TOP Primitivo Translucent Fabric
25 colourways, light-filtering, 300 cm roll. TOP Window Covering fabric, made into honeycomb shades in our Fort Lauderdale workroom and installed from Miami to Palm Beach.
Light-filtering honeycomb in 25 colourways, with a blackout twin for the bedrooms
Primitivo Translucent has the longest colour card among TOP Window Covering's light-filtering honeycombs: 25 colourways, from White, Ivory and Cream through Steel Blue, Navy and Adriatic Blue to Pomegranate, Apple Green and Golden Yellow. The cloth is thin and light at 0.18 mm and 150 g/m2, and TOP forms it into 25 mm or 32 mm cells, so a lowered shade reads as rows of even horizontal pleats that glow with daylight. It is for living rooms, dens, studies and children's rooms that should stay bright without an outlook, and for a house that wants a colour other than white at the window.
The choice is colour first and cell size second, and both are made by eye, because TOP publishes no datasheet for this collection: no light figures, no composition and no fire listings. Two of the swatches on TOP's page carry an item number but no colour name. With a card this wide, colour does the work a datasheet would: White and Ivory let the most daylight through, the blues and Pomegranate dim the room and tint the light, and the grays sit in between. The trade-off is plain: no view while the shade is down, and no numbers to defend the choice with.
What Primitivo Translucent does on your glass, and what it does not
Best use
Living rooms, dens, studies and children's rooms on the street or garden side, where daylight matters and the outlook does not. Take White, Ivory or Cream where the room must stay bright, Gray, Taupe or Dune where the shade should recede, and the strong colours where a room wants one. Use the 25 mm cell on standard windows and the 32 mm on tall ones. In a child's room, build it cordless.
Privacy
By day it hides the room completely and gives no view either way. After dark, with the lamps on, the shade glows from the street and anyone standing close to it shows as a shadow, more so in the pale colours than in Navy or Black. For a bedroom or a ground-floor room that must be private at night, use Primitivo Blackout in the same colour.
Glare control
A light-filtering cloth has no openness, so direct sun arrives as an even glow across the pleats rather than a beam, which keeps a television or a laptop workable in most rooms. TOP publishes no optical figures to rank the colours, but the darker ones keep the glow lowest. A low western sun square on the window still turns the whole shade into a bright panel, brightest in White.
Limitations
With no datasheet behind it, Primitivo Translucent cannot go into a hotel, an office or a condo common area that asks for light figures or a fire listing. It gives no view while it is down. If the window is there for the water and the shade will be down all afternoon, do not choose a honeycomb at all: a solar screen cuts the glare and keeps the horizon.

Where Primitivo Translucent works here
In South Florida we would use Primitivo Translucent on the street side of a Fort Lauderdale or Boca Raton house, where a room needs daylight and cover from the sidewalk more than it needs the view. Pale colours return more of the sun's heat toward the glass and the air in the cells slows the rest, so on west glass we stay near White, Ivory or Sand. We build it as a honeycomb shade, cordless or on Somfy Cord Lift WireFree motors, which need no wiring.
Its twin, Primitivo Blackout, carries every named colour on this card as a film-laminated blackout for the bedrooms, but offers the 32 mm cell in only six of its colours.
Primitivo Translucent: frequently asked
Should I choose the 25 mm or the 32 mm cell?
The 25 mm cell, about an inch, gives a finer pleat that sits quietly on standard windows and French doors. The 32 mm cell, about an inch and a quarter, makes a deeper, bolder pleat face that keeps its scale on a tall window seen from across a large room. If the bedrooms will be in Primitivo Blackout, settle the cell first: the blackout offers 32 mm in six colours only.
Why are there no light figures for Primitivo Translucent?
Because TOP publishes no datasheet for it, so there is no light transmission figure, composition or fire listing to quote, and we will not borrow numbers from another fabric. With 25 colourways running from White to Navy, the daylight in the room changes a great deal from colour to colour, so we bring your shortlist to the window at the time of day the room is used and you choose from what you see.
Can the bedrooms match in blackout?
Yes, by name. Every named colour on this card also appears in Primitivo Blackout, so a living room in light-filtering Sand can sit beside a bedroom in blackout Sand. A laminated blackout is a different cloth, though, so we hold the two samples together in daylight before ordering a matched house, and we check that each colour comes in the cell you want.
How wide can a honeycomb shade in TOP Primitivo Translucent be?
TOP makes Primitivo Translucent in a 300 cm (118.1 in) roll. The roll width is the widest single piece we can cut, so one honeycomb shade can be made a little under 118.1 inches wide. Wider openings get two honeycomb shades side by side, set to move together, or a split placed where a mullion hides it. We confirm the exact limit for the operating system when we measure.
Which shades can be made in Primitivo Translucent?
Primitivo Translucent is a honeycomb shade fabric: the cells come formed in the fabric. We buy it from TOP Window Covering, cut it to the opening in our Fort Lauderdale workroom and build the shade cordless or motorized (Somfy Cord Lift WireFree in the headrail), and our own team installs it from Miami to Palm Beach.
Can I see Primitivo Translucent samples before ordering?
Yes. Shortlist the colours here and we bring TOP samples of them to the in-home consultation, so you can hold them against your own glass in your own light. Our Fort Lauderdale workroom (4539 Powerline Rd, by appointment) and Miami Beach showroom (500 South Pointe Dr #150) have motorized shades running if you want to see one move.
