Holland & Sherry Moorland
Cotton texture, 6 colourways, 91% cotton, 9% polyamide, 51 in wide. Holland & Sherry's own figures, and how we make it up as draperies in our Fort Lauderdale workroom, from the cloth your designer orders.
A cotton texture at 51 in, in 6 colourways
Moorland is a cotton texture from Holland & Sherry, in their Highland Fling collection (91% cotton, 9% polyamide, 51 in wide, made in France). It comes in 6 colourways, Cotton-Grass, Nectar, Savanna, Bracken, Blue Meadow and Azure. Their spec sheet gives its end use as "Upholstery, drapery, wall upholstery, soft goods and accessories".
At 51 in it is cut up the roll like a conventional drapery cloth: a wide panel is made of joined widths, with each seam hidden inside a pleat or a ripplefold wave.
Cotton takes colour with a soft matte face; like linen it wants a lining that carries the UV, and it is kept out of wet rooms. It weighs 19 oz per linear yard (594 g per linear metre) by Holland & Sherry's figures.
Their drapery note advises hanging the drapery before it is hemmed, so the cloth settles to the room, and lining every drapery, to block the light and protect the face.

What Moorland does at the window, and what it does not
Best use
We would make Moorland up as tailored panels, pinch pleat or ripplefold, lined, for a bedroom, a study or a living room that wants the warmth of a suiting cloth.
Light and privacy
Closed, Moorland gives full privacy; how much light comes through is decided by the lining we sew behind it: light-filtering for living rooms, interlining for body and quiet, blackout for bedrooms (the lining guide).
Cloth and care
91% cotton, 9% polyamide; 19 oz per linear yard (594 g per linear metre); Martindale 25,000 rubs.
Limitations
At 51 in a wide panel is made of joined widths; the seams sit inside the pleats. No NFPA 701 result in Holland & Sherry's data, so a condo common area or a commercial job that asks for it needs the cloth flame treated with a certificate, if Holland & Sherry can supply it that way, or another cloth.

How Moorland becomes draperies in your home
Your designer specifies
Holland & Sherry sell to the trade, so the cloth is chosen and ordered by your designer, with the colour code and the sample in hand. Not working with a designer? Tell us; we can suggest a cloth we order ourselves.
We measure and give the yardage
We measure the windows, settle the style, the fullness and the lining, and work out the yardage on the width and the repeat, so the order to Holland & Sherry is right the first time.
We make and install
The cloth comes to our Fort Lauderdale workroom, where our five in-house seamstresses cut and sew the draperies, and our own installers hang them on the rod, track or motorized system the window calls for.
Where Moorland works here
Moorland would be made up the way our draperies are: pinch pleat, Euro pleat or ripplefold, lined to the room, on a decorative rod, a hand-drawn track or a Lutron or Somfy motorized track, cut and sewn in our Fort Lauderdale workroom and installed by our own team from Miami to Palm Beach.
For the same use, compare Moorland with Musette (silk wool velvet, 55 in, 10 colourways), Cuillin (wool jacquard, 50 in, 6 colourways) and Glencoe (wool jacquard, 51 in, 6 colourways).

Moorland: frequently asked
How many colours does Holland & Sherry Moorland come in?
6 colourways on Holland & Sherry's site when we read it on October 7, 2026: Cotton-Grass, Nectar, Savanna, Bracken, Blue Meadow and Azure. Every one is listed on this page with its code; Holland & Sherry's photographs of each are on their own site, linked from the table.
Can I buy Moorland from you?
No. Holland & Sherry sell to the trade, so your designer orders the cloth from them. We make it up and install it: we measure and work out the yardage, the cloth is sent to our Fort Lauderdale workroom, and our seamstresses cut and sew the draperies.
Is Moorland fire rated for drapery?
Holland & Sherry's data gives no NFPA 701 result for it, only upholstery tests (BS 5852 Cigarette & Match; Cal 117-2013). For a residence that is not an issue; where a building asks for NFPA 701 on the drapery, ask your designer whether Holland & Sherry can supply it flame treated with a certificate, or choose another cloth.
Does Moorland need a lining?
Holland & Sherry say every drapery should be lined, to block the light and protect the face, and we agree. The lining is chosen for the room: a light-filtering sateen for a living room, an interlining for body and quiet, a blackout lining for a bedroom (lining guide).
What does Moorland cost made up as draperies?
The cloth is bought through your designer at Holland & Sherry's price, so our quote covers what we make and install: the fabrication, the lining, the track or rod and the installation, worked out from the measure. Ask for a workroom price with the button above and we come back with a figure, not a range.
