A textured blackout honeycomb in eight colours, for bedrooms rather than bathrooms
Mogri Blackout is the film-laminated blackout version of TOP Window Covering's Mogri honeycomb: a spun-lace polyester with a surface that looks woven, 0.25 mm thick and 157 g/m2, in 25 mm and 32 mm cells with 38 mm and 45 mm on request. Eight colours, Sand, Taupe, Tea, Brown, Light Gray, Steel, Dark Gray and Blue, the same names as the light-filtering Mogri. It suits bedrooms and media rooms where a plain blackout would look too flat.
The twins differ more than their names suggest. Mogri Translucent carries four fire listings and a humid-room rating on its datasheet; Mogri Blackout carries neither, and TOP marks it unsuitable for humid rooms. In return the blackout is listed free of PVC, which the light-filtering version is not. TOP publishes no optical figures for the blackout, so its darkness is its class: no light through the cloth, some at the edges. Choose it for a bedroom, not a bath.
What Mogri Blackout does on your glass, and what it does not
Best use
Bedrooms, guest rooms, nurseries and media rooms that want texture rather than a flat face. Take the 25 mm cell on standard windows, the 32 mm on tall ones, and 38 mm or 45 mm on request for a large opening. On west glass, take one of the paler colours. For a bedroom, this is the Mogri to choose.
Privacy
Complete through the cloth in all eight colours, by day and after dark, because a film-laminated blackout passes no image of the room. The edge of an inside-mounted shade is the giveaway, a thin line of light that tells the street a lamp is on; an outside mount with an overlap closes most of it.
Glare control
None reaches the room through the cloth, so the room runs on its own lights with the shade down, which is right for a media room or a nap and wrong for a desk. For a home office in the same look, use Mogri Translucent, which TOP rates for workstations.
Limitations
Not for bathrooms, pool baths or laundry rooms, since TOP marks it unsuitable for humid rooms, and not for a hotel or a condo common area, since its datasheet lists no fire listing. TOP publishes no optical figures. It gives no daylight with the shade down. For a hotel room, look at TOP's flame-retardant contract fabrics.

Where Mogri Blackout works here
In a South Florida house we would run Mogri Blackout in the bedrooms and Mogri Translucent in the bathrooms and living areas, in the same colour, which gives one textured look through a whole floor and keeps the wet rooms on the humid-rated fabric. In a primary bedroom on west glass, Sand or Light Gray keeps the cloth cooler than Brown or Dark Gray.
Mogri Translucent shares the eight colour names and the cell sizes but adds fire listings and a humid-room rating, so the two divide a house between bedrooms and wet rooms.

Which Mogri goes in a bathroom?
Mogri Translucent. TOP rates it for humid rooms and marks this blackout unsuitable for them, so a bathroom gets the light-filtering fabric in the same colour as the bedroom next door. If that bathroom also has to go dark at night, we would make it as a roller shade in a TOP blackout rated for humid rooms, such as Orient Blackout White Backing.
How wide can a honeycomb shade in TOP Mogri Blackout be?
TOP makes Mogri Blackout in a 300 cm (118 in) roll. The roll width is the widest single piece we can cut, so one honeycomb shade can be made a little under 118 inches wide. A seam in a blackout shows as a line of light, so wider openings get two shades side by side, set to move together. We confirm the exact limit for the operating system when we measure.
Which shades can be made in Mogri Blackout?
Mogri Blackout is a honeycomb shade fabric: the cells come formed in the fabric. We buy it from TOP Window Covering, cut it to the opening in our Fort Lauderdale workroom and build the shade cordless or motorized (Somfy Cord Lift WireFree in the headrail), and our own team installs it from Miami to Palm Beach.
