Light-filtering honeycomb that faces the street in white, whatever the room colour
Ripasso Translucent 25 mm is a polyester honeycomb from TOP Window Covering in a single 25 mm cell, 0.18 mm thick and 170 g/m2, with a smooth face toward the room and white on the side toward the glass. Ten colours: a gray scale from White and Ivory through Light Gray, Mid Gray and Dark Gray to Black, and four colours outside it, Green, Yellow, Red and Taupe. The white side is the useful part, because the street sees a pale, even shade whatever colour the room has, which suits a condo tower.
TOP's figures show what that white side does. Solar reflectance stays between 59 and 68.2 percent across the six neutrals, so even Black returns most of the sun's energy, while visible light steps down cleanly: 26.9 percent in White, 23.2 in Ivory, 15.1 in Light Gray, 7.5 in Mid Gray, 5 in Dark Gray and 3.2 in Black. That makes colour the light decision, from a bright room in White to a dim, even one in Black, and TOP rates the fabric for workstations. Those four publish no figures.
What Ripasso Translucent 25 mm does on your glass, and what it does not
Best use
Condo living rooms, home offices and breakfast rooms on sunny elevations where the building wants an even exterior. White or Ivory for a bright room, Light Gray for an office, Mid Gray, Dark Gray or Black for a television room that should go dim. Green, Yellow and Red suit a child's room or a study. For screen work, choose Dark Gray.
Privacy
By day it hides the room in every colour. At night the colour matters: White, at 26.9 percent visible transmission, shows a lit room as a glow with shadows, while Dark Gray and Black pass so little light that a silhouette is faint, though the window still glows. For a bedroom, use Ripasso Blackout 25 mm in the same colour.
Glare control
This is where the gray scale earns its place. At 5 and 3.2 percent visible transmission, Dark Gray and Black hold a monitor readable with the sun on the glass, and TOP rates the fabric for workstations. White softens the sun but turns into a bright panel. A low sun square on the window lights every colour, the dark ones least.
Limitations
It gives no view with the shade down and comes in one cell size. TOP lists no fire listing for it, which rules out a hotel or a condo common area that needs one, and Green, Yellow, Red and Taupe publish no figures, so judge them by sample. If the room is about the water view, choose a solar screen instead.

Where Ripasso Translucent 25 mm works here
On a South Florida tower the white side answers the association question before it is asked: a Mid Gray or Black living room still shows a pale, even face to the Intracoastal. We would use Ripasso in condo rooms that take the sun and do not need the view while the shade is down, the grays for a home office or a television wall, White for a bright breakfast room. The 25 mm cell keeps the pleat fine on standard windows.

Why does Black still reflect heat?
Because the side facing the glass is white. TOP measures Black at 59 percent solar reflectance, the same as Dark Gray, with the paler colours reaching 68.2, so a dark face toward the room costs far less in heat than a dark cloth coloured on both sides would. The air in the cells then slows whatever the fabric absorbs on its way into the room.
Should I choose this or the smaller-cell Ripasso?
This version has ten colours, including Green, Yellow, Red and Taupe, and published light figures; the smaller-cell Ripasso Translucent, at about three quarters of an inch, has the six neutrals only and no figures. Its finer, closer pleat suits small windows and glazed doors. If you want one of those four colours or the numbers, take the 25 mm.
How wide can a honeycomb shade in TOP Ripasso Translucent 25 mm be?
TOP makes Ripasso Translucent 25 mm in a 300 cm (118 in) roll. The roll width is the widest single piece we can cut, so one honeycomb shade can be made a little under 118 inches wide. Wider openings get two honeycomb shades side by side, set to move together, or a split placed where a mullion hides it. We confirm the exact limit for the operating system when we measure.

Ripasso Translucent 25 mm is a honeycomb shade fabric: the cells come formed in the fabric. We buy it from TOP Window Covering, cut it to the opening in our Fort Lauderdale workroom and build the shade cordless or motorized (Somfy Cord Lift WireFree in the headrail), and our own team installs it from Miami to Palm Beach.
