A silk wool velvet at 55 in, in 10 colourways
Musette is a silk wool velvet from Holland & Sherry, in their Highland Fling collection (32% silk, 30% virgin wool, 28% cotton, 10% polyester, 55 in wide, made in Italy). It comes in 10 colourways, Elder White, Bloom, Stag, Buck Brown, Fern, Meadow Sweet, Stream, Nessie Blue and 2 more. Their spec sheet gives its end use as "Light upholstery, drapery, wall upholstery, soft goods and accessories".
The 55 in width runs up the roll, so panels are made of joined widths and the seams fall inside the pleats.
Silk is the sheen and the drape, and the sun is its enemy: light damage to silk is cumulative, so it is lined, often interlined, and kept off unshaded west glass. It weighs 18 oz per linear yard (560 g per linear metre) by Holland & Sherry's figures.
Their drapery note advises hanging the drapery before it is hemmed, so the cloth settles to the room, and lining every drapery, to block the light and protect the face.

What Musette does at the window, and what it does not
Best use
Musette is a velvet, so it is the drapery for a room that wants weight and quiet: a media room, a formal living or dining room, a study, a bedroom with the pile on the room side.
Light and privacy
An opaque cloth, so privacy is complete when it is closed. The lining sets the light: a light-filtering sateen keeps a room glowing, an interlining adds body and quiet, a blackout lining turns a bedroom dark (lining guide).

Limitations
Not for unshaded south or west glass on its own: the sun fades natural fibres, so a shade goes in front of it there. At 55 in a wide panel is made of joined widths; the seams sit inside the pleats. No NFPA 701 result in Holland & Sherry's data, so a condo common area or a commercial job that asks for it needs the cloth flame treated with a certificate, if Holland & Sherry can supply it that way, or another cloth.

We measure and give the yardage
We measure the windows, settle the style, the fullness and the lining, and work out the yardage on the width and the repeat, so the order to Holland & Sherry is right the first time.
We make and install
The cloth comes to our Fort Lauderdale workroom, where our five in-house seamstresses cut and sew the draperies, and our own installers hang them on the rod, track or motorized system the window calls for.

A silk like Musette goes where the sun does not reach it: a dining room, an inner hall, a bedroom on the shaded side, interlined for body and lined for the light. It is cut and sewn in our Fort Lauderdale workroom and installed by our own team from Miami to Palm Beach.

No. Holland & Sherry sell to the trade, so your designer orders the cloth from them. We make it up and install it: we measure and work out the yardage, the cloth is sent to our Fort Lauderdale workroom, and our seamstresses cut and sew the draperies.
Does Musette need a lining?
Holland & Sherry say every drapery should be lined, to block the light and protect the face, and we agree. The lining is chosen for the room: a light-filtering sateen for a living room, an interlining for body and quiet, a blackout lining for a bedroom (lining guide).
Is Musette fire rated for drapery?
Holland & Sherry's data gives no NFPA 701 result for it, only upholstery tests (BS 5852 Cigarette & Match; Cal 117-2013). For a residence that is not an issue; where a building asks for NFPA 701 on the drapery, ask your designer whether Holland & Sherry can supply it flame treated with a certificate, or choose another cloth.
