TOP Primitivo Blackout Fabric
25 colourways, blackout, 300 cm roll. TOP Window Covering fabric, made into honeycomb shades in our Fort Lauderdale workroom and installed from Miami to Palm Beach.
Blackout honeycomb in 26 colourways, matched by name to the light-filtering Primitivo
Primitivo Blackout is the film-laminated blackout version of TOP Window Covering's Primitivo honeycomb, with the longest blackout colour card in TOP's honeycomb range: 26 colourways, from White, Ivory and Light Gray through Misty Rose, Pigeon and Twill to Navy, Adriatic Blue, Pomegranate and Golden Yellow. The cloth is a point-bonded polyester, 0.2 mm thick and 152 g/m2, formed into 25 mm cells in nearly every colour and 32 mm cells in six. It is the blackout for bedrooms, nurseries and media rooms where the shade should be a colour rather than a neutral.
The cell narrows the colour. The strong colours come in the 25 mm cell; in 32 mm, TOP's item list offers only Sand, Opal, Gray, White, Ivory and Light Gray, so a tall window that wants the deeper pleat takes one of those six. TOP publishes no optical figures for this fabric, so its darkness is its class rather than a number: a laminated cloth stops light, and what reaches the room comes in around the edges. Pale colours send more of the sun's heat back to the glass while the deep ones absorb it. Taupe is listed without a swatch picture, so it is chosen from a sample.
What Primitivo Blackout does on your glass, and what it does not
Best use
Bedrooms, nurseries, guest suites and media rooms, and especially a child's room that wants a colour rather than a neutral. Take the 25 mm cell when the colour leads, since the strong colours come only in it, and the 32 mm cell in White, Ivory, Light Gray, Sand, Opal or Gray when a tall window needs the deeper pleat. On west glass, stay pale. In a nursery, build it cordless.
Privacy
Complete through the cloth, by day and after dark, in every colour, because a laminated blackout passes no image of the room. The giveaway is the edge: an inside-mounted shade leaves a thin line of light down each side that tells the street a lamp is on. Mounting outside the frame with an overlap closes most of it. A child's room in Sunset is as private as one in White.
Glare control
There is no glare to manage because there is no daylight: with the shade down the room runs on its own lights, which is right for a media room or a nap and wrong for a desk. TOP publishes no optical figures for this fabric. For a room that needs softened daylight instead, use Primitivo Translucent in the same colour.
Limitations
TOP marks Primitivo Blackout unsuitable for humid rooms and lists no fire listing on its datasheet, so it does not belong in a bathroom, a hotel room or a condo common area. The 32 mm cell comes in six colours only, and the shade gives no daylight while it is down. For a bathroom, the honeycomb TOP rates for humid rooms is Mogri Translucent, a light-filtering cloth.

Where Primitivo Blackout works here
Primitivo Blackout is how we would give a child's room or a teenager's bedroom in a Broward or Palm Beach house a colour of its own, Adriatic Blue, Apple Green or Sunset, and still darken it at night. Built as a cordless honeycomb shade, it leaves no cord hanging at the window. In a primary bedroom on west glass we would take White, Ivory or Light Gray in the 32 mm cell, motorized on Somfy Cord Lift WireFree, with Primitivo Translucent to match in the living room.
Primitivo Translucent is its light-filtering twin in nearly all the same colour names, for the living rooms beside a Primitivo Blackout bedroom, though TOP publishes no datasheet for it.
Primitivo Blackout: frequently asked
Which colours come in the 32 mm cell?
Six, on TOP's item list: Sand, Opal, Gray, White, Ivory and Light Gray. The strong colours, from Navy and Adriatic Blue to Pomegranate and Sunset, are listed in the 25 mm cell only. So if a tall window or a large room calls for the deeper 32 mm pleat, the choice is one of those six; if the colour leads, the 25 mm cell it is.
Does it match the light-filtering Primitivo?
By name, yes: every named colour in Primitivo Translucent also appears here, and the blackout card adds a few more, among them Misty Rose and Pigeon. Two cautions. The 32 mm cell limits a matched pair to six colours, and a laminated blackout is a different cloth from a light-filtering one, so we hold the two samples together in daylight before ordering a matched house.
Which colour keeps a west bedroom coolest?
TOP publishes no solar figures for Primitivo Blackout, so the answer is physics rather than a number. The palest colours, White, Ivory and Cream, reflect the most sun back toward the glass; Navy, Black and Pomegranate absorb the most and warm up at the window. The air in the cells slows that warmth on its way into the room, but on hard west glass we would keep to the pale end.
How wide can a honeycomb shade in TOP Primitivo Blackout be?
TOP makes Primitivo Blackout in a 300 cm (118 in) roll. The roll width is the widest single piece we can cut, so one honeycomb shade can be made a little under 118 inches wide. A seam in a blackout shows as a line of light, so wider openings get two shades side by side, set to move together. We confirm the exact limit for the operating system when we measure.
Which shades can be made in Primitivo Blackout?
Primitivo Blackout is a honeycomb shade fabric: the cells come formed in the fabric. We buy it from TOP Window Covering, cut it to the opening in our Fort Lauderdale workroom and build the shade cordless or motorized (Somfy Cord Lift WireFree in the headrail), and our own team installs it from Miami to Palm Beach.
Can I see Primitivo Blackout samples before ordering?
Yes. Shortlist the colours here and we bring TOP samples of them to the in-home consultation, so you can hold them against your own glass in your own light. Our Fort Lauderdale workroom (4539 Powerline Rd, by appointment) and Miami Beach showroom (500 South Pointe Dr #150) have motorized shades running if you want to see one move.
