TOP Puglia Pleated 20 mm Fabric
7 colourways, light-filtering, 238 cm roll. TOP Window Covering fabric, made into pleated shades in our Fort Lauderdale workroom and installed from Miami to Palm Beach.
A bright, textured pleat in seven colours for rooms that want daylight, not dimness
Puglia Pleated is a textured pleated shade fabric from TOP Window Covering: a heat-set polyester at 193 g/m2, folded into a 20 mm pleat on a 238 cm roll (93.7 inches). The cloth reads like linen, with yarns of slightly different tones in each colour, and its seven colours carry names from the Puglia roller card: White, Ivory, Beige, Timber, Gray, Render and Griffin. Made up, it is a single layer of folded fabric. TOP classes it as light-filtering, so it hides the room rather than framing a view, and it is a bright one.
The figures explain the brightness. White, Ivory and Beige pass 48 to 49 percent of the visible light and the same share of the sun's energy, so the room stays bright and much of the heat still comes through. Griffin and Render, at Tv 21 and 19, are the calm end of the card, though Render absorbs about a third of the solar energy. That makes Puglia Pleated a fabric for softening daylight in rooms with gentle sun, not for dimming a room or cooling it. TOP rates its colour fastness to light above 5.
What Puglia Pleated does on your glass, and what it does not
Best use
Rooms with gentle sun that want texture and plenty of daylight: a breakfast room, a study, a guest room, a kitchen window, a hallway. White, Ivory or Beige for the brightest room; Timber or Gray as the middle; Griffin or Render where the light should calm down. If the room needs to be dim, private at night or cool, this is the wrong pleat.
Privacy
TOP classes it as light-filtering, so by day it hides the room rather than showing it. After dark, with lamps on, the bright colours glow strongly, a person near the shade reads as a clear silhouette and the cord holes show as pinpoints. A street-facing room needs a second treatment for the night, such as a blackout shade or a lined drapery.
Glare control
It softens glare rather than controlling it. White, Ivory and Beige let almost half the light through and glow bright with sun on them, so a television facing the window will struggle. Griffin and Render do better but still leave a bright window. For a room built around a screen, choose a dimmer pleat or a honeycomb.
Limitations
Not for a bathroom or a laundry, since TOP gives no humid-room listing; not for a bedroom, since nothing on this card dims a room; not for hot west glass, where the pale colours pass 48 to 49 percent of the sun's energy and the cloth passes 17 to 36 percent of UV. For any of those jobs, look at a TOP honeycomb.

Every Puglia Pleated 20 mm colourway, with TOP's published figures
Tv = visible light transmitted, Ts = solar energy transmitted, Rs = solar energy reflected, As = solar energy absorbed, Tuv = UV transmitted, in percent for the fabric alone, as published on TOP's datasheet; a dash means TOP publishes no figure for that colour. We bring TOP samples of the colours you shortlist to the consultation.
Where Puglia Pleated 20 mm works here
Puglia Pleated suits windows with filtered or morning sun in rooms that want daylight: a breakfast room, a study, a guest room, a kitchen window. We make it cordless, or on Somfy Cord Lift WireFree motors where the windows are high. TOP gives no humid-room listing for it, so we keep it out of bathrooms. On west glass, where the pale colours let about half the sun's energy through, we would choose a different shade.
Puglia Transparent carries these seven colour names, plus accent colours such as Sea Foam and Pomegranate, as a see-through roller fabric on a wider roll.
Puglia Pleated 20 mm: frequently asked
Why is Puglia Pleated light-filtering when the Puglia roller is transparent?
That is TOP's classification, and we report it as published. The pleated figures are not darker: White passes 49 percent of the visible light, more than the roller's White. Treat both as bright fabrics. The class matters after dark: with lamps on, expect silhouettes through the pleat and a clear view into the room through the roller.
How wide can a pleated shade in TOP Puglia Pleated 20 mm be?
TOP makes Puglia Pleated 20 mm in a 238 cm (93.7 in) roll. The roll width is the widest single piece we can cut, so one pleated shade can be made a little under 93.7 inches wide. Wider openings get two pleated shades side by side, set to move together, or a split placed where a mullion hides it. We confirm the exact limit for the operating system when we measure.
Which shades can be made in Puglia Pleated 20 mm?
Puglia Pleated 20 mm is a pleated shade fabric with a 20 mm pleat. We buy it from TOP Window Covering, cut it to the opening in our Fort Lauderdale workroom and build the shade cordless or motorized (Somfy Cord Lift WireFree in the headrail), and our own team installs it from Miami to Palm Beach.
