Phifer SheerWeave Privacy Fabric
5 colourways, openness 0.1%, solar screen, up to 126 inches wide. Every swatch and every published specification, from the workroom that cuts Phifer in Fort Lauderdale and installs it from Miami to Palm Beach.
0.1% openness: daylight with no view, on the Eco colour card
SheerWeave Privacy is woven at 0.1% openness, which puts it between a solar screen and a light-filtering fabric: there is essentially no view through it, but it is still a daylight weave rather than a blackout. The composition is 17% polyester and 83% vinyl on polyester, made with DOW ECOLIBRIUM bio-based plasticizer, with over half the compound derived from crop-based feed stocks and minerals. It is 18.9 oz per square yard, 0.034 inches thick and woven 126 inches wide, with published UV blockage of about 99.9%.
The colours are the 4000 Eco card, with the same Phifer codes: Eco/Chalk, Eco/Alabaster, Eco/Granite, Eco/Ash and Eco/Ebony. That is the practical point of the fabric. A house can run 4000 Eco screens in the view rooms and Privacy in the bathrooms, the street-facing rooms and the guest suite, all in one colour. Visible transmission runs 0% in Eco/Ebony and Eco/Ash to 4% in Eco/Chalk, and solar reflectance from 4% to 83%. Microban, GREENGUARD Gold and a full fire set including NFPA 701 TM#1 and TM#2 are all listed.

Tv = visible light transmitted, Ts = solar energy transmitted, Rs = solar energy reflected, As = solar energy absorbed, in percent, as published by Phifer for the fabric on its own. SHGC single = solar heat gain coefficient of the fabric behind single 1/4 in clear glass (1/8 in where that is what Phifer publishes), SHGC insul. = behind 1 in insulating glass with a high-performance coating (1/2 in clear where published). Exterior SunTex and SunScreen figures are for the fabric installed outside the glass at a 30 degree profile angle. We bring the sample books to the consultation.
Where SheerWeave Privacy works here
Bathrooms, ground-floor bedrooms and street-facing rooms in Fort Lauderdale and Hollywood, and any condo window that looks straight into the next tower. It is also the fabric for a room that wants full daytime privacy without going dark, which a blackout cannot give. On the same floor as a 4000 Eco screen it disappears into the scheme, because the colour codes are identical.
The same Eco colour card and the same bio-based plasticizer as SheerWeave 4000 Eco, at 0.1% instead of 1% to 10%.
SheerWeave Privacy: frequently asked
Is SheerWeave Privacy a blackout?
No. At 0.1% openness it blocks the view but still passes daylight, and Phifer publishes visible transmission of up to 4% in the palest colour. For a dark room use one of the 7000 series blackouts, which publish Tv 0.
Is it private at night?
Far more so than a screen, because there is no usable view through the weave in either direction. With the lights on it will still show as a lit panel from outside, so where night privacy has to be absolute we still recommend a blackout or a second layer.
How wide can a Phifer SheerWeave Privacy shade be?
Phifer publishes standard roll widths of 126" (320 cm) for SheerWeave Privacy, so a single shade can run to about 126 inches wide before a seam or a second shade is needed. Wider openings are covered with two shades on one headrail programmed to move together, or with a seam placed where the mullion hides it. We confirm the exact limit for the chosen system when we measure.
Which shades can be made in SheerWeave Privacy?
SheerWeave Privacy is a roller shade fabric. We source it directly from Phifer, so the same weave goes on Lutron, Somfy, Crestron or Vertilux motors or a manual chain, cut and finished in our Fort Lauderdale workroom and installed by our own team from Miami to Palm Beach.
Can I see SheerWeave Privacy samples before ordering?
Yes. We keep the Phifer sample books in the Fort Lauderdale workroom (4539 Powerline Rd, by appointment) and the Miami Beach showroom (500 South Pointe Dr #150), and we bring the colours you shortlist to the in-home consultation so you can hold them against your glass in your own light.
