Holland & Sherry Barclay
Wool flannel windowpane, 6 colourways, 100% wool, 59 in wide. Holland & Sherry's own figures, and how we make it up as draperies in our Fort Lauderdale workroom, from the cloth your designer orders.
6 colourways of wool flannel windowpane, 59 in wide
Barclay is one of the Holland & Sherry cloths we make up as draperies: a wool flannel windowpane in their 9-10 Savile Row collection (100% wool, 59 in wide, made in Chile). It comes in 6 colourways, Gull, Sepia, Teal, Celeste, Grey Blue and Carbon. Their spec sheet gives its end use as "Upholstery, drapery, accessories, soft goods and wall upholstery".
The 59 in width runs up the roll, so panels are made of joined widths and the seams fall inside the pleats. Holland & Sherry give the repeat as 3.07 in across, 3.66 in down; we match it across every seam and from window to window, which adds yardage and is figured into the order.
Wool brings weight, a soft hand and quiet, and it resists flame on its own; what it does not resist is the sun, which fades and weakens it, so it wants a lining and, on bright south and west glass, a shade in front of it. In a lived-in, air-conditioned house it is at home; in a house shut up for the summer, humidity is its risk (curtain fabric types). It weighs 13 oz per linear yard (420 g per linear metre) by Holland & Sherry's figures.
Their drapery note advises hanging the drapery before it is hemmed, so the cloth settles to the room, and lining every drapery, to block the light and protect the face.

What Barclay does at the window, and what it does not
Best use
We would make Barclay up as tailored panels, pinch pleat or ripplefold, lined, for a bedroom, a study or a living room that wants the warmth of a suiting cloth.
Light and privacy
Closed, Barclay gives full privacy; how much light comes through is decided by the lining we sew behind it: light-filtering for living rooms, interlining for body and quiet, blackout for bedrooms (the lining guide).
Cloth and care
100% wool; 13 oz per linear yard (420 g per linear metre); Martindale 20,000 rubs. Care, by Holland & Sherry's sheet: professional dry clean only, cleaning code S. Holland & Sherry list it as PFAS free.
Limitations
Not for unshaded south or west glass on its own: the sun fades natural fibres, so a shade goes in front of it there. At 59 in a wide panel is made of joined widths, and the repeat is matched at every seam, which costs yardage. No NFPA 701 result in Holland & Sherry's data, so a condo common area or a commercial job that asks for it needs the cloth flame treated with a certificate, if Holland & Sherry can supply it that way, or another cloth.

How Barclay becomes draperies in your home
Your designer specifies
Holland & Sherry sell to the trade, so the cloth is chosen and ordered by your designer, with the colour code and the sample in hand. Not working with a designer? Tell us; we can suggest a cloth we order ourselves.
We measure and give the yardage
We measure the windows, settle the style, the fullness and the lining, and work out the yardage on the width and the repeat, so the order to Holland & Sherry is right the first time.
We make and install
The cloth comes to our Fort Lauderdale workroom, where our five in-house seamstresses cut and sew the draperies, and our own installers hang them on the rod, track or motorized system the window calls for.
Where Barclay works here
In South Florida a wool drapery belongs in an air-conditioned room with the glass shaded: a study, a dining room, a bedroom with a blackout lining, a media room where weight and quiet matter. At the Ritz-Carlton Residences Miami Beach we made two Holland & Sherry wool jacquards up as blackout drapery on Lutron Sivoia QS tracks, to the designer's schedule; Barclay would be built the same way.
For the same use, compare Barclay with Sloane Sq (wool flannel windowpane, 59 in, 8 colourways), Handsome Plaid (mélange wool plaid, 59 in, 5 colourways) and Soho Sq (heavy mélange wool plaid, 59 in, 4 colourways).

Barclay: frequently asked
How many colours does Holland & Sherry Barclay come in?
6 colourways on Holland & Sherry's site when we read it on October 7, 2026: Gull, Sepia, Teal, Celeste, Grey Blue and Carbon. Every one is listed on this page with its code; Holland & Sherry's photographs of each are on their own site, linked from the table.
Can I buy Barclay from you?
No. Holland & Sherry sell to the trade, so your designer orders the cloth from them. We make it up and install it: we measure and work out the yardage, the cloth is sent to our Fort Lauderdale workroom, and our seamstresses cut and sew the draperies.
How is Barclay cleaned?
By Holland & Sherry's sheet: professional dry clean only, cleaning code S. For dust between cleanings, their care note says to brush gently or vacuum with an upholstery attachment. More in cleaning shades and drapery.
Will Barclay need seams?
Yes on most windows: at 59 in it runs up the roll, so a panel wider than one width is made of joined widths, with the seams hidden inside the pleats and the repeat matched at each seam.
What does Barclay cost made up as draperies?
The cloth is bought through your designer at Holland & Sherry's price, so our quote covers what we make and install: the fabrication, the lining, the track or rod and the installation, worked out from the measure. Ask for a workroom price with the button above and we come back with a figure, not a range.
