Crestron SheerWeave 2701 Fabric
11 colourways, basketweave, openness 1%, Crestron Tier 2. Every swatch and every figure Crestron publishes, from the Crestron-certified team in Fort Lauderdale that specifies and installs Crestron shades from Miami to Palm Beach.
The dual-sided 1% twill, with all four Crestron hembarsTier 2
SheerWeave 2701 is the 1% weave of Phifer's 2700 family, which Crestron describes as transparent, dual-sided and twill woven: the same face on both sides of the cloth, so the shade reads the same from the terrace as from the room and the back of an exposed roll looks like the front. It is a vinyl-coated fiberglass at 36% fiberglass and 64% vinyl, 124 inches wide in all eleven colourways, Tier 2 in the Heritage Collection. Crestron files it under its basketweave opacity, and the figures are those of a tight solar screen: a visible transmittance of 3% to 17% across the card, the view kept and the afternoon dimmed rather than shut out.
The card is built on two bases. Charcoal stands alone at 3% of the solar energy transmitted and 94% absorbed, with Charcoal/Brown, Charcoal/Gray, Charcoal/Slate and Charcoal/Taupe around it; Charcoal/Slate reflects 30% against Charcoal's 4%, a wider gap than any charcoal mix in the 2500 family manages. Oyster stands at 21% transmitted and 64% reflected, with Oyster/Beige, Oyster/Charcoal, Oyster/Chestnut, Oyster/Pearl Gray and Oyster/Pewter beside it. Unlike the 2500 family, 2701 takes all four Crestron hembars, including the Designer Half-Wrap, the bar wrapped in the shade's own fabric with no weld line and a flush end cap. The mill's page is Phifer SheerWeave 2701, 2703, 2705 and 2710.
Woven by Phifer; the mill's full data is on our Phifer SheerWeave 2700 series page.
What SheerWeave 2701 does on your glass, and what it does not
Best use
West and south-west glass where the shade is seen from both sides or the roll is on show: a study on Decor hardware, an office with monitors, a kitchen whose window wall opens onto a lanai, the west bedroom that is used in the afternoon. Charcoal/Gray or Charcoal/Taupe where the view leads, Oyster/Pewter or Oyster/Pearl Gray where the room is pale. For shaded elevations in the same card, 2703 or 2705.
Privacy
Daytime cover and nothing after dark, like every screen on these pages. In daylight the Oyster colourways bounce light back at the street and hide the room best; Charcoal, the clearest to look out through, is the clearest to look in through from a nearby balcony. Once the lights are on, a 1% twill is a window from outside, whichever face is out. Night privacy comes from a second layer on a dual roller.
Glare control
At the dark end of the card the room goes soft and a screen stays legible through the afternoon; at the Oyster end the view stays crisp and some glare stays with it. Charcoal/Gray at 3% of solar energy transmitted with 14% reflected is the everyday answer for a west office; Charcoal/Taupe at 4% and 25% reflected sits between it and Charcoal/Slate. A low sun square in the window still comes through.
Limitations
No room darkening and no night privacy, in any colour. Charcoal/Brown holds 79% of the solar energy at the window and plain Charcoal more, and a west wall feels that by five o'clock; the Oysters send more back out and glow instead. Wider than the roll the fabric railroads, and a shade taller than that as well needs a seam. Sound passes through an open weave untouched. For sleep, a blackout behind.

The guide excludes control processors, keypads, interfaces, wiring, power supplies, programming and installation. Source (PDF).
Figures are Crestron's own budgetary MSRP guide of June 2022 for one motorized 5 Series roller shade, motor included, before options. They exclude the control system, wiring, power, programming and installation, and Crestron may have changed them since. We quote every project at the measure.
Where SheerWeave 2701 works here
We specify 2701 where the roll shows or the shade is read from both sides: an open-roll shade on Crestron Decor hardware in a loft or study, a west-facing office that wants a Charcoal at 1% with a bar wrapped in the same cloth, the glass between a living room and its terrace. Charcoal/Slate is our first pick for hot west glass: it keeps the dark read of the water while reflecting 30% of the solar energy. Oyster/Charcoal does the same in a pale room at 5% transmitted.
SheerWeave 2701 is the tightest of the dual-sided twills, with 2703 at 3%, 2705 at 5% and 2710 at 10% in the Oyster colourways only; SheerWeave 2500 is the plain basketweave at the same 1% with the Beige, Brilliant/White and Pearl Gray card.
SheerWeave 2701: frequently asked
What does dual-sided mean on a roller shade?
That the fabric has no wrong side. A two-tone basketweave usually has a face and a back, one colour leading on each, and the back is what the street sees and what shows on the roll of an exposed shade; a dual-sided weave presents the same surface both ways. On 2701 that matters for an open-roll shade on Decor hardware, for a shade in an interior glass wall, and for a mix such as Charcoal/Slate, which reads as the same mix from the terrace and from the room.
Can 2701 have the Designer Half-Wrap hembar?
Yes. Crestron lists 2701 with all four hembar options, where the 2500 family gets the Open Pocket, Sealed Pocket and Exposed Blackout hembars only. The Designer Half-Wrap is the bar wrapped in the shade's own fabric, with no weld line across the bottom and a flush end cap; Crestron makes it up to 120 inches wide on the fabrics that allow it. On a dual-sided twill it is the natural finish, because the wrapped bar shows the same cloth from both sides of the glass.
Which 2701 colourway for a west window that has to stay pale?
Oyster/Charcoal, Oyster/Pewter or Oyster/Chestnut. They transmit 5%, 6% and 6% of the solar energy while reflecting 39%, 43% and 41% of it, where plain Oyster transmits 21%; the room keeps an Oyster shade and the afternoon comes down close to where a charcoal would put it. Oyster/Pearl Gray at 8% transmitted and 54% reflected is the next step up in brightness. We hang two of them against the west glass at the hour the client finds hardest.
What does a Crestron shade in SheerWeave 2701 cost?
Crestron places this fabric in price Tier 2. Its budgetary guide of June 2022 lists a motorized 5 Series roller shade in a Tier 2 fabric at $1,000 for 3 ft x 5 ft, $1,300 for 5 ft x 10 ft and $1,600 for 10 ft x 10 ft, MSRP, motor included, before options, control, wiring and installation. Options, the control system, wiring and installation are on top; we quote the finished shade at the measure.
How wide can a Crestron shade in SheerWeave 2701 be?
Crestron lists a usable roll width of 124 inches for SheerWeave 2701; the fabric can be railroaded, turned 90 degrees on the roll, so one shade can run wider than the roll as long as it is no taller than the roll width, and where it is taller Crestron joins two widths with a horizontal seam, which we line up with a mullion or a transom. We confirm the limit for the chosen hardware when we measure.
Is Crestron SheerWeave 2701 the same fabric as the mill's?
Crestron buys SheerWeave 2701 from Phifer and lists it under its own SKUs and price tier. The weave is the one on our Phifer SheerWeave 2700 series page, where the mill's full optical and fire data lives; Crestron's page here shows the colourways and openness Crestron actually stocks for its shades.
