Crestron horizontal sheer shades: the sheer shade with tilting fabric vanes
Crestron horizontal sheer shades: every current model, Crestron's specifications and documents, and what the shade costs in Crestron's own budget guide.
What are the Crestron horizontal sheer shades?
Crestron's horizontal sheer shade (CS-SHADE-ROLLER-HSHEER) hangs 3 inch fabric vanes between two layers of sheer knitted fabric; the vanes tilt open for a view of about 1.5 inches between them and close for privacy, and the whole shade rolls up out of sight, in three fabric collections, Telluride, Vail and Keystone, in translucent or light-dimming opacities.
Crestron makes it up to 119.5 inches wide by 96 inches high, with a minimum width of 17.5 inches, on universal brackets for inside or outside mounting with optional top and back covers or a recessed pocket. It runs on the Digital QMT motor over Cresnet or infiNET EX, or manually on a clutch with a beaded chain, and the motor or clutch can be fitted on either side in the field. The two sheer layers filter ultraviolet and diffuse direct sun; the vanes give the light control of a blind with the softness of a sheer. The colourways of the three collections are in the Crestron horizontal sheer fabrics pages, and the CSF-FABRIC-COLLECTION-HSHEER-2 book holds the samples.

What Crestron's own guide says a shade costs
Crestron sells no motor or bracket on its own: the price is the finished shade, and Crestron publishes only a budgetary guide for it. This is that guide, unchanged.
| Shade size | Tier 1 | Tier 2 | Tier 3 | Tier 4 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3 ft wide x 5 ft high | $900 | $1,000 | $1,200 | $1,400 |
| 5 ft wide x 10 ft high | $1,100 | $1,300 | $1,600 | $2,200 |
| 10 ft wide x 10 ft high | $1,400 | $1,600 | $2,000 | $3,200 |
Options in the same guide: fascia $20 per ft; top and back cover $20 per ft; pocket $50 per ft; dual shade (two fabrics, one bracket) double the single-shade figure. The guide names example fabrics per tier: Tier 1: Bella, Mika, Merinda, Nava; Tier 2: E Screen, SheerWeave 2500, 2700 and 7500, Perla, Dilanna; Tier 3: SheerWeave 7000, Rachel, Nohea, Cosima; Tier 4: Flocke, Vizela, Harika; a few have changed tier since, and every fabric page gives the tier the Crestron fabric shop lists today. The guide excludes control processors, keypads, interfaces, wiring, power supplies, programming and installation. Source (PDF).
Figures are Crestron's own budgetary MSRP guide of June 2022 for one motorized 5 Series roller shade, motor included, before options. They exclude the control system, wiring, power, programming and installation, and Crestron may have changed them since. We quote every project at the measure.
Where the horizontal sheers fit
Horizontal sheers suit a street-facing living room in Coral Gables or a Boca Raton bedroom that wants daytime privacy without losing the light, and a Crestron home that wants the tilt on the same keypad as everything else. They are not a blackout: for a dark bedroom the answer is a blackout roller, or a dual shade with both. For the same look on Lutron, see Lutron horizontal sheer blinds.
Crestron horizontal sheer shades: frequently asked
How big can a Crestron horizontal sheer be?
Crestron lists a maximum of 119.5 inches wide by 96 inches high (303.5 by 244 cm) and a minimum width of 17.5 inches. Wider openings take two shades on one line.
Is a horizontal sheer a blackout?
No. The light-dimming fabrics darken the room when the vanes are closed, but the sheer layers still pass light. Bedrooms that need dark get a blackout roller, or a dual shade with the sheer in front and a blackout behind.
Can the horizontal sheer be manual?
Yes, with a clutch and a beaded pull chain, and the clutch can sit on the left or the right. Motorized, it runs on the same Digital QMT motor and Cresnet or infiNET EX link as Crestron's roller shades.
How much does a Crestron shade with the horizontal sheers cost?
Crestron publishes no prices for its motors or hardware; the motor ships inside a complete shade. Its budgetary guide of June 2022 lists one motorized 5 Series roller shade at $900 to $3,200 MSRP depending on size and fabric tier, before options, control, wiring and installation. We quote every project at the measure, with the fabric, the hardware and the commissioning on one number.
Do you install Crestron shades without a Crestron integrator?
We measure and specify the shades, Crestron builds them to order, our workroom sews the drapery for the track, and we install everything and commission it with the home's integrator, who owns the processor programming. On a project without an integrator we bring one in or propose Lutron or Somfy, which we program ourselves.
