A thin, light pleat in six neutrals including Black, for shaded windows
Venezia Pleated is the lightest pleated shade fabric in TOP Window Covering's range: a heat-set polyester only 0.3 mm thick and 94 g/m2, folded into a 20 mm pleat on a 238 cm roll (93.7 inches). TOP classes it as light-filtering, so the shade hides the room and passes soft, diffused daylight. Six colours keep to neutrals, Ice White, Ivory, Beige, Taupe, Brown and Black, and Black is unusual in a light-filtering pleat: it reads as a dark line at the window from inside and from the street.
TOP publishes no light or solar figures for Venezia and gives no humid-room listing, so the colour is judged with samples at the window. Ice White and Ivory keep a room brightest; Brown and Black dim it most and absorb the most heat. The real caution is fading: TOP rates Venezia 4 for colour fastness to light, the lowest of its pleated fabrics, so on a window that takes direct sun for hours the colour will not hold as long. We keep it to north and east windows and shaded rooms.
What Venezia Pleated does on your glass, and what it does not
Best use
North and east windows, shaded rooms and windows behind a porch roof: a study, a guest room, a hallway, a dressing room. Ice White or Ivory where the room should stay bright; Taupe, Brown or Black for a calmer, dimmer room or a stronger line at the window. If the window takes hard afternoon sun, this is not the pleat for it.
Privacy
By day it hides the room, as a light-filtering cloth does. After dark, with lamps on, the shade glows and a person close to it shows as a silhouette, more clearly through Ice White and Ivory than through Black. Light also comes through the cord hole in each pleat. For a bedroom that must be private at night, use a blackout shade.
Glare control
With no figures published, rely on the class: a light-filtering pleat diffuses direct sun into an even glow with no sun disc, and the dark colours keep that glow lowest. Black and Brown dim a bright window most; Ice White glows. Without figures we would not promise a readable screen on a sunny wall, so test a sample there first.
Limitations
Fading is the main limit: rated 4 for light fastness, Venezia is the wrong choice for a window in direct sun for hours. It will not darken a room, it holds no insulating air the way a honeycomb cell does, and TOP lists no humid-room suitability or fire rating. For a dark or insulated room, choose a TOP honeycomb instead.

In South Florida, Venezia belongs on the shaded side of the house: a north-facing study, a guest room under a deep overhang, a hallway, a dressing room window. On a sunny west or south window we would choose a pleat with a higher light-fastness rating and published figures.
Orient Pleated is the heavier light-filtering pleat, with a much longer colour card, published light figures and a higher light-fastness rating, which makes it the choice for sunny windows.

Is Black a sensible colour for a pleated shade?
On the right window. A black light-filtering cloth keeps a room dim and gives a strong, dark line from the street, but it absorbs the most heat, and with a light-fastness rating of 4 it will lose colour faster in strong sun. On a shaded north or east window it works well; on a sunny one, choose a pleat with a higher rating.

TOP makes Venezia Pleated 20 mm in a 238 cm (93.7 in) roll. The roll width is the widest single piece we can cut, so one pleated shade can be made a little under 93.7 inches wide. Wider openings get two pleated shades side by side, set to move together, or a split placed where a mullion hides it. We confirm the exact limit for the operating system when we measure.
