The 3% default for oceanfront glass, on the Phifer cardTier 2
SheerWeave 2410 is the 3% weave of the Phifer 2500 family, and 3% is where most South Florida glass ends up: enough weave to hold a bright afternoon on the ocean, enough opening to keep the water in view. Crestron lists it in the Heritage Collection at Tier 2, 124 inches wide in every colourway, with a visible transmittance of 3% to 17% depending on the colour. We cut the same Phifer weave in our own Fort Lauderdale workroom for Lutron and Somfy shades, so we know how it hangs, how it rolls and what it does at four in the afternoon before it goes into the Crestron Design Tool as a finished shade.
The card is eleven colourways on five bases, and at 3% the spread between them is wide. Charcoal transmits 3% of the solar energy and absorbs 94% at the glass, the clearest view on the page and the warmest fabric; Brilliant/White transmits 18% and reflects 70%, the coolest and the brightest. Between them Oyster reflects 64%, Beige 48% and Pearl Gray 31% with 6% transmitted, and the charcoal mixes keep the view of Charcoal while giving a little back, Charcoal/Alpaca reflecting 20% and Charcoal/Grey 9%. The full optical and fire data for the weave is on our Phifer SheerWeave 2500 series page.
Woven by Phifer; the mill's full data is on our Phifer SheerWeave 2500 series page.
What SheerWeave 2410 does on your glass, and what it does not
Best use
The ocean front, the south glass, the living spaces of a condo from Miami Beach to Boca Raton: 3% is the openness we put down first and move off only with a reason. Charcoal/Chestnut or Charcoal/Grey on a slider wall that frames the water, Oyster/Pearl Grey or Beige/Pearl Gray in a pale room where the glass faces the morning. For a media room or a west office, 2500; for shaded north glass, 2390 or 2360.
Privacy
By day the weave covers the room from the street well enough, most in the pale colourways that bounce daylight back and least in Charcoal, whose clear view out is a clear view in for anyone at the glass. By night, none in any colour: with the lights on, a 3% screen is a lit window from outside. A bedroom or ground-floor bathroom takes a second, light-filtering or blackout layer on a dual roller.
Glare control
At the dark end of the card the room goes soft and a television stays watchable all afternoon; at the pale end the view is crisp and a screen facing the window still washes out. Charcoal/Chestnut at 3% of solar energy transmitted is the pick where glare is the complaint; Oyster/Beige at 11% is the pale colourway that behaves best. A low sun square in the window gets through any of them.
Limitations
It darkens nothing, it gives no privacy after dark, and on a hard west wall it leaves too much of the afternoon in the room. Beyond the roll width a shade is railroaded, and one taller than that as well needs a seam, placed on a mullion. Charcoal/Grey holds 88% of the solar energy at the glass; Beige/Pearl Gray at 54% absorbed is the middle road. For sleep, a blackout shade behind it.

Where SheerWeave 2410 works here
2410 is the weave we specify on the ocean side from Sunny Isles Beach to Hillsboro Beach and on the south glass of a Boca Raton golf-course house: living rooms, dining rooms, a primary bedroom by day with a blackout behind it. Charcoal or Charcoal/Grey when the client wants the water and does not mind the fabric warming; Oyster or Beige/Pearl Gray when the room is pale and the heat matters more than clarity. A 14-foot slider wall takes the fabric railroaded on a QMT5 motor.
SheerWeave 2410 is the 3% step of the Phifer card shared with 2360, 2390 and 2500; SheerWeave 2703 is the dual-sided twill at the same 3%, and E Screen, M Screen, SheerWeave 4600 and SheerWeave 8000 are the other 3% basketweaves in the Crestron library.
SheerWeave 2410: frequently asked
Which 2410 colourway for a living room on the ocean?
It depends on what the room is for. Where the view is the reason the client bought the unit, Charcoal or Charcoal/Chestnut: dark yarn reads the water most clearly and takes the glare down furthest, at the cost of absorbing most of the solar energy at the glass. Where the room is white and the glass faces south-east, Oyster or Oyster/Beige reflects more of that energy and hazes the view a little. We hang both against the same window at the consultation, at the hour the sun is worst.
SheerWeave 2410 or 2703: which 3% weave?
Same mill, width, tier and 3%; what differs is the construction, the card and the hembar. SheerWeave 2703 is the dual-sided twill: it reads the same from both sides, its card is Charcoal and Oyster with their mixes, and Crestron offers it with all four hembars including the Designer Half-Wrap. 2410 is the plain basketweave with Beige, Brilliant/White and Pearl Gray as well, on the Open Pocket, Sealed Pocket and Exposed Blackout hembars. Choose 2703 when the back of the shade shows; otherwise choose by the card.
What does 2410 offer that M Screen at 3% does not?
Four inches of width and a different card. M Screen is the Mermet basketweave Crestron stocks at 3% and 5%, 120 inches wide in thirteen colours; 2410 is 124 inches in the Phifer card of Beige, Brilliant/White, Charcoal, Oyster and Pearl Gray and their mixes. Both are Tier 2 fiberglass and vinyl in the Heritage Collection. When a wall is between 120 and 124 inches the extra width saves a railroad; otherwise it comes down to which card carries the colour the room wants.
What does a Crestron shade in SheerWeave 2410 cost?
Crestron places this fabric in price Tier 2. Its budgetary guide of June 2022 lists a motorized 5 Series roller shade in a Tier 2 fabric at $1,000 for 3 ft x 5 ft, $1,300 for 5 ft x 10 ft and $1,600 for 10 ft x 10 ft, MSRP, motor included, before options, control, wiring and installation. Options, the control system, wiring and installation are on top; we quote the finished shade at the measure.
How wide can a Crestron shade in SheerWeave 2410 be?
Crestron lists a usable roll width of 124 inches for SheerWeave 2410; the fabric can be railroaded, turned 90 degrees on the roll, so one shade can run wider than the roll as long as it is no taller than the roll width, and where it is taller Crestron joins two widths with a horizontal seam, which we line up with a mullion or a transom. We confirm the limit for the chosen hardware when we measure.
Is Crestron SheerWeave 2410 the same fabric as the mill's?
Crestron buys SheerWeave 2410 from Phifer and lists it under its own SKUs and price tier. The weave is the one on our Phifer SheerWeave 2500 series page, where the mill's full optical and fire data lives; Crestron's page here shows the colourways and openness Crestron actually stocks for its shades.
