A wool tapestry at 52 in, in 4 colourways

Enchanted Forest is a wool tapestry from Holland & Sherry, in their Highland Fling collection (61% wool, 34% cotton, 5% nylon, 52 in wide, made in France). The range runs to 4 colourways: Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. Their spec sheet gives its end use as "Upholstery, drapery, wall upholstery, soft goods and accessories".

The 52 in width runs up the roll, so panels are made of joined widths and the seams fall inside the pleats. The repeat is 26.3 in across, 18.6 in down, matched at every seam and across the windows of a room, so the yardage is worked out on the repeat rather than the finished size.

Wool brings weight, a soft hand and quiet, and it resists flame on its own; what it does not resist is the sun, which fades and weakens it, so it wants a lining and, on bright south and west glass, a shade in front of it. In a lived-in, air-conditioned house it is at home; in a house shut up for the summer, humidity is its risk (curtain fabric types). At 32 oz per linear yard (1018 g per linear metre) it is a heavy cloth, so the track or rod is sized for the weight.

Their drapery note advises hanging the drapery before it is hemmed, so the cloth settles to the room, and lining every drapery, to block the light and protect the face.

Best Use & Limits

What Enchanted Forest does at the window, and what it does not

Best use

Enchanted Forest is a heavy cloth, the kind that makes a drapery read as tailored: a study, a library, a dining room or a bedroom, pinch pleat or ripplefold on a track or rod sized for the weight, lined, often blackout-lined.

Light and privacy

An opaque cloth, so privacy is complete when it is closed. The lining sets the light: a light-filtering sateen keeps a room glowing, an interlining adds body and quiet, a blackout lining turns a bedroom dark (lining guide).

Cloth and care

61% wool, 34% cotton, 5% nylon; 32 oz per linear yard (1018 g per linear metre).

Limitations

Not for unshaded south or west glass on its own: the sun fades natural fibres, so a shade goes in front of it there. At 52 in a wide panel is made of joined widths, and the repeat is matched at every seam, which costs yardage. The weight needs a track or rod sized for it; a light decorative rod will bow. No NFPA 701 result in Holland & Sherry's data, so a condo common area or a commercial job that asks for it needs the cloth flame treated with a certificate, if Holland & Sherry can supply it that way, or another cloth.

Their drapery note

Drapery should hang before it is hemmed, so it can adjust to the climate of the room; every drapery should be lined, to block light and protect the face.

Flame tests

NFPA 701, the drapery flame test: not listed; upholstery tests on the sheet: BS 5852 Cigarette & Match TBD; Cal 117-2013 TBD.

Working With Holland & Sherry

How Enchanted Forest becomes draperies in your home

Your designer specifies

Holland & Sherry sell to the trade, so the cloth is chosen and ordered by your designer, with the colour code and the sample in hand. Not working with a designer? Tell us; we can suggest a cloth we order ourselves.

We measure and give the yardage

We measure the windows, settle the style, the fullness and the lining, and work out the yardage on the width and the repeat, so the order to Holland & Sherry is right the first time.

We make and install

The cloth comes to our Fort Lauderdale workroom, where our five in-house seamstresses cut and sew the draperies, and our own installers hang them on the rod, track or motorized system the window calls for.

Where Enchanted Forest works here

We have made Holland & Sherry wool up before: at the Ritz-Carlton Residences Miami Beach the designer's schedule called for two Holland & Sherry wool jacquards, made up as blackout drapery on Lutron Sivoia QS tracks, the reversible flannel hung with its lighter face outward as specified. Enchanted Forest would be made the same way: lined, for an air-conditioned room, with a shade in front of it on bright glass.

For the same use, compare Enchanted Forest with Musette (silk wool velvet, 55 in, 10 colourways), Cuillin (wool jacquard, 50 in, 6 colourways) and Glencoe (wool jacquard, 51 in, 6 colourways).

Enchanted Forest: frequently asked

How many colours does Holland & Sherry Enchanted Forest come in?

4 colourways on Holland & Sherry's site when we read it on October 7, 2026: Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. Every one is listed on this page with its code; Holland & Sherry's photographs of each are on their own site, linked from the table.

Can I buy Enchanted Forest from you?

No. Holland & Sherry sell to the trade, so your designer orders the cloth from them. We make it up and install it: we measure and work out the yardage, the cloth is sent to our Fort Lauderdale workroom, and our seamstresses cut and sew the draperies.

Does Enchanted Forest need a lining?

Holland & Sherry say every drapery should be lined, to block the light and protect the face, and we agree. The lining is chosen for the room: a light-filtering sateen for a living room, an interlining for body and quiet, a blackout lining for a bedroom (lining guide).

Is Enchanted Forest fire rated for drapery?

Holland & Sherry's data gives no NFPA 701 result for it, only upholstery tests (BS 5852 Cigarette & Match; Cal 117-2013). For a residence that is not an issue; where a building asks for NFPA 701 on the drapery, ask your designer whether Holland & Sherry can supply it flame treated with a certificate, or choose another cloth.

What does Enchanted Forest cost made up as draperies?

The cloth is bought through your designer at Holland & Sherry's price, so our quote covers what we make and install: the fabrication, the lining, the track or rod and the installation, worked out from the measure. Ask for a workroom price with the button above and we come back with a figure, not a range.
