Crestron Shading

What does Crestron make for shading, and what does it cost?

Crestron's shading catalogue is 36 products: the Digital QMT motor family (QMT3 to 96 inches, QMT5 to 168 inches, a battery SG version), one drapery track system and its motor, the Architectural and Decor hardware that mounts a shade in a pocket, behind a fascia or in the open, horizontal sheers and cable-guided shades, the 24 V DC power supplies and the two controllers that bring line-voltage and Somfy motors into Crestron. Alongside it, a fabric program of 457 colourways in 43 families, each with a price tier from 1 to 4.

Crestron sells none of it by the piece: a motor ships only inside a complete shade built to the opening, and Crestron publishes no product prices. What it does publish is a budgetary guide for the finished shade, by fabric tier and size, reproduced on these pages with its date. We are Crestron certified: we measure and specify, Crestron builds each shade to order from those measurements, and we install the shades with our own team and commission them into the home's processor with your integrator.

How to Choose

How to choose, in four decisions

Motor by shade size

QMT3 for shades to 96 inches in light and medium fabrics, QMT5 for wider or heavier shades to 168 inches, battery SG for a finished room. Shade motors.

Hardware by the ceiling

A pocket framed before drywall, a fascia on a finished ceiling, a cover in the jamb, or Decor brackets in the open. Hardware.

Fabric by the exposure

A 3% or 5% screen on the ocean, a light-filtering weave on a north wall, a blackout in the bedroom; the fabric sets the tier and the size limit. Fabric library.

Power by the count

One home run per motor to a supply in the closet, ten motors per hub, gateways for the wireless motors. Power and controllers.

Ranges

Control

How a Crestron shade is controlled

Keypads and touch screens

The shades join the same Crestron keypads and touch screens that run the lighting, so a room scene raises the shades as the lights warm; no separate remote.

Crestron Home app

Every shade and track in the app, room by room, with schedules for sunrise, sunset and away, and voice through the home's assistant where the integrator enables it.

Cresnet, infiNET EX and SG

Wired motors on Cresnet, wireless motors through an infiNET EX gateway, battery motors through the SG gateway: all Crestron devices in the processor, programmed by your integrator.

Other brands in the same scenes

The CI-SOMFY-RTS puts Somfy RTS shades on the processor and the C2N-SDC drives line-voltage motors; Lutron shades integrate through HomeWorks, as at the Ritz-Carlton Sunny Isles.

What It Costs

What a Crestron shade costs

Crestron publishes no prices for its motors, hardware or fabrics; its site's price handler answers nothing for any shade product, and the motor is never sold outside a finished shade. The one figure Crestron puts in public is its Shades Budgetary Estimation Guide of June 2022, MSRP for one motorized 5 Series roller shade by fabric tier and size, with per-foot options for fascia, covers and pockets. It excludes the control system, wiring, power, programming and installation, and Crestron may have moved its prices since.

We print that guide as it is, and we quote every project at the measure, with the shade, the hardware, the wiring plan and the commissioning on one number. For what our own installed projects have cost, see motorized shade cost by system and real pricing.

10 ft wide x 10 ft high$1,400$1,600$2,000$3,200

Options in the same guide: fascia $20 per ft; top and back cover $20 per ft; pocket $50 per ft; dual shade (two fabrics, one bracket) double the single-shade figure. The guide names example fabrics per tier: Tier 1: Bella, Mika, Merinda, Nava; Tier 2: E Screen, SheerWeave 2500, 2700 and 7500, Perla, Dilanna; Tier 3: SheerWeave 7000, Rachel, Nohea, Cosima; Tier 4: Flocke, Vizela, Harika; a few have changed tier since, and every fabric page gives the tier the Crestron fabric shop lists today. The guide excludes control processors, keypads, interfaces, wiring, power supplies, programming and installation. Source (PDF).

We are Crestron certified: we measure and specify the shades, Crestron builds them to order, our Fort Lauderdale workroom sews the draperies for the Crestron track, and we install everything with our own team from Miami to Palm Beach and commission it with the home's integrator, who programs the processor.

What does a Crestron motorized shade cost?

Crestron's own budgetary guide (June 2022) lists one motorized 5 Series roller shade from $900 (3 x 5 ft, Tier 1 fabric) to $3,200 (10 x 10 ft, Tier 4 fabric) MSRP, before options, control, wiring and installation. We quote the finished, installed shade at the measure.

Which fabrics can go on a Crestron shade?

Any of the 457 colourways in Crestron's fabric program, from the Designer and Heritage collections and the horizontal sheer collections, most of them woven by Mermet and Phifer. Every one is in the Crestron fabric library with its swatch, openness, solar figures and price tier.

Crestron, Lutron or Somfy?

If the home runs Crestron, the shades should join it, on Crestron motors or on Lutron or Somfy motors integrated into it. If it does not, Lutron and Somfy each stand on their own. Our automation page and Lutron vs Somfy comparison set out the trade-offs.
