Textured blackout honeycomb in six colours, with cells up to 45 mm on request
Soprano Blackout is the film-laminated blackout version of TOP Window Covering's Soprano honeycomb: a spun-lace polyester with a texture that reads in lines, 0.2 mm thick and 157 g/m2, in 25 mm and 32 mm cells with 38 mm and 45 mm on request. Six colours, Glacier, Silver Birch, Taupe, Monument, Pewter and Caviar, all pictured with their names on TOP's page. It is for bedrooms and media rooms where the shade should look like a textile.
TOP publishes no optical figures and lists no fire listings for Soprano Blackout, and marks it unsuitable for humid rooms, so what remains to decide is colour and cell. The cells on request matter on big glass: a 45 mm pleat holds its scale on a double-height window where a 25 mm one would look fussy. Choose the colour from the sample, since names like Monument and Pewter tell you little. The trade-off is a short card and no performance data.
What Soprano Blackout does on your glass, and what it does not
Best use
Bedrooms, guest suites and media rooms, especially with tall windows where the 32 mm cell or the larger cells on request suit the scale. Choose the colour from a sample at the window, since TOP publishes no figures to rank the six. On a high window, motorize it. For a textured bedroom, this is the Soprano to choose.
Privacy
Complete through the cloth, in all six colours, by day and after dark, since a film-laminated blackout passes no image of the room. Light still passes at the edges of an inside-mounted shade and tells the street a lamp is on; an outside mount with an overlap closes most of it.
Glare control
None, because nothing comes through the cloth, and the daylight goes with the glare: a television or a projector has the room to itself, and a desk has only lamps. For a room used by day, use Soprano Translucent in the same colour instead.
Limitations
No optical figures, no fire listings and no humid-room rating: keep it out of bathrooms, hotel rooms and common areas a fire marshal reviews. Six colours is a short card, and it gives no daylight. For a bathroom in a textured honeycomb, use Mogri Translucent, which TOP rates for humid rooms.

In Palm Beach and Boca Raton houses with tall bedroom windows, Soprano Blackout in a 32 mm or larger cell gives a blackout that suits the scale of the room, with Soprano Translucent under the same names for the living areas. Where the windows are out of reach, we would motorize the bedroom shades on Somfy Cord Lift WireFree, so nobody has to reach them.
Soprano Translucent is the light-filtering twin in the same six colour names and cell sizes, though TOP's page shows its swatches without names.

Which cell size should I choose?
The 25 mm cell for standard bedroom windows, the 32 mm for tall ones, and 38 mm or 45 mm, on request from TOP, for very large or double-height glass, where a bigger cell makes a deeper, bolder pleat that suits the wall. If the living room is in Soprano Translucent, keep the same cell in both rooms so the pleats match across the house.
How wide can a honeycomb shade in TOP Soprano Blackout be?
TOP makes Soprano Blackout in a 300 cm (118 in) roll. The roll width is the widest single piece we can cut, so one honeycomb shade can be made a little under 118 inches wide. A seam in a blackout shows as a line of light, so wider openings get two shades side by side, set to move together. We confirm the exact limit for the operating system when we measure.
Which shades can be made in Soprano Blackout?
Soprano Blackout is a honeycomb shade fabric: the cells come formed in the fabric. We buy it from TOP Window Covering, cut it to the opening in our Fort Lauderdale workroom and build the shade cordless or motorized (Somfy Cord Lift WireFree in the headrail), and our own team installs it from Miami to Palm Beach.
