Blackout honeycomb in the smallest cell, for small bedroom windows and glazed doors
Ripasso Blackout 20 mm is TOP Window Covering's blackout honeycomb in its smallest cell, 20 mm, about three quarters of an inch, in a polyester 0.16 mm thick and 215 g/m2. Six colours, White, Ivory, Light Gray, Mid Gray, Dark Gray and Black, the same names as Ripasso Translucent 20 mm. The fine pleat keeps a blackout discreet on a small bedroom window, a nursery window or a glazed door, and TOP rates the fabric suitable for workstations.
TOP publishes no optical figures for this version, so its darkness is the blackout class rather than a number: no light through the cloth, a thin line at the edges of a shade mounted inside the frame. The colour decision is heat and look, White and Ivory for sunny glass, the grays and Black where the shade should recede. The trade-off is range: six colours, one cell, and no room photos from TOP to judge it by.
What Ripasso Blackout 20 mm does on your glass, and what it does not
Best use
Nursery and bedroom windows, glazed doors and French doors from a bedroom, wherever a blackout has to fit a small or narrow opening and a deeper pleat would look heavy. White or Ivory on sunny glass, the grays or Black where the shade should disappear. For a nursery, build it cordless. For a wide window, step up to the larger-cell Ripasso.
Privacy
Complete through the cloth in all six colours, by day and after dark. On a glazed door, light passes around the edges of the shade, so the outline of the glass glows; on a window, an outside mount with an overlap closes most of the gap. Nobody sees into the room, but the edges show that a lamp is on.
Glare control
None through the cloth, so a bedroom television has no window competing with it, and the daylight goes too. TOP rates the fabric for workstations, but a blackout at a desk leaves you working by lamp. For a home office with small windows, the light-filtering Ripasso Translucent 20 mm is the better shade.
Limitations
TOP publishes no optical figures for it and lists no fire listing, so it is a fabric for private rooms. It comes in six colours and one small cell, and it gives no daylight with the shade down. On a large window the fine pleat looks busy and the card is short: choose the larger-cell Ripasso blackout or Chianti Blackout in its deeper cell there.

TOP makes Ripasso Blackout 20 mm in a 300 cm (118 in) roll. The roll width is the widest single piece we can cut, so one honeycomb shade can be made a little under 118 inches wide. A seam in a blackout shows as a line of light, so wider openings get two shades side by side, set to move together. We confirm the exact limit for the operating system when we measure.
