain, cut and finished in our Fort Lauderdale workroom and installed by our own team from Miami to Palm Beach.

Can I see SheerWeave 5000 samples before ordering?

Yes. We keep the Phifer sample books in the Fort Lauderdale workroom (4539 Powerline Rd, by appointment) and the Miami Beach showroom (500 South Pointe Dr #150), and we bring the colours you shortlist to the in-home consultation so you can hold them against your glass in your own light.

We source SheerWeave 5000 directly from Phifer for any project from Miami to Palm Beach, cut and finish the shades in our Fort Lauderdale workroom on the Lutron, Somfy, Crestron or manual system the window calls for, and install them with our own team. Both showrooms, 4539 Powerline Rd in Fort Lauderdale (by appointment) and 500 South Pointe Dr #150 in Miami Beach, have motorized shades running so you can see the fabric in motion.
