TOP Puglia Transparent Fabric
12 colourways, transparent, 280 cm roll. TOP Window Covering fabric, made into roller shades in our Fort Lauderdale workroom and installed from Miami to Palm Beach.
A textured see-through roller for bright day rooms, with colour beyond the neutrals
Puglia Transparent is a textured see-through roller fabric from TOP Window Covering. The weave reads like linen, with yarns of slightly different tones in each colour, so even with the sun behind it the shade looks like cloth rather than a screen. TOP classes it as transparent: the outlook stays visible through it. The polyester is heat-set and fairly substantial at 193 g/m2, and the 280 cm roll (110 inches) covers most windows and many sliders in one piece. Twelve colours go beyond the usual whites, from White, Ivory and Timber to Sea Foam, Adriatic Blue, Golden Yellow and Pomegranate. It is for family rooms, dining rooms and kitchens that want daylight with texture.
TOP publishes a full set of light and solar figures for Puglia, and they settle most of the colour decision. Visible light transmission (Tv) runs from 21 to 44 percent: White at 44 keeps a room brightest, while Griffin at 21 and Pomegranate at 23 take the light down furthest and, being dark, give the clearest view out. Heat follows the same split, since Ivory absorbs only 4 percent of the sun's energy and White reflects half of it back out, while Griffin absorbs 32 percent. The honest trade-off is humidity: TOP marks Puglia as not suitable for humid rooms.
What Puglia Transparent does on your glass, and what it does not
Best use
Living rooms, family rooms, breakfast areas and dining rooms that want daylight, texture and the outlook at once, on windows that see morning sun or sun broken by trees or an overhang. Choose White, Ivory or Sea Foam to keep a room bright, Griffin, Pomegranate or Gray where the view out matters more than the glow. In a neutral scheme, stay with the neutrals.
Privacy
By day it softens the view both ways rather than closing it. At 21 to 44 percent visible transmission a passer-by makes out shapes and movement behind it, more readily through dark Griffin than through White, which reflects more of the daylight back at the street. After dark, with lamps on, the room is in view. Bedrooms need a blackout behind it on a dual roller.
Glare control
Puglia reduces glare without removing it, and colour sets the level. White, at Tv 44, still glows bright with sun on it; Griffin and Pomegranate are the calmest. A television opposite the window stays watchable in soft light and washes out with direct sun on the glass. No weave this open stops a low sun in line with the window, which is a west-room problem.
Limitations
Keep Puglia out of bathrooms, laundry rooms and anywhere steam collects: TOP marks it as not suitable for humid environments. It is not a heat fabric either, and it passes 17.1 to 28 percent of UV, so rugs and wood near the glass still fade. It will not darken a room. For hard afternoon sun, a solar screen is the right buy, not this.

Every Puglia Transparent colourway, with TOP's published figures
Tv = visible light transmitted, Ts = solar energy transmitted, Rs = solar energy reflected, As = solar energy absorbed, Tuv = UV transmitted, in percent for the fabric alone, as published on TOP's datasheet; a dash means TOP publishes no figure for that colour. We bring TOP samples of the colours you shortlist to the consultation.
Where Puglia Transparent works here
Puglia suits the bright, lived-in rooms of a South Florida house: a family room off a covered patio, a breakfast area, a dining room facing a garden, a living room on a low floor over the Intracoastal where trees or an overhang already break the sun. At 280 cm one shade spans most windows here. On unshaded west glass we would put a solar screen in its place, because the pale colours pass up to 48 percent of the sun's energy straight into the room.
Puglia Pleated carries the neutrals of this card, without the accent colours, as a separate pleated fabric that TOP classes as light-filtering rather than transparent.
Puglia Transparent: frequently asked
Will a coloured Puglia shade tint the room?
Yes, when the sun is on it. Daylight that passes through a coloured cloth takes on its colour, and Puglia passes plenty: Pomegranate lets through 23 percent of the visible light, Golden Yellow 29.8, Adriatic Blue 35.3 and Sea Foam 39.6. Expect a warm or cool cast on pale walls with the shade down. White and Ivory keep the light closest to neutral.
How much heat does Puglia keep out?
Some, not most. TOP publishes solar transmission (Ts) of 32.8 to 48 percent, so a third to almost half of the sun's energy comes straight through, and solar reflectance of 34 to 50 percent, highest in White. Puglia is a daylight fabric for windows the sun reaches gently. On a west-facing wall, a solar screen or an exterior shade does the heat work.
How wide can a roller shade in TOP Puglia Transparent be?
TOP makes Puglia Transparent in a 280 cm (110 in) roll. The roll width is the widest single piece we can cut, so one roller shade can be made a little under 110 inches wide. Wider openings get two roller shades side by side, set to move together, or a split placed where a mullion hides it. We confirm the exact limit for the operating system when we measure.
Which shades can be made in Puglia Transparent?
Puglia Transparent is a roller shade fabric. We buy it from TOP Window Covering by the roll and make the shades ourselves in our Fort Lauderdale workroom: cut square, finished with a weighted hem bar and fitted to a Lutron, Somfy or Crestron motor or a manual chain, then installed by our own team from Miami to Palm Beach.
Can I see Puglia Transparent samples before ordering?
Yes. Shortlist the colours here and we bring TOP samples of them to the in-home consultation, so you can hold them against your own glass in your own light. Our Fort Lauderdale workroom (4539 Powerline Rd, by appointment) and Miami Beach showroom (500 South Pointe Dr #150) have motorized shades running if you want to see one move.
