Crestron shade motors
The Digital QMT family, model by model: which tube, which link to the system, which shade size, and Crestron's own budget guide for the finished shade.
About Crestron shade motors
Crestron makes one motor family for its roller shades, the Digital QMT, in 12 current models across three ranges: the 3/4 Nm QMT3 (CSM-QMTDC-163-1) for shades to 96 inches, the 4 Nm QMT5 (CSM-QMTDC-250-4 and 275-4) for shades to 133 and 168 inches, and the battery-powered SG version of the QMT3 for rooms that cannot be wired. Each wired motor comes on Cresnet or infiNET EX; the international CSMI part numbers are the same motors.
Every model on these pages is on crestron.com today, with Crestron's own specifications. Exotic Shades is Crestron certified in Fort Lauderdale and Miami Beach; Crestron builds each shade to order from our measurements; we install it with our own team and commission it with your integrator.
How we choose a Crestron motor
Size the shade first
Width, height and fabric weight together set the motor: a 5% screen to 96 inches is a QMT3, a 12 ft blackout is a QMT5 on the 2.75 inch tube. Crestron's sizing charts are the reference; we run every opening through them before the order.
Wired where a cable can go
Cresnet motors take one 4-conductor home run carrying power and data, the most reliable link and the one we specify in new construction and renovations with open walls. Pre-wiring guide.
Wireless where it cannot
infiNET EX motors need only 24 V DC at the window and join the mesh through a gateway; battery SG motors need nothing at all. Both cost more per window in gateways and batteries than the cable they replace, so the choice is made per project.
The fabric is a separate decision
Every motor takes every fabric in the Crestron library; the fabric sets the tier of Crestron's budget price and the size limit, not the motor's control type.

The guide excludes control processors, keypads, interfaces, wiring, power supplies, programming and installation. Source (PDF).
Figures are Crestron's own budgetary MSRP guide of June 2022 for one motorized 5 Series roller shade, motor included, before options. They exclude the control system, wiring, power, programming and installation, and Crestron may have changed them since. We quote every project at the measure.
Crestron shade motors: frequently asked
Which Crestron motor is right for a 10 ft wide shade?
A QMT5: the CSM-QMTDC-250-4 on a 2.5 inch tube is rated to 133 inches and the 275-4 on a 2.75 inch tube to 168 inches, the exact one depending on shade height and fabric weight from Crestron's charts.
Do Crestron shade motors need an integrator?
The motors are Crestron devices on Cresnet or infiNET EX and are programmed in the processor with the rest of the home. We measure, specify, install and commission the shades and coordinate the programming with your integrator; on a project without one we bring one in.
Can I buy a Crestron shade motor on its own?
No. Crestron ships its motors only inside a complete shade built to the opening, which is also why Crestron publishes no motor prices, only a budgetary guide for the finished shade.
